Don't falsely blame our King

A decade of neglect had left the once charming house overrun with shrubs and debris. The front
gate was in disrepair, and the cobblestone path had been reduced to a dusty trail. The entire
neighborhood seemed deserted, shrouded in eerie silence that contrasted with its once bustling
atmosphere.
"The house looks shabby," Karin remarked with a sly smile when Apollyon reprimanded him to
be careful with his words.
"My sincere apologies, Your Majesty," Karin said.
Lilith approached the gate, trying to open it, but it was stuck. Apollyon moved forward to help
her and easily opened the gate for her.
Lilith walked inside while Apollyon followed her. She reminisced about all the memories of her
childhood, every happy and sad moment that she shared with her father. She used to run in
the foyer of the house, catch the butterflies in the springtime, and would plant trees in the
garden, surrounding the house once.
Now, it was a barren land. Lilith recalled her father told her how her mother selected the place
for their home. Lilith's mother loved the atmosphere of that place.
"I want to revive this place," Lilith stated.
"For?" Apollyon asked.
"To spend my time here. I want to take forward my father's legacy. He was the doctor to the
royal family. I do not wish to waste my knowledge and let the art go in vain," Lilith asserted and
turned around to face him.
"You cannot return ten years of my suffering. You say you love me, then you must fulfill this wish
of mine," Lilith proclaimed.
Apollyon's brows creased to hear her demand. "How am I supposed to let the Queen of Azuria
work here as a doctor? I never intended to make you suffer. Humans killed your father, not me,"
Apollyon stated.
"Are you sure? That day my father was in the palace. You slaughtered the entire royal family,
including my father," Lilith accused him again.
"I didn't kill your father," Apollyon pronounced.
Karin got furious as he overheard their conversation and approached them. "Don't falsely blame
our King," he stated.
"Karin, stay out of this," Apollyon shut him down and returned his gaze to Lilith.
"I respect the knowledge you have, but you cannot come here every day. I allow you to revive
this place. If you want to impart the knowledge you have, then you can teach the humans in the
palace and also treat the patients if you want," Apollyon provided her with some good solutions.
Karin couldn't understand why the Devil Lord would become weak in front of a human. He never
acted that way. It infuriated him.
"Lilith, I will send the people here to renovate everything here. We can come here frequently, but
not every day. I will also keep a caretaker here. You need to understand you are no longer an
ordinary woman," Apollyon asserted, his tone was gentle and calm.
After contemplating for a few seconds, Lilith agreed to Apollyon's offer. It brought a smile to his
face and he asked Karin to stay near the carriage. Karin complied with the command and
walked out.
"Shall we go into the house?" Apollyon asked her.
"Hmm." Lilith went toward the main entrance and tried opening the door. But it was jammed.
Apollyon opened it for them and went inside with her. Everything was covered in dust. A flight of
stairs led them to the second floor, where Lilith had her room.
Lilith looked at her father's painting which she made once and a smile formed on her lips.
Apollyon gazed at the painting and realized he didn't see Oliver in the palace. However, at that
moment, he remained silent.
"May I take these belongings?" Lilith asked.
"Certainly, you can," Apollyon allowed her. "I will ask Karin to bring your belongings to the
palace. You don't have to carry them," he stated.
"I don't trust Karin," Lilith murmured.
"Then, trust me," Apollyon stated. Lilith glanced at him and nodded her head slightly.
Apollyon's gaze landed on a soft toy, which was covered in the dust and he grabbed it from the
shelf. "Was it yours?" he asked at the white woolen rabbit but looked blackish now at certain
spots.
"Don't touch it," Lilith said as she placed the painting of her father on the table and went to him
to take away her toy.
Apollyon moved his hand back, not wanting to give it to her. Lilith sharply glared at him and
asked him to return that, but she could not reach his long arm. She rose on her toes and
grabbed his shoulder to reach his other arm.
"Why are you so tall?" Lilith complained and thought of something. She brought her hand to his
nape and pulled him down, their faces came closer. Apollyon arched his eyebrow in
amusement, his eyes lingered on her lips.
Lilith lowered her eyelids gracefully and whispered against his lips, "Apollyon should not fall for
a woman's tricks." She lifted her eyes to gaze at him, her hand had caught his forearm, and took
the toy from him before stepping back.
Apollyon was so lost in her eyes, and her lips that he didn't realize she tricked him.
"Seduction is a wonderful charm of a woman," Apollyon said and their eyes met. "Next time if
you seduce me, I won't stop myself from doing what I have yet to do," he asserted.
"I never seduce you. Also, you cannot do anything to me unless I allow you to," Lilith said with a
challenging smirk lying across her lips.
Apollyon closed the distance between them, his arm securely circled her waist and he pulled her
up. The sudden proximity caused Lilith's heart to race, and she swallowed nervously, trying to
maintain a stoic facade.
"Let me go," Lilith said, keeping the stoic expression on her face, though her voice trembled
slightly as his fingers gently traced the contours of her face.
"Shouldn't we head back to the palace?" Lilith asked.
Apollyon's eyes bore into hers, a mischievous glint evident in his gaze. "Oh, we will return," he
replied, his fingers now caressing under her chin.
Lilith's breath hitched as he leaned down, expecting a kiss, but instead, she felt the warmth of
his cheek brushing against hers. His closeness only made her more anxious.
"Your heartbeats are uneven again, and so is your breathing," Apollyon whispered in her ear.
Feeling overwhelmed, Lilith placed her palms against his chest, trying to push him away gently.
"Please, give me some space," she implored.
"I was scared," Lilith stated.
The devil lord smirked, seemingly amused by her response. "A fierce woman like you often
intimidates others," he remarked with a playful grin.
