Doubts

Andrew stared at the hysterical girl in confusion, he didn't understand anything, when he walked in he was happy that she was awake because even though Pearl never said anything or talked much about her sister, he understood that deep inside she longed for her presence, Andrew was bemused by the sudden outburst not that she was scared of him but also calling him a rapist, he wasn't comprehending that part at all, why would he rape someone he had never met in his life? He never lived a reckless life when he was much younger, he hardly got drunk or went to useless parties like his friends, and he didn't earn a first-class degree in one of the best universities in America for nothing.
"Rapist, getaway!!!" Kylie kept screaming and pointing at Andrew.
"Kylie calm down please, this isn't good for you" Pearl cautioned trying to tighten her hold on her but Kylie was becoming violent.
The images of him raping her made Kylie more aggressive, the memories were rushing into her mind so fast.
"Andrew, what have you done to her?" Pearl yelled at him, she was also as perplexed as he was but Kylie was insisting that he raped her, that was a grievous allegation that she wasn't pleased hearing.
Andrew was stunned, was she doubting him now?
"I-I don't know what she is saying, I have… never raped… anyone in my life!" Andrew stuttered, anxiousness got the better part of him, being accused of rape in America or the entire world was a terrible crime that not only make a person serve jail time but also tarnish his image forever, it would bring his name to the mud, all his hardships and pain, the poverty he had to endure would be all for nothing!.
"Leave!" Pearl shrieked, making him flinch a bit.
Pearl yelled again "Go call the doctor!"
Andrew rushed out of the room, he came back with the doctor. The male doctor and a nurse walked briskly to Kylie acting in a deranged manner, the doctor immediately injected a sedative into her system, and Kylie passed out.
The nurse took Pearl away from the bed, and the doctor examined Kylie and covered her up, Pearl was visibly worried by the whole situation.
Pearl rubbed her chest gently, having a bad feeling she refused to glance at Andrew because it might not be a good idea.
"How is she, doctor?"
"She is fine but has to rest for now, but what triggered her outburst?" Ivan asked curiously, staring at both of them.
Andrew sighed "I think she was being delusional or hallucinating"
"Are you trying to call my sister crazy?" Pearl interjected fiercely, her gaze on Andrew scorching and filled with anger.
"No, it might have been a brain surgery but we examined her and the results came out good, there were no issues or damage impaired to her brain or nerves, it was a successful surgery" Ivan defended not just himself but the hospital, his surgeons hardly made mistakes.
Ivan narrowed his gaze at both of them, there was an awkward silence for a while, but Ivan suddenly broke it, "She just needs to rest, I think you both should leave the room for now"
Andrew and Pearl left the room, Ivan didn't talk further with them, he let them alone even when he sensed tension between them but they were a couple and could sort themselves out.
Pearl stared blankly and the role of seats with few people waiting, Pearl slowly sat down, she palmed her face and different thoughts filled her mind, confusing and agitating thoughts, it was almost impossible for Andrew to be a rapist, she might have not known him for a long time but he had never been an aggressive person even Jennifer knew he wasn't but out of the blue, he becomes a rapist, there must be some confusion or mix up.
If he was a rapist he would be violent in bed, but last night, he was sweet and gentle, and even when he was rough he never hurt her, he had control of everything or was that just a pretense to mask his cruelty. Many things didn't add up for her, Andrew's place is nowhere near their neighborhood, how would he have found Kylie and raped her? it made no sense to her, it was perplexing.
Andrew walked to her and sat beside her, Pearl wasn't aware of his closeness to her but his voice brought her from her trance-like state. "Pearl" His voice was low and soft, Pearl flinched a little but didn't move from him.
He dropped the bouquet by his side.
"Blue, I don't know what your sister is talking about, I have never met her before, how could I have raped an unfamiliar person?"
“Maybe you were drunk?“Pearl wanted to give that response but she kept it to herself.
Andrew saw doubt in her eyes"Do you trust me? , Pearl"
Pearl steadied her gaze and could see the sincerity in his eyes, people always say that the eyes don't lie "Yes I do trust you, it's just that -"
"Shhh," He shushed and placed his finger on the middle of her lips.
"That's all I want to hear," Andrew smiled. "How did your sister get raped?"
Pearl sighed "I didn't see anything, I was informed by my neighbors that Kylie had been rushed to the hospital, and they told me her dress was fully stained with blood, I got scared and went to the hospital, there and then she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, it was malignant, it made her fall into a coma and an urgent surgery had to be carried out, Kylie was reported raped too, I went to the police station but they couldn't tell who the rapist was, so the case closed "
Pearl sniffed at the verge of tears, Andrew quickly pulled her into a hug" We are going to find the culprit together and bring him down "
" I hope so "Pearl sighed and hugged him back.
Andrew turned on his phone and opened his message box and sent a message to his investigator.
'I will get to the root of this' Andrew thought with a heavy frown.
