Chapter 31

DEXTER~~~~

"Dexter!" she yelled into the phone. "You fucking little messed up piece of shit! Get your fucking paws off my daughter!"

"Wow," I smiled. "You're quite feisty, aren't you?"

"You fucking piece of fucking shit!" she yelled. "If you fucking touch my daughter, I'll....."

"You'll what?" I asked. "Gang up on me and run away like you did the last time?"

Owen stood there staring at me with a puzzled expression. He had no idea what we were talking about and it was obvious that he didn't like being oblivious.

"What do you want, Dexter?" she asked. "I already told you I can't find a cure. I don't have the means and the power of the spell is immense. There's nothing else I can do."

"Really?" I asked. "Then why did you run away instead of explaining?"

"Would you even listen?" she asked. "You were so mad when I said I didn't have a solution yet that you almost attacked me."

"I wanted to attack you," I said. "You should have stayed put and taken it. I wouldn't have had to do this if you had just been a good girl and stayed put."

"What are you gonna get from hurting my daughter?" she asked. "The girl isn't even a witch."

"Hmmm, you know I've thought of that too," I said. "The answer is nothing. I would gain nothing at all. But, what if I tell her that her supposed mom was alive and well? I could also spread her picture around too. I am pretty sure your enemies would love to have some fun with her as payback. That's why you left her, right?"

"Are you that cruel?" she asked. "She's about your sister's age. Would you want someone else to do that to your own sister?"

"Nope," I replied. "Because no one can. That's what power does. That's why powerless people like you shouldn't annoy the powerful ones like me."

"You're only doing this because she isn't here," she retorted. "If she was then you would at least have to thread with caution since you got a painful souvenir the last time you didn't."

"Don't make me mad," I growled. "That lineage is the only lineage that is truly powerful among you witches. That's why you all tend to hide behind them."

"I don't deny it," she laughed. "But can you accept the fact that her power is the reason why you are making me research your curse instead of finding her? Can you admit that you're scared of what she'll do next when you meet her?"

"You seem to forget that she ran because she was scared," I growled. This bitch was already beginning to get on my nerves.

"What are you talking about?" Owen asked. He had been observing and watching me since the conversation started, trying to figure out a clue from my words. However, he couldn't find any since the phone wasn't on loudspeaker and I was vague with my words.

"Oh? Your friend is there, huh?" she laughed. "I bet you haven't told your Beta anything yet."

"Yeah, keep running your mouth," I laughed. "I would be sending you your daughter's pinky in a bit." Owen froze at that. "And I will take one more for every second you waste before telling me your location."

"What the fuck is your problem?!" she asked. "What do you want?"

"Nothing much," I shrugged. "I just wanna bully you to my heart's content."

"If I let you satisfy your wish, would you let her go?"

"Why else would I keep her?" I asked. "As you said, she's basically my sister's age."

"Fine," she sighed. "Give me a minute." The line went silent as I assume she is deliberating with the other witches.

"What do you intend to do?" Enzo asked. "Beat them up?"

"Done with your tantrum?"

"Answer the fucking question."

"I won't. Now fuck off," I hissed.

"Fine," she said coming back on. "I'll tell you where we are but on the condition that you wouldn't do anything to hurt my daughter directly or indirectly."

"That promise would have to hold off until you can fulfil your side of the bargain," I said. "Where are you?"

"I can't tell you," she said.

"Really?" I asked. "Then I assume you don't care about what happens to your daughter."

"Let me finish," she hissed. "I can't tell you but I'll take you there."

"I'm cool with that," I smiled. "I want every member of your coven who was with you on that day to be present."

"Why?" she asked. "I'm the one you want."

"I just told you the opposite," I sighed. "I want you and every member of your coven who was present on that day."

"So you really plan on killing them all, huh?" Enzo asked.

"None of your business," I replied.

"Fine," she said. "But I would need more than the promise not to hurt my daughter. You might have leverage on me but you have nothing on the others. They wouldn't all risk their lives because of me or my daughter."

"I guess the bond of sisters isn't that strong, huh?" I laughed. "What do you want then?"

"You have to promise not to hurt any one of them," she said firmly. "Do what you will to me but not them."

"Hmmm," I said. "We'll discuss that when I meet you all. I might not hurt them but they have to pay for interfering in my business so it's their choice in the end. I'll find them either way."

I heard a little scuffle in the background and a different older voice came on. "Listen brat! You've made a huge mistake threatening one of our own. You'll pay for this in the most painful way imaginable!"

"You antagonize me and then blame me for fighting back?" I asked. "That's quite petty."

"We just saved a sister from getting hurt by you!" she yelled. "Even your father was not this much of a tyrant!"

"I'm not my father!" I growled. "And I don't want to talk to you anymore. Give the phone back or I hurt the girl. You should have realized that I'm quite good at throwing a tantrum."

"I'm here," Deliah said quickly.

"If we're done talking then I'm waiting," I ordered. "You've been to my office once before."

"Yeah," she said and ended the call."

"What are you doing?" Owen asked as he watched me curiously. "Whatever it is, I know it's nothing good so I'll advise that you don't go through with it."

"I don't care about your advice, Owen," I retorted.

"And I won't let you harm the girl," he glared at me with defiant eyes as he stood defensively at the door.

"See what you get for being weak?" Enzo sneered. "Even your Beta now believes he can stop you from doing what you want."

"Are you defying me?" I asked standing up and ignoring Enzo. "Are you, Owen defying me?"

"No," he said nervously. "But I also won't let my friend hurt an innocent human who also happens to be his woman's friend. You wouldn't only let yourself down, but you would scar Isabelle for life and she would resent you."

And who gave the authority or permission to worry about me and my relationship?"

"I'm sorry if I seem intrusive," he replied. "But I've grown to see you and Isabelle as my family. I can't let anyone of you go astray or hate each other."

"I'm not your family, I am your employer," I stated. "You have no right to concern yourself with me or my family. Your service is to me and the pack alone. Every other thing isn't any of your concern. Have you got that, Owen?"

"Yes," he replied. "Then I would implore you to please kill me before you lay a hand on that girl. I wouldn't want to be alive to see that sight so it's only fitting that my employer does the job of killing me."

"Shut up and get out," I ordered. I could already feel foreign energy and I don't want Owen to see what Deliah looks like.

"I would rather no....."

"That's an order," I glared at him with glowing eyes. "An order from your Alpha."

"Yes, sir," he said and walked out.

I let out a sigh as I shook my head. I should listen to Darius and be a lot more strict with Owen. I've been nice to him because we both grew up in the pack.

I let out a sigh. I would be leaving for the pack in a bit so I need to tie up the loose ends here.

"Do you think I should make I should kill them and get this over with?" I asked Enzo.

"Then you would never get the answers that you need and that curse would persist."

"Your suggestion?"

"I think you should kill them," he said anyway. "We should damn the consequences and go back home. We would find a solution when we get there."
