Chapter 27

NOEL

After a few more minutes of silence, he asked. "What's the difference between you two? I mean apart from your birth circumstances."

I shrugged. "Well, he's significantly more powerful, more aggressive, more racist, and a muscle head. In simpler terms, he's the one in the monster attack video that went viral. The one about the Esperanzo ranch. He's a beast."

"So he has no moral standing, right?" he asked.

"None at all. All he believes in is power," I replied.

"Then why do you think he would join us to fight against Jimmy," he asked.

"He definitely wouldn't join us," I laughed. "As I said, he's a raging beast. We just need to direct his rage at the Imperial Pack and let him loose. He hates werewolves with a passion so he'll attack without hesitation. When it's time to attack Jimmy, we just have to coordinate with him and surround the bastard."

"I see," he said. "Then let's do it. Take me to him."

"I must warn you though," I said as I stood up. "You can't rush him or he'll kill you too. That is if you are lucky that he doesn't kill you today."

"What do you mean?" he asked, standing up along with me and heading to the door."

"He is a racist from the vampire clan," I said. "What do you expect?"

"Oh," he said. "You'll protect me then."

"Keys. I'm driving," I said as we got outside the house. "He's stronger than me. I doubt I could protect you from him."

Royce said nothing after that and just sat in the passenger's seat with his arms folded together as he looked outside the window. We stayed like that for most of the day and by the time we got close to our destination, the sun was already setting. We weren't that close to begin with but ever since our races have been revealed, we drifted even further apart. The only thing keeping us together right now is our mutual interest to save Jack.

"So there are no reactions from your vampire side when you're under the sun?" he asked after almost two hours of silence.

"Well, there is," I said. "I don't disintegrate under the sun like most vampires but being under the sun can be extremely painful for a hybrid like me. My vampire traits were a little more dominant than those of my werewolf so I could barely conquer the sun. I can walk under the sun but I can't stay out for long or my skin will start to sizzle slowly."

"Interesting," he said slowly.

"If you are thinking of using it as a weakness, then I would have you know that no one ever reveals their weakness unless they have conquered it, or it isn't a weakness in the first place," I stated.

"Chill, he said. "I don't plan on doing anything to you. At least not until you attack me first."

"Good call."

"I have another question," he said. "Do you have a rogue wolf?"

"Rogue wolf?" I asked puzzled.

"Like your wolf," he explained. "A voice that speaks in your head, something like an alter ego."

"Nope," I said. "I'm in total control before and after I transform."

"Okay then, I have one more question," he said again.

"We're here," I said quickly as we approached the farm where Bonnie lives. I have to get out of this car before this kid makes me spill more than I should.

"This place looks like shit," he said looking at the rundown shack where Bonnie stays. "Couldn't you have gotten somewhere better for him to live?"

"As I said, he's a beast. Any closer to civilization and a lot of people would lose their lives," I explained. "Look at the havoc he caused in Esperanzo ranch even when he lives this far."

"Well, you are not wrong," he shrugged. "But you should at least improve his living conditions. A man is prone to being a beast when he lives like one."

"Just shut up and follow me," I ordered. I stopped just in front of the door. It was already dark outside by now so I doubt we would meet him indoors but I needed to make sure. I looked at him with a serious face so he knows I'm not joking. "When you get in there, you let me do all the talking. Don't utter a word until I tell you to. If you value your life, that is."

"Sure," he shrugged.

I observed him for a few seconds before walking into the shack. As expected, he wasn't home. His lingering scent was an indication that he hadn't been gone long so I could prolly chase after him if I tried, but I can't since I have a werewolf tagging along. He would attack blindly if he gets the slightest whiff of a werewolf's scent.

Just then, I briefly caught his scent and my eyes widened in horror. Royce must have also caught it because he sighed, probably relieved that we wouldn't have to wait for long.

"Get down!" I yelled at him just in time for him to duck a split second before Bonnie's tentacle-like appendage tore through the wooden wall and almost impaled him.

"What the heck!" he yelled.

"I told you he was a maniac!" I replied and then yelled to Bonnie. "Bonnie stop that shit and come inside, I brought the werewolf."

"What?" he said as he retrieved his appendage and walked in. "What did you say? You are with the werewolf? What's your problem, man? What happened to you?"

"Hear me out," I replied. "But before that, don't tell me you were out killing humans again."

"I was out killing but not humans this time," he looked at a shocked Royce and sneered. "I was out killing werewolf suckers like him. Their blood was so fucking tasty."

I took one look at Royce who by now had gritted his teeth with his hands balled into fists and I knew he was about to get himself killed.

"What pack?" I asked Bonnie trying to save the situation while I turned to him. "Calm yourself if you don't wanna die before Jimmy."

"Huh? What do you mean what pack?" he asked. "Werewolves are tasty and that's that. It doesn't matter the pack they came from. As a consolation to your friend, I eat without prejudice," he sneered.

Fucking Bonnie. "What pack were they from, Bonnie?!" I said seriously.

"Fine. I think they were from the Northern Pack or something like that. Why are you so interested?" he said with an annoyed undertone.

Royce relaxed after he heard that. I knew the Northern pack were the closest to Bonnie's location so I needed Royce to hear it. "If you truly killed Imperial Pack members then I don't give a fuck. I plan on killing them with your help anyway."

"What do you mean?" Bonnie asked taking a seat beside us. He reeked of blood. A horrid stench.

"Fuck! Clean up once in a while, Bonnie," I said averting my nose.

"You've got blood on your shirt too so don't lecture me," he said firmly.

"I don't reek as much as you do," I insisted. "But enough about that."

"Yeah," Bonnie said. "What's this about a werewolf asking for my help?"

"The leader of the Imperial Pack killed his mom and kidnapped our friend," I explained. "There's a chance that he's been turned already. We want him back."

"How far will you fall, Noel?" Bonnie asked. "You live with a human and now you need my help to rescue a werewolf?"

"You will get your chance to fight Darius again," I said.

"Count me in," he sneered.
