Chapter 48
LIAM~~~~
"Good morning Alpha," Daniel said through the mind link.
"I'm not going to the college today so don't wake me up," I ordered without opening my eyes.
"Oh, I know that. It's Sunday," he said. "You said to inform you once I found any information on a witch called Deliah."
"Did you?"
"Yes," he replied.
"Took you long enough," I said. "What's the time?"
"It's 10:45 am," he replied.
"Okay," I sighed standing up with a lot of effort. "I'm up. I'll be with you in a few."
I did my morning routine and got dressed as quickly as possible but at my own pace before going downstairs for breakfast.
The table was set as expected, what I didn't expect was Isabelle being at the table at that time too. Isabelle was an early riser so I. expected her to be done with eating and maybe holed up in her room like she's been doing for the past few days. She has avoided me like a plague and would rarely even let me see her.
"Morning, Alpha," Hilda said once she saw me.
"Where's Owen?" I asked looking around for a sign of him.
"He left a minute ago," she replied. "He had an urgent call and rushed out to check it out. He said he will be back as soon as he can."
"Okay, then," I said taking my seat. "You can go back to your work."
"Morning, Alpha," Isabelle said without even looking up from her food. She addresses me as Alpha instead of brother when she's mad at me and doesn't want to talk to me.
"How are you, Isabelle?" I asked. Now that I'm less mad, I should at least try to talk to her.
"It doesn't matter to you," she said coldly. "You never asked how I was for the past five days so don't start now. I'm just trying to eat in peace."
"I heard you went out on Friday," I said ignoring her rant. "Where did you go?"
"I don't have to report all of my whereabouts to you and it's none of your business. You are too busy to care anyway," she said and continued eating her food. "Oh and just to clear the air, I didn't go around beating random strangers who did nothing wrong to me just because they are weaker."
"I've had enough of this defiance from you, Isabelle Wyatt," I warned.
"So what are you gonna do?" she asked finally letting go of her cutlery and paying attention to me. "What are you gonna do, Alpha Liam Wyatt? Punish me? Lock me up? Ground me? Or you are just gonna label me a devil like you already did?"
"Shut up, Isabelle," I ordered. "I am the Alpha and your brother. I would not condone your misdemeanor just because you are my sister. Admit to your mistakes when you are wrong."
"And you are a good example of that?" she asked. "When have you ever admitted to your mistakes?"
"We are talking about you, Isabelle Wyatt," I said. "Don't change the topic."
"I am not," she said. "I'm only saying the truth. Being an Alpha made you lose every shred of humanity you have left."
"Isabelle, I am your Alpha!" I yelled slamming hard on the table. "I order you to respect me!"
She glared at me for a bit before bowing mockingly. "Oh great Alpha, forgive this little trifle who dares to sully your mood barely an hour after you awoke and grace her filthy existence with your mercy."
"What are you saying, Isabelle?" I asked glaring at her.
"You demanded my respect and you got it," she said. "You get everything you want because you're the Alpha, right? Everything you say is fight because you are the Alpha. No one's opinions matter because Liam Simon Wyatt is the Alpha."
"Isabelle," I grimaced. We had already gathered a small spectacle of workers by now and she was embarrassing me.
"I'm sorry for annoying you, Alpha," she said standing up. "I just thought I'd let you know that respect is earned and not demanded."
She walked away from her food and already made her way to the foot of the stairs when I called out. "Isabelle," she turned to look at me with glassy eyes. "No sister of mine is gonna starve. Come eat your food."
"I'm full, Alpha. Or do you also want to force me into eating more than I want? I can if that's what you demand," she said as she wiped her eyes. "It's truly a shame that my brother died so early. You know nothing about me and I doubt you ever will."
She ran up the stairs after that, leaving me alone at the dining table with a bad taste in my mouth. I stood up soon after with my food barely touched and went up to my office.
"Why did you ask her about where she went when you already know?" Zero asked interrupting my reading after a while of silence in my office. Zero was my wolf.
"Don't start with me, Zero," I replied.
"I only asked a question," he said. "Daniel already told you where she went so why did you ask?"
"What does it matter now?" I asked. "It's already in the past."
"I don't know if this is pride or just self-torture at this point," Zero said sadly. It seems he was also affected by the altercation I had with Isabelle.
"What do you mean?" I asked. "I'm just trying to treat her just like everyone else. I'm not going to give anyone special treatment even if it's her."
"No one's asking you to," he said. "I support you in everything else but not Isabelle. She's our responsibility. Her happiness should be a priority. She just called us dead."
"How dare she?!" I said slamming the book I was reading on the ground. "I do everything for her! I make sure she lacks nothing! I even considered getting her the best car for her eighteenth birthday! What more does she want?!"
"Do you know that you were the only one who doesn't believe her story until now?" he asked. "You never even bothered to hear her story. You just went ahead and believed what you saw."
"I only believe what I see," I said. "And we saw Isabelle pounding hard on that frail human."
"I still think you have the wrong idea of the situation," he argued. "The world isn't black and white, even I know that.
"Alpha," Daniel said opening the door without knocking. "We need to talk."
"I have always warned you to knock before entering," I said coldly.
"I'm sorry about that, Alpha," he said quickly ignoring the coldness in my voice. "But we really need to talk."
"Give me information on Deliah and her coven members first," I ordered.
"Well, about that," he. said. "Deliah seems to be hiding away from something. She has gone off the grid since you asked me to look into her. My sources said that she probably pissed someone off and is now trying to escape. She and a few coven members just packed up and left."
"I see," I said. "Is that all you have on her?"
"Why are you searching for her?" he asked.
"None of your business," I replied. "Did you or did you not find anything else on her."
"I'm not sure," he replied. "And I don't want to put an innocent person in unnecessary danger."
"What are you saying?" I asked. "Did you just say a witch is innocent? Did you forget what they did to us and our pack? What they did to Cecilia?"
"I remember but if the information I got is correct, then the person isn't even a witch," he said. "I don't want a human in danger so until I'm sure, I won't be disclosing this information."
"I am your Alpha, Daniel," I warned. "Don't make me ask twice."
"If you want to know then I'll tell you," he said. "But I'll beg you not to harm this person."
"Say it," I ordered.
"Deliah has a daughter," he said. "But there haven't been any signs of sorcery in her. She also doesn't have the weak physical constitution of the witches."
"Where is she and how old?" I asked.
"She's 16 just like Isabelle," he said. "And she attends the same school and in the same class as Isabelle."
"What's her name?" I asked.
"Again I need to be sure you won't hurt her," he said again. "I've told you quite enough for you to make your decision."
"Just say it, Daniel," I growled, my eyes glowing.
"Her name's Bria Dalton," he said. "I asked Isabelle about her and she said the girl was her only friend in the school."
"Did you tell Isabelle about the task I gave you?" I growled again, this time baring my fangs as I got ready to pounce on him.
"Of course not," he replied. "I'm neither dumb nor stupid. But you should roughly understand why you shouldn't hurt that girl."
"You said she was Isabelle's friend, right?"
"Yes," he replied picking up the book on the floor. He's been stealing glances at it for a while now.
I smiled. "That makes things easier then."
