Chapter 45

JADE~~~~

The surprise on Ava's face was one I expected. It was a sudden decision even for me. Not once in my wildest dreams did I ever consider dropping out of school but I can't help it at this point. My mom would come for me wherever I go. She just let me go because wanted.

I could clearly remember the words she transmitted soundlessly as we drove away since we were already a good away from her. I believe she also didn't want Ava to know it.

"I am only letting you go because I'm bored at the moment, and this puppy is being too persistent. I will be coming back for you soon and that ignorant puppy wouldn't be able to help you. Make the hunt a little worth my time. It's no fun if a Yuki is captured easily. Do not let down the father and sister you've only just recently known of their existence."

Those words repeated themselves over and over again in my head as I mulled them over. The fact that she's telling me of her plans in advance means that she is either confident she can come get me whenever she wants, wherever I may be, or she believes there's almost nowhere an eighteen-year-old like me who has only known her as my only relative can go except Ava's house. She believes she can come get me whenever she wants since I'll be stuck here.

My decision was made assuming the latter is the case. There's not much I can do about the former but if the latter is the case then it'll be considerably tough for her to find me and it'll buy me more time to find a way to get rid of this darned seal and practice magic.

"Are you even listening to yourself?" Ava asked as she stared at me curiously.

"Yes, I am," I smiled.

"Don't smile at me," she hissed. She wasn't mad, I think she just doesn't want me to give her a fake smile.

"I know what I'm doing," I said firmly. "I can't live here among normal humans any longer. You have witnessed first-hand how useless whatever laws we know are against my mother."

"And they'll be just as useless in the world of supernaturals," she retorted. "Do you even know what kind of life they live there? It's a world where survival of the fittest is dominant. How are you going to survive there?"

"I'll try," I said. The truth is that I have no idea how I'm going to cope but I can't tell her that. I need her permission to leave.

"I know your mom would be coming back for you one of these days," she said looking at her food and stabbing at the pancakes. "That's why I'm training so hard to become stronger to protect you. We could train together and become stronger together."

"I can't train my magic," I said coolly. "The birthmark under my eye is actually a seal that stops me from using magic. It causes immense pain when I do."

She looked up at me. "Is that why your mom doesn't want you practising magic?"

"Nope," I replied. "I am potentially more powerful than she is and she wants to be recognized as the powerful witch of the Yuki lineage so she has refused to release my seal or teach me magic when I came of age."

"How do you know that?"

"Long story," I sighed. "The point of it is that my mother is the reason why I can't learn magic."

"That bitch!" she banged the table in anger. "I'll fucking kill her!"

"Stop banging the table and eat your food," I warned. "I put a lot of effort into cooking that even with my frail body. Don't let it go to waste."

She took a bite out of her pancake. "Fine, but tell me the details of your plan."

"There's not much to my plan," I shrugged. "I'm gonna borrow some money from you and maybe rent an apartment somewhere and try to get a job and live a quiet life while hoping my mom doesn't find me."

She furrowed her brows. "You said the borrowing part so casually."

"That's because it is," I smiled. "You would give me, won't you? And if you don't have enough, sugar daddy Thomas would give you more."

"That's exploiting me," she stated.

"What are friends for if not for exploitation?" I laughed. "You will give me, right?"

"We'll discuss that later," she replied. "I still haven't agreed to you leaving."

"It's for my safety though," I emphasized. "We don't know what that woman who calls herself my mother would do me if she gets her hands on me."

"It hurts even more that I can't say anything to that," she sighed. "Are you sure about this?"

"Sure about what?" a familiar yet unexpected voice asked, startling the both of us

Fucking Elsa!

"Elsa, you fucking bitch! Stop scaring people like that!" I yelled.

"Is that Elsa?" Ava asked.

"In the flesh," she said and appeared just behind Ava. "Peek-a-boo!"

"Arghh," Ava yelled and fell off her chair. "What the fucking fuck!"

Haha," Elsa laughed. "That's the most I've heard you curse."

"That's just so fucking twisted!" she yelled. "What the hell are you thinking?!"

"Are you mad?" Elsa asked with feigned innocence. "I-I'm sorry."

"Don't act like a fucking victim," she hissed as she stood up. "You are too much."

"You had it quite easy though," Elsa laughed. "Last time, I squeezed Jade's boobs and ass."

"We don't need to talk about that," I hissed. "What are you doing here?"

"And how did you get in?" Ava chipped in.

Elsa gave a big smile as she took a seat at the dining table. "I don't need a reason to visit friends."

We both glared at her without saying a word, making our disbelief obvious.

"Fine," she sighed. "Little Miss Werewolf still has my car key and I saved your life so I wanted to come see how you were doing?"

"How did you get in?" Ava asked again. She seemed more offended by the fact that she didn't use the front door.

"The kitchen window," she smiled. "Now let's get past that and focus on the present, shall we?"

"I still don't trust you completely," Ava said flatly. Truthfully, I've been thinking the same thing but I was hesitant since she saved my life.

"You shouldn't," she replied and stole a glance at me before looking back at Ava. "I'm only helping you guys because Thomas asked me to watch over you."

"Thomas asked you to watch over her," I corrected. "Why are you helping me?"

"I wanna," she shrugged. "Besides, this cute little puppy would go crazy if she couldn't find you and I was too lazy to deal with that."

"I'm not a fucking puppy!" I yelled. "I'm an adult for goddess' sake!"

"Oh well, that's that," she waved it off. "What are you guys up to?"

"Didn't you hear the whole thing?" I asked. If Elsa actually came from the kitchen then there was no way she didn't hear a bit of our conversation.

"I didn't," she replied. "But I heard enough to understand the whole situation."

"What do you think about it?" Ava asked, her voice has become softer now that she was reminded of the topic.

"I think she's making the right decision," she replied. "We all know her mother's gonna come for her and as the most experienced in the world of supernaturals and a witch, I can confidently say we never let go of our possessions."

"So living away from humans would help?" Ava asked.

"Not exactly," she replied. "Our world is quite treacherous. Only the strong survive and you have to be affiliated one way or the other to one of the three major races if you don't wanna get preyed on. Even among the three races, there are different packs for werewolves, covens for witches and families for vampires but the vampires all serve under one lord so they are more or less more united than the other races."

"So how do I join a coven?" I asked.

"I wouldn't advise that," she replied. "No coven would take a Yuki as a member and you are basically useless to a coven since you are restricted by your seal. Vampires are too bloodthirsty and werewolves are quite hostile to witches right now, not all though. You basically can't belong anywhere. I think your mom knows that too."

"What do I do then?" I asked. "I can't stay here."

"Then come stay with me," Elsa offered and both me and Ava froze.

"Huh?"

"Come stay with me," she said again. "I basically live alone in a big house so I don't mind having some company."
