Get used to my affection

"I heard you saw Ragnar earlier," Apollyon said, making Lilith stop chewing the food for a
moment before she swallowed the chewed food.
"I did. I asked him about you. I do not know who you are except the Devil's Lord," Lilith truthfully
replied to him.
Apollyon was amused to hear her response. "You want to know about me!? You could have
asked me," he said.
"Oh, you were busy. I thought I would meet Sister Elena during lunch and she might ask me
about you. I still do not know much," Lilith asserted and stirred the spoon into the soup.
Apollyon hummed and continued eating his meals. Lilith thought if he was upset with her that he
didn't bother to speak after that. Their lunch went in silence. Lilith dabbed the napkin across her
mouth when she heard Apollyon, "Meet me in the bedchamber. I will tell you about myself."
Lilith peered into his golden eyes as she stopped blinking for a few seconds. "In your
bedchamber?" she arched her eyebrow. "We can sit in the drawing room for the conversation,"
she opined.
"Come to the bedchamber," Apollyon said in a stern tone, rising to his feet and then leaving the
dining room.
Zoey quickly stepped up and asked Lilith she should hurriedly brush her teeth before heading to
the King's chamber. She nodded and left with Zoey. After brushing her teeth, washing her face,
she was ready to see Apollyon.
Zoey brought the perfume to spray on Lilith's neck. Lilith rubbed her wrists on her neck and
inhaled the scent.
"Her Majesty should make the advances toward the King," Zoey advised Lilith.
"I am not willing to do that. Also, Apollyon asked me to come to his bedchamber because he
wants to share about his life with me," Lilith clarified to Zoey, who hummed in acknowledgment.
Before heading out, Lilith checked herself in the mirror once and gazed at the mark. She
touched it before dropping her hand down. "I should leave," she told Zoey, who also
accompanied her.
The guards pushed open the large doors of the King's chamber for Lilith, who stepped inside.
Covering the distance to Apollyon's bedchamber, Lilith inhaled deeply. To her surprise, the door
was opened and she didn't have to knock on it. She stepped in and found Apollyon tying the
knot of his velvet upper robe.
"Close the door," Apollyon said, which Lilith promptly did. She went to the bed, where Apollyon
was already seated on one side.
Lilith settled on the other side, fiddling with her fingers when her breath hitched because
Apollyon moved close to her. She tilted her head and found his intense gaze at her.
"What do you see in my eyes?" Apollyon asked her.
"Umm... That's difficult to answer," Lilith replied. She could not sense anything in them. They
appeared still to her.
"I was born almost two thousand years ago. My mother died quite early, I guess, when I turned
3 or 4," Apollyon said and leaned back. His head rested against the headboard as his eyes
averted from Lilith. She was astonished to learn of Apollyon's age.
"My father has two wives. Jareth, Elena and Ragnar are the real siblings. I never liked my
stepmother since she tried to shower too much love on me. It felt fake to me at times," Apollyon
admitted and explained to Lilith his relationship wasn't good with his stepmother.
"Where do your father and stepmother live?" Lilith inquired.
"They rule the underworld. Hell!" Apollyon replied, "punishing the souls of evil humans and all
sorts of gruesome work happen in hell," he added.
"Umm...but living for such a long time doesn't seem enjoyable," Lilith stated.
"We are immortals. We don't find joy in most of the things," Apollyon explained to her.
"So, why were you only sealed? Why not Jareth, Ragnar and Sister Elena?" Lilith queried,
confusion evident on her face.
"They weren't on earth at that time," Apollyon replied. "Also, I hold the highest strength for
some reason among the devils. Since I can never be killed, they sealed me and with me the
other devils were forced into hell... with no way to come here," he asserted.
"Perhaps something would have happened that the humans have to do that," Lilith stated.
"Nothing happened. The royal family thought we would rule over them. Now, I am the ruling king
here," Apollyon affirmed.
"You age slowly," Lilith said. "What did you use to do that time?" she asked.
"I did nothing except keep control over devils since humans should not be harmed. There are
not many devils on earth. Majority are still humans," Apollyon proclaimed, which Lilith could not
deny. Devils were less compared to humans.
"Is there more to share?" Lilith asked with curiosity.
"I used to have a human friend named Nathan. He was a good soul," Apollyon replied, a smile
gracing his lips as he reminisced about him.
"I never wanted him to be dead. But he died unexpectedly. His father failed to pay the debt he
had secretly taken and the landlord killed them a night before he was supposed to meet me,"
Apollyon briefed her.
Lilith felt he had lost a lot in his life. He saw less than anyone on the earth. "How old was he?"
Lilith asked.
"Nathan was twenty one," Apollyon replied. "Humans can be scary. At least, among devils no
one kills the other for money. It's mostly because of conflicts," he added.
"Because money gives us survival," Lilith stated.
"You are right. Nathan was a kind hearted man. I was sick because of a poisonous plant. He
arranged the medicine for me. Even devils didn't have a cure for that. I wish I could save his
life," Apollyon said and sighed, recalling that time.
Lilith raised her hand and placed it above his hand. She caressed it and said, "He must be in
heaven, among the good souls like him." The gentle smile on her lips soothed his heart as the
wounds from the past had opened.
"Lilith," he called out her name.
"Hmm?" She lifted her eyes to peer into his.
"Thank you for listening and knowing about a part of me," Apollyon stated.
"I didn't imagine you would ever share all this with me," Lilith truthfully said.
"No one knows about Nathan except you. You are special to me," Apollyon declared and curled
his fingers around her hand. He brought it to his lips and kissed her knuckles.
Lilith withdrew her hand from his, which made Apollyon apologize for making her feel
uncomfortable.
"It wasn't uncomfortable," Lilith promptly responded. "I am not used to it," she murmured.
"Then, get used to my affection for you," Apollyon replied. His fingers grazed into her hair as he
inhaled their scent. His nose rubbed her earlobe as he continued, "I want to be loved, Lilith."
