Anger

CHAPTER TEN

Christain’s POV

I lay on the ground exhausted from the battle. I saw through my eyes that the Dragon Riven in his human form fled in a hurry. I wanted to chase after him but I passed out for a few minutes. When I reopened my eyes, Hazel, the girl who had saved my life from Riven, was lying next to me, also unconscious. I shook her awake and saw that she was badly injured from saving me from Riven's attack.

"Hazel, wake up. Please, you have to wake up," I said, desperately trying to rouse her from her unconscious state.

She mumbled something in response, but I couldn't make out the words. I looked at her injuries and saw that they were severe. She needed medical attention, and fast.

I gathered her in my arms and carried her back to the school. We entered through the library and I began to shout for help. I was relieved when a group of students and teachers came rushing to our aid.

I carried Hazel to the school's dean, who took us to the hospital. The doctors and nurses were shocked by the extent of Hazel's injuries, but they quickly set to work to treat her. I stayed by her side the whole time, holding her hand and praying for her recovery. During these days, a doctor brought some medicine that was said to be very effective, but he put it down and hurried out.

After a long period of treatment, Hazel's condition began to improve. Her breathing became stable and she eventually woke up. I was so relieved to see her eyes open, even if they were still hazy with pain and confusion.

I let her rest in the hospital, staying by her side as she slept for several hours. When she finally woke up again, I thanked her for saving my life.

"Hazel, I can't thank you enough for what you did. You saved my life," I said, my voice choked with emotion.

She looked embarrassed for a moment, but then she smiled weakly. "It was nothing, really. I'm just glad you're okay," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I took her hand in mine and squeezed it gently. "You're very brave, Hazel. I don't know what I would have done without you," I said.

She blushed, looking both humble and complimented.

“Thank you. I just did what anyone else would have done in that situation.” She said to me.

“Alright well I’m going to take off. Thank you again.” I said to her. She smiled at me.

“Goodbye Christain” She said.

I left the schools hospital and headed back to my dorm. Anger was building inside of my chest. Of course I was grateful for Hazel saving my life but I was also pissed off.

What Hazel did not know is that I secretly blamed her for my failure to kill the dragon. I blamed her for ruining my plan in my heart. I believed I could have been safe and killed the dragon if Hazel hadn't taken the blow herself.

If Hazel hadn't interfered, Riven probably wouldn't have gotten away. I blamed her for Riven escaping too. Hazel was this careless classmate of mine with almost no powers. I was very dissatisfied with her, how dare she interfere in a powerful students plans? What was she even doing in the forest anyways? Weak students were told to stay away from the battle, and she had just inserted herself and ruined my plan.

My ancestors had defeated dragons before, it was in my blood, and Hazel had ruined my destiny. I was emotionally conflicted, grateful for her but also angry with her. I finally settled on anger.

A feeling of reluctance rose in my heart, and I left the hospital vowing to myself to defeat Riven the next time I saw him and permanently lock him in purgatory.
