Silent fear

Pearl sat down beside her and touched her hair worriedly.
"Kylie, are you okay?" Pearl asked nervously and touched her face but there was no response from Kylie, it looked like she was lost in space or something and it scared her a bit.
"Kylie, how did you get away from the kidnappers? What happened there?" Pearl interrogated but Kylie still refused to respond to any of her questions.
"Why are you all standing here? Are you watching a family drama?" Andrew scolded the maids.
They all flinched and scurried away.
"Nuisance" Andrew scoffed.
"Kylie, were you threatened? please say something" Pearl yelled, shaking her vehemently.
Kylie refused to say anything or even look Pearl in the face, she was just looking in a particular direction like there was something there, that attracted her.
She knew perfectly well that if she paid attention to Pearl that she might spit out things that she wants to keep to herself, for now.
Pearl pulls her into one of bone-crushing Teddy bear hugs.
"Speak to me, what did they do to you?" Pearl sobbed.
"Pearl, I think that we should give her some space, crowding her is not a good option for now" Andrew reasoned to take Pearl away from there.
Pearl wiped her tears and said "You should call the cops, maybe they would be able to help us with Kylie, I don't know what's wrong with her. She's too quiet for my liking"
"Blue, relax and take a deep breath" Andrew instructed and inhaled.
She imitated his demonstration and after taking deep breaths, she eventually calmed down.
"Good girl, you have gotten Kylie back and that's what is important, the rest of our concerns can come later" Andrew smiled and called the police.
'Kylie, why aren't you saying anything? What the heck are you hiding? ' Pearl thought nervously.
Andrew ended the call and faced her.
"What did they say?" Pearl inquired and narrowed her eyes at him.
"They are on their way," Andrew answered and hugged her.
"Stop getting worried"
"I will try," Pearl sighed and hugged him.
After a few minutes, the cops arrived and went straight to Kylie to interrogate her.
"When did she arrive?" Zelda asked, curiously.
"The maids called Pearl over the phone to tell her that Kylie had returned but the problem is that she has refused to talk to any of us or say anything at all" Andrew explained.
Zelda looked at Kylie who was still in a dazed state.
"It might be a traumatic disorder from the kidnap but she will be fine soon," Zelda said.
"Just give us some time to interrogate her and I think I should handle this one, while Carl will check the security cameras outside, maybe we can find a clue from there," Zelda told her colleague who immediately left to do what he was told.
Zelda walked slowly to Kylie who was still staring into space like a zombie.
"Kylie" She called and Kylie faced her.
She sat beside her and held her hands.
"I know that this is a hard thing to go through and experience but it isn't your fault at all and you shouldn't be scared to tell us what transpired there," Zelda said and gave her a light squeeze on her palms.
"I guess that you don't know me, well I am a cop and I am responsible for this case, I came with my colleague and you would see him soon enough" Zelda smiled.
Kylie found her smile friendly and warm just like a smile your friend would give to reassure you that your secret was either safe with a turn or you could confide in them. But Kylie wasn't going to fall for it, she kept looking blankly at Zelda.
"This might be hard but we are going to start this slowly, I will ask questions and you would answer them at your own pace, alright darling?" Zelda beamed, she waited for a reply but none came.
Zelda nodded "I will take your silence as a yes, now let's talk like two grown-up women, what happened when you were kidnapped and could you identify the location?"
Kylie lowered her head and refused to respond, she simply wanted to be alone and have space to think but they refused to leave her be.
" Alright, let's skip that question, did you see your kidnapper's face? "
Kylie swallowed hard, she saw the man's face long enough to identify him and have them sketch him but she didn't want to disclose that information. She was confused about the whole kidnapping situation. Things got more complicated than she expected.
That kidnapper was confused and ended up playing with her mind. His attitude was weird, first, he kidnapped her then hit and, almost rape her but in the next hours he talks to her, treat her wounds, and then gives her a lift back home. So strange!
"Kylie, we have got to help each other here" Zelda slightly raised her voice.
Kylie snatched her hands away from her grip and shifted from her.
"I think you should give her some space and privacy" Andrew uttered, worriedly staring at Kylie.
"I think you are right, she doesn't seem in her right mind to say anything," Zelda sighed." We would come back soon, sir "
“I will call then expect you and Carl. thanks” Andrew smiled and shook hands with her.
Zelda did the same with Pearl and left the mansion to meet Carl.
"Kylie"
"I'm hungry," Kylie finally said.
They took her to the dining room and served a lot of dishes for her to eat. She began consuming them one after the other as her life depended on them she would stuff her mouth heavily with food.
"She's crazy," Pearl chuckled.
" Yeah but she's back and that's what matters the most. I thought I would lose your beautiful smile and laughter " He said and softly kissed her lips.
" I will have to get the doctor because she's acting a bit strange "He muttered on her lips.
" Alright "She smiled.
Andrew immediately called the doctor.
