Chapter 15
ROSELINE~~~~
I was rooted to the spot as I watched him walk into the mall with a lady in tow. A thousand different scenarios of how much I wanted to hurt this lady flashed through my mind. I could feel my temperature rising as a result of it and my eyes were itching.
"Let's go ask him," I said as I squeezed my fist. The first thing I want to do is bash her face in before asking any questions.
"We can't go there until you stop leaking that much bloodlust," Ariel replied. "You would scare him away."
"Oh, he should be scared right now," I growled. "I'd be pissing my pants if I were him."
"You can't hurt him or the girl," she insisted.
"Why?" I snarled, not once taking my eyes off them. I don't want to lose them.
"You haven't forgotten the reason why Carl left right?" she asked.
"What does that weakling have to do with this?" I asked. "That girl is with my man!"
"Hey, calm down, Roseline," Ariel insisted. "Why are you getting this worked up over the Northerner? Do you have feelings for him?"
"Of course not," I hissed, finally regaining my senses. "But he's my prey for now. I hate it when people touch anything that belongs to me."
"Well, he's gonna hate you if you touch that girl," Ariel sighed.
"How do you know that?" I asked as I tried to get my breath under control. My wolf eyes were still out as I couldn't control the amount of anger and jealousy I was feeling at the moment even though I appeared to be calming down on the outside.
"I haven't even gotten to walk with him outside like that," I thought. "Yet, that stupid bitch is walking beside him like she owns him!"
"Let's go," Ariel finally said once she decided that I was better.
We trailed behind them and followed them around the mall as they shopped. It was a bad idea as I only got angrier the longer I watched them. He was only buying clothes for her. They were touring the aisles and buying clothes like they were a couple.
"That should be us!" I thought as I seethed.
"That's it. I'm confronting him," I snarled. I've had enough of watching them. Right now, I want nothing more than to pummel that bitch to death. "Even though what we have is pretend, it's still disrespectful to have him flirting with other girls so easily."
"You have a point," Ariel agreed. "We should also take pictures and record our conversation so that my father knows the kind of man he is."
"That's unnecessary," I stopped her. The last thing I want is for this alliance to be called off and for him to return to the North. "That would only cause more trouble for us since your parents might only see it as you trying to avoid marrying him. They'll watch you more then."
"If you say so," Ariel sighed. "I really want this guy out of my life as soon as possible."
"Let's go," I said as I headed over to confront him
He turned around once we were a short distance away from him and gave me a curious look.
"What are you doing here?" I asked once our eyes met.
"Shopping," he replied. "And I assume you are here for the same reason?"
"Who is she?" Ariel asked faster than I could which I was grateful for.
"And who are you?" he retorted and then bent his head slightly to look at her. "Aren't you the rude short stuff I met that day?"
"Don't you dare insult me with my height, you freak?!" she yelled.
"What would you do?" he replied. "I wish I saw the other lady instead of you."
"What lady?" I asked, a little confused.
"The blond hair, he replied looking at me. "She's a lot more reasonable that this shorty. Is she your friend?"
"Uh, yeah," I answered, a little shaken. Does he want to see Denise?! "More importantly, who is that bi-I mean lady?"
"Cara," he replied with a smile. At her. "She is one of the workers in my house."
"What?" I asked. "You mean she is a Broken? You brought a Broken into a public place?"
"Am I not supposed to?" he asked in confusion.
"Of course not, dummy," Ariel rolled her eyes. "It seems like your height must have affected your common sense. They are called Broken because they committed unspeakable felonies. Bringing them into the public eye is like tempting them to do it again."
I turned to look at Ariel as she said that. I hadn't realized it since I was mad, but Ariel has been acting more like me than her normal self since we met him. Those were my exact words.
She, on the other hand, doesn't think the Broken should have no communication with the outside world. Instead, she believed with time and regular interactions and treatment, some of the Broken should be allowed some interaction once in a while. Especially the ones who haven't really done much wrong. That's why she never stopped seeing her grandaunt no matter what anyone said.
"Not Cara," he replied. "She wouldn't do anything to anyone."
"Why is she even out with you in the first place?" I asked, doing my best to sound calm even though my eyes betrayed me. If Ariel is going through this much effort to keep to the plan, I shouldn't mess it up. Especially when I'm the one who needs this plan to work more than anyone else.
"She needs clothes," he replied. "She didn't have much of anything before she was arrested and most of those clothes wouldn't suit her now. I need her to get some new clothes and she needs to like them."
"But a Broken would wear anything you give them," I said. "They don't need to go shopping for what they want or like it."
"Well, I decide how I treat my workers so that is none of my business," he said. "Whatever norms you all abide by has nothing to do with me."
"Hey!" Ariel hissed. "You're not in the North."
"And if you keep yelling that, we might have a few dead bodies in this mall," he smiled.
"What do you mean?" she frowned. "Are you threatening me?"
"No, I'm not," he replied. "I'm stating a fact. They will attack me and I won't stand back to take those attacks. I'll probably kill a dozen or so before the others learn that they are outclassed. Also, Cara here is an experienced killer so a little more than ten would die before they realize it."
"You-"
"It's alright, Ariel," I cut her off to show Xavier my power over her. I then looked up at him. "You are right Xavier. What you do with you worker but be careful. She's still the type that would kill at the slightest provocation." I warned.
"Noted," he smiled.
"Can we join you?" I asked. There was no way in hell that I was letting him leave with just that girl."
"Sure," he replied. "I have something to tell you."
"What is it?" I asked expectantly.
"My family are coming to pay your kingdom a visit," he said and both I and Ariel froze.
