Chapter 23
SOMEWHERE IN THE NORTHERN PACK
FELIX~~~~
I sat at the bar of the club with my whiskey as I waited for a buyer. He was supposed to meet me today but he's running late. I've been here for almost thirty minutes now. I already made up my mind that if he wasn't here by the time I finish this cup of whiskey then I'm leaving. I've got better things to do and I'm only here because I'm low on cash.
"Hey, Peter," I called to my wolf. I had a pact with my brother when we were younger to give our wolves each other's names so that we can feel closer to each other. Of course, that was before the pack's politics and my father's scorn pushed me and my brother apart until he was eventually murdered in cold blood.
"Yes, sir," he said submissively. I have tamed Peter since I was fifteen, taught personally by Jimmy as the most efficient way to use my wolf to his highest potential and get stronger faster. He has always thought of my wolf as stronger than Peter's, and that was around the time Peter was being hailed as better than me so I enjoyed taming my wolf while thinking of him as my brother.
"Have you noticed anything weird?" I asked. "This job is beginning to feel fishy."
"None, sir," he replied. "I would inform you once I do."
"Good boy," I said. "Now shut up and focus."
"Yes, sir," he replied and obeyed. I would admit that I loved controlling Peter. He was the only thing I could control in my life right now as every other thing is falling apart. That was the only thing I loved among the things Jimmy has done to me. This power would also be the one to kill him.
The club was a mess as I looked around. There were too many werewolves and vampires mixed in with the humans. I won't be surprised if a lot of people are either killed, kidnapped, or turned tonight. It was a little bit exciting as I watched the plethora of activities going on.
A guy in the corner was too drunk to move anymore while his friends kept forcing more in his mouth. Among the friends was a female vampire. She looked interested in the drunk guy as she joined the others to get him to drink some more. She felt my eyes on her and turned immediately to glare at me, knowing I was a werewolf. I shrugged at her but held her gaze. Confirming I wasn't against her actions or after her, she turned back to continue what she was doing while I looked away.
The whole of the club was noisy and my enhanced senses made it even worse. The sounds of smooches, laughs, pukes, moans and some guys fucking in the bathroom threatened to drive me crazy. This stupid client makes me want to kill him when he comes around.
"I sense something, sir," Peter said calmly. "A human. He's walking directly towards us."
"Good work," I said perceiving the mundane scent of humans and this one seemed familiar.
The expected guest walked out and to my surprise it was Theo. This fucker.
"Hey," he said sitting on an empty seat beside me.
"What the fuck do you think you are doing?" I asked. "Why did you contact me with a different number and not tell me who you were?"
"Because if you knew you wouldn't have come," he replied with a smile. He had a black eye, a swollen cheek, and a few loose teeth.
"Of course, I wouldn't," I said. "I already told you guys that I won't be selling y'all this stuff anymore. Your friend died from overdosing, can't you get a hint from that? Y'all make up weird stuff when you're high."
"I'm not Spark, Royce," he said firmly. "I had a bad day on Friday so I just want something to help me get some weight off my chest. That's not wrong, right?"
"Yeah, no shit about you having a bad day yesterday," I said. "What happened to you? You look like you were beaten to a pulp."
"Some random guys jumped me," he said quickly. "Ignore that and tell me if you wanna sell or not."
"Of course, I will," I said. "I need the cash anyway. Was just making light conversation."
"Good, how much is it?" he asked.
"Eight hundred bucks," I replied showing him the drugs.
"What?!" he asked with surprise in his voice. "This much is only worth about four hundred bucks or less."
"You wasted my time bitch," I said. "I was here for more than thirty minutes.
"I had to go through some stuff to get in, bro," he complained. "I'm not yet twenty-one, you know?"
"Well, you would have chosen a different place or made your preparations before now. You gotta pay for my time and it's not optional. You also cannot decide not to buy these drugs. I'll kill you if you do."
"This is so fucking unfair, man," he said reluctantly giving me the money.
"I'm neither your man nor your bro, don't ever call me that," I warned.
"You were cool with it before though," he said.
"People change and I have," I said immediately. "I'll rip your teeth out if you call me that again."
"Fine," he said. "When would you be getting a new batch."
"In three days at most," I said gulping down the last of my whiskey.
"Okay then, I'll contact you then," he said.
"Don't be late," I warned. "You would be paying more than this if you are."
"Yeah, got it," he said. "I have a question though."
"We're here," Noel said into the inconspicuous earphone in my ear.
"Get out," I said to Theo immediately.
"I said I have a......"
"Get out, bitch," I glared at him. "Get the fuck out of my sight now."
"Fine, sheesh," he groaned and stood up. "Such a stuck-up dickhead," he mumbled as he left but I ignored him since a human's ear wasn't supposed to hear that far in all this noise. I was also too busy to care about a piece of trash like him.
Meeting that brat wasn't the only reason I came to this club today. I also came here as a part of a plan with Noel and Bonnie who plan to negotiate terms with Frederick, the one in charge of this operation. His name and notoriety have been the talk of werewolves for decades now.
They said it took the two strongest werewolves which included Jimmy and the former Alpha of the Shadow Moon pack, to defeat him during the war. He was that powerful back then, but he was injured in his fight with the werewolves which made him considerably weaker than he was before while Jimmy grew explosively stronger over the years. He wouldn't be a match for Jimmy now and that was the major factor in deciding this negotiation.
I had the few pack members I had left stationed in strategic places around the club just in case Frederick pulled anything funny on us. I also had some stationed outside for surveillance.
I watched as Noel walked in together with Bonnie dressed well enough to blend in easily. Frederick and two other guys came in tow, one of which I assume would be his closest aide at the moment, Dandridge along with a werewolf woman. She looked like a captive and locked eyes with me for a brief second before looking away. She looked really familiar like I'd known her before.
They sat in a dark corner at the far end of the club while I looked away to avoid suspicion.
"Let's start," Frederick said. "Let's ruin the mockery of peace the North and South are trying to forge."
