To taste them

Lilith nervously fiddled with her fingers, unable to understand how to initiate. It was an intimate
gesture between two people. Apollyon held her hands, drawing tiny circles on them to calm her.
"Lilith, the kiss won't kill you," Apollyon said.
Lilith took a deep breath before exhaling it and closed her eyes in fear. She tip-toed and pressed
her soft, plump lips on his. Quickly, she withdrew, opening her eyes but stayed on her toes.
Apollyon chuckled, his arm wrapped around her waist and he drew her close. Everything
happened so fast that she didn't realize he kissed her back until his lips moved above hers.
However, that happened only once. Apollyon parted away and peered into her eyes.
"I never promised I would not kiss you back. No one can read your mind from now on," Apollyon
clarified Lilith's doubt first and assured her mind was immune from being read.
His thumb traced her bottom lip as he continued, "I would like to taste them once again.
Hopefully, the next time we have a long kiss to satiate my hunger to taste them fully."
Lilith blinked her eyes nervously and she sensed the sudden change in her heartbeat. "I still
believe we won't fall in love," she asserted and took a step back.
Apollyon smiled at her. "Illusions always bind humans. They know what their hearts say, but
they refuse to listen to it and believe in illusions created by their minds. I am an illusion breaker
and..." He took a step forward and pointed his finger toward Lilith's chest before continuing, "My
one kiss already broke the wall in your heart. I heard your unusual rhythm of beats," he stated
with a proud smile.
"I never experienced that before, that's why it happened," Lilith affirmed.
"Such a nice excuse to convince your mind. Well, we should head to your house," Apollyon
asserted and asked Lilith to follow him.
As they walked out of the chamber, Apollyon held her hand despite Lilith not wanting him to.
"You need to act like a sweet little wife from now onward. Elena notices every small detail," he
opined. Lilith relaxed her hand in his grip and the two went ahead.
For the past two days, Lilith didn't go around in the palace except Apollyon's chamber. The
servants stopped in their way with their heads low.
"Isn't it strange to have so many servants? When nobody from your family even lives here,
except for Jareth and Ragnar, who recently arrived here," Lilith said.
"A palace has a lot of work, not only serving the royalty," Apollyon gave a crisp answer.
"Will we go in the carriage? I thought you were a magical beast, who would use his magic," Lilith
remarked.
"I love to spend more time with you," Apollyon replied. "Soon, my work will occupy me, and then
you may complain of not giving you enough time," his remark appeared sarcastic.
"I won't complain. Instead, it will delight me," Lilith said in a stern tone.
"This is what I love the most in you. You are stubborn and adamant. Breaking your
stubbornness will be fun," Apollyon asserted.
As they reached the foyer, Lilith's eyes fell upon Karin, waiting outside the carriage. Her brows
frowned to see him when he bowed to them. The next second, he opened the carriage's door
and the two stepped inside.
Lilith placed her clasped hands on her lap.
"Do you dislike Karin?" Apollyon asked.
"I dislike the King, which means I dislike every devil," Lilith promptly replied, making him laugh.
"Your answers are witty and amusing," Apollyon admitted. "Where did you learn this humor?
Your father? Your mother?" He queried.
"None," Lilith replied.
"Ten years ago when I saw you first, I found you were a gentle, loving girl. Ten years later, you
turned out to be different. Seduction is filled in your eyes only for me, gentleness only for
humans, and a bit of affection toward me, which you showed in the kiss," Apollyon described her
traits, which he noticed till now.
"Why don't we not talk with each other? That way the journey to my home will be peaceful,"
Lilith stated.
"How can that be possible, Wife? Don't you think it's the time you should know about me?" He
cocked his eyebrow at her.
"Who sealed the devils?" Lilith asked.
"Change the question. I permitted you to ask about me," Apollyon stated.
Lilith bit her bottom lip and after a few seconds, she asked, "Why do you want to rule the earth?
Weren't devils supposed to live in Hell?"
"Oh, dear! We have always lived among humans. However, many humans didn't like seeing
supernatural beings like us living with them," Apollyon asserted.
"And they sealed all of you. Those humans must also be aware of the supernatural, that's why
they were capable of sealing all of you," Lilith stated, a hint of determination gleaming in her
eyes.
"You took our conversation off-topic," Apollyon reminded her.
"I never wanted to rule the earth. We had been living peacefully, but the royal family conspired
against us. That's why as soon as I woke up, I killed all of them," Apollyon said.
"But they were not your enemies. You all were sealed a long time ago," Lilith muttered.
"They belonged to the royal family. Every year they would come to the same cave to perform the
ritual to keep me asleep with the magic. They were the culprits of my agony," Apollyon
answered, his eyes turning dark red in a fury.
"Why weren't you sealed?" Lilith asked.
"That's the answer I have to find yet," Apollyon replied.
Lilith was surprised to learn that even Apollyon had limited answers.
"Have you ever loved someone before?" Lilith asked.
"Never. You are the first and you will be the last. Your husband is loyal to you only, Lilith,"
Apollyon pronounced. A smile graced his lips, making Lilith gulp.
"What if I die? I am a human," Lilith said.
"You will ask me to turn you into a devil," Apollyon affirmed as if he knew she would definitely
ask him to.
