Chapter 9
XAVIER~~~~
"Ugh," I groaned at the sound of those words. The last thing I wanted right now was having to meet anyone after getting into my residence.
"She's coming upstairs, sir," Cara said and the door opened slightly as the familiar blue eyes peeked in.
"Busy?" she asked from the door.
"It's not like you care if you came all the way up here without asking first," I sighed as I sat up. "What do you want?"
"Brought you some food," she smiled, walking in and revealing herself completely. She was dressed in a strapless short black gown, that exposed a good portion of her cleavage and barely covered her ass. She also had a flask which apparently contains the food.
"Which one is it?" I asked. "You or the flask?"
She looked behind her at Cara who still stood at the door waiting for an order. "You can leave now, Cara. Go get some rest."
"Oh, yes, ma'am," Cara nodded and hurried away.
"You can choose," she said looking back at me. "Just keep your primal instincts in check and don't mark me."
"I don't want any," I replied. "The food might be poisoned and I can't have intercourse with a girl I met today."
"Passed!" she beamed as she skipped to my bed. "You passed the test."
"What test?" I asked, confused.
"The cheater test," she replied. "A guy who would have sex with a girl he met today is nothing but a cheater who would sleep with anyone at a moment's notice. You just proved that you aren't a cheater."
"Why don't you want a cheater when you are one?" I asked, filling up the glass by my bedside with water.
"Huh?" she asked, equally confused. "What do you mean?"
I chugged down the glass of water before replying. "You told me you had no man in your life, but I met a guy named Asher and he said you both were dating."
"Oh, Asher," she smiled and then leaned towards me. "Why? Are you jealous?"
"Of what, exactly?" I asked. "I have no emotional attachment whatsoever to you. Why should I be jealous?"
"Do you have to be so rigid?" she sighed with a smile. "Asher was a safety measure I put in place just in case I don't like you. He was supposed to raise an argument of being my man so that we can convince my father to stop the marriage."
"And why aren't we doing that?"
She gave me a shy smile before replying. "It's because I like you. I haven't told him of this yet so forgive his acting. I'll make sure it never happens again."
"Now, aren't you the whore?" I said as I looked out the window. This neighbourhood is just too extravagant for my liking.
"What do you mean?" she asked, her voice expressing her annoyance even though I wasn't looking at her face.
"You just said that a man who has sex with a lady he met on the first day is a cheater," I replied. "Aren't you a whore for liking a guy after meeting him just a few hours ago?"
"Liking someone is different from having sex with them," she said, her voice a little higher as she tried to buttress her point. "It's something called love at first glance. Not being a whore. Besides, we are betrothed so I don't see the problem."
I pulled her by the waist close until our bodies touched and placed my finger in her strapless gown, right in the crack created by her cleavage.
So, can you confidently say," I asked as I brought my face so close to hers that our lips almost touched. "That if I decided I wanted to have sex with you right now, you wouldn't let me?"
She froze for a few seconds and gulped as I tugged down at her gown, threatening to pull it down and expose her breasts since she had no bra on.
Even though I tugged a little more to see her reaction, she still made no move to stop me, and I stopped just before I exposed any more of her cleavage. "See? A whore."
"Stop," she yelled as tears formed in her eyes and soon started to flow freely. "Just stop calling me names."
I was confused and at a loss for how to react. I only meant to annoy her a little bit for her said test. I didn't mean to make her cry.
"I only came here to give you some food and get to know you," she sobbed. "I didn't expect to get insulted like this. I didn't want this also, you know? It's not my fault that I'm gullible enough to fall for a guy who I just met for the first time. Don't call me names just because I like you."
With that, she hurried out of the room still in tears. "Have a great day," she said and banged the door behind her, leaving me at a loss for words.
"That was anticlimactic," I said once I recovered. "I didn't think she would cry because of something like that. Especially when she started the test thing first."
I waited for a few minutes until I could no longer hear her footsteps before laying back down on the bed. "Whatever. At least, I get to have some time to myself and get some well-deserved rest."

ROSELINE~~~~
I sobbed and sniffed as I ran out of the room, making sure it is just loud enough so that he can hear me but not too loud that it sounds extra.
I waited until I was sure I was out of the range of his enhanced hearing before I stopped and wiped my face. I didn't expect him to be that rude and blunt with me, but a little improvisation in that situation would give me an advantage with him.
Blackmail.
I can use the emotional blackmail from today against him, making him think of me as a sensitive innocent girl and that he should watch his words around me.
"Whore," I scoffed. "That was seriously the best he could come up with?"
"Martha!" I called as I from the exit door as I got ready to leave.
"Yes, ma'am," she answered, running out of the kitchen.
I glared at her for a few seconds before slapping her hard in the face. "Didn't you hear me coming down the stairs? Why weren't you waiting here by the time I came down?"
"I was busy with the kitchen, ma'am," she replied, cradling her cheek.
Martha has been the head of the broken slaves ever since I was a child. Rumour has it that she used to be an older relative who was close to the Alpha before she was convicted. Even though our Aloha wasn't the one who tamed her, she is still loyal to him without needing to be tamed again.
"You're as useless as you're wolfless," I sighed. "Make him something to eat. I'm pretty sure he won't eat the food I brought, and I sincerely do not want him to. I wanted to be nice by bringing him that, but I'm not even sure it tastes good."
"Yes, ma'am," she replied. "I'll do just that."
"Finally," I grinned as I brought my face closer to hers. "One word of this to the Alpha or one of these criminals around you, and I can't guarantee your life. Ariel will hate you too."
"Of course," she nodded. "I'll never do something like that."
"Perfect," I smiled. "I'm leaving now. Get to work before I break one of your weak bones."
She scurried off like a rat immediately and soon disappeared into the kitchen while I made my way out of the house.
"I'll be back, my prince charming," I smiled. "I'll have you and no one else will."
After walking a good distance from his house and almost at mine, my phone rang. I took it out and checked the caller ID, and it was just the person I needed to speak to.
"Hello, Ariel," I said into the phone. "How are you doing?"
"Nevermind that," she replied. "What's going on now?"
"First of all, I would advise that you put a leash around your dog's neck," I said. "He's messing things up."
"Huh?" she asked, sounding genuinely confused. "What dog?"
I rolled my eyes in response. "Asher of course."
"Asher?" she asked, her tone changing from confused to worried. "What did he do?"
"He confronted the Northerner, telling him that the Alpha's daughter is his girlfriend," I replied. "I'm posing to be you right now so he thinks I'm the one Asher is dating."
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said immediately. "I haven't told him of our plan yet because he seems to be avoiding me lately. I'll do my best to let him know and make sure he doesn't get in the way."
"Good," I nodded. "And one more thing."
"What is it?"
"It's inevitable that he would meet you at some point, we are just trying to make sure he doesn't marry you when he does, understand?"
"Yes?"
"So when he does meet you," I smiled. "Take a leaf from my book and be the worst bitch you could possibly be to him."
