My guardian angel

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Hazel’s POV

I went through my classes like normal and came back to my dorm room later. To my surprise, Hannah was talking and chatting to Riven like normal.

“Hannah? What are you doing?” I asked her, Hannah had packed up all of her belongings for some reason.

“Hey! I just met your new friend. He thought it would be a good idea for me to move to another dorm.” Hannah said to me.

“Did he now?” I asked Riven, pinching my own skin so he would feel pain.
“Yup, I think it would be a great idea.” Riven winked at me.

“And you’re sure you’re okay with this?” I asked Hannah, she nodded.

“Yes! Riven convinced the Dean to give me a solo suite too, I’m so excited!” Hannah said cheerfully. Almost suspiciously cheerfully.

“Well, alright, do you need help moving?” I asked her.

“I already helped her get settled today, while you were in class.” Riven winked again at me. I was going to kill this man.

“Well, great! I guess I’ll just see you around.” I said to her. Riven, with a huge grin on his face, opened the door for Hannah and ushered her out of the room. Once we were alone I turned to Riven, livid.

“You charmed her?!” I asked him. Riven shrugged.

“I need you focused on fixing the book.” He said to me.

“You manipulated my roommate! Why would I help you?” I asked him angrily.
“Hey I got her a great room.” He said.

“How did you talk to the Dean without being recognized?!” I asked him.

“Simple cloaking spell.” He shrugged again. He was acting way too casual about this.

“Well, you’re ruining my life! I’m not fixing that book for you!” I said to him, grabbing a snack from my dorm and leaving again.

“Where are you going now?” Riven asked me.

“To work Riven!” I said back annoyed.

“I’ll come with you.” He said, jumping off my bed and following me into the hall. I groaned and rolled my eyes.

Riven’s POV

I followed Hazel to the school library, very pleased with myself for convincing her roommate Hannah to move out. Hazel and I went to the library together. At the moment, a girl named Elisa found the library and asked to borrow some books. Seeing the arrival of the Elisa, Hazel hurriedly made me hide, and then ran out to greet her.

"Hi Elisa, how can I help you?" Hazel asked.

"I'm looking for some magic books to help me prepare for my entrance examination," Elisa replied. "Do you have any recommendations?"

"Of course," Hazel said, taking the request very seriously. "What level of magic are you studying?"

"I'm the highest level magician, you know that," Elisa said. I didn’t like how Elisa was talking to Hazel, something seemed off about her.

“Oh, of course Eliza, I didn’t mean to offend you.” Hazel said nervously.

Hazel nodded and began searching the shelves for the most suitable book for Elisa to practice with. But as she worked, Elisa became increasingly frustrated and angry.

“This one should be perfect.” Hazel said.

“No, this one sucks, try another.” Elisa said, ordering Hazel around. Hazel was at a loss, unsure of what was causing Elisa's mood change.

“Maybe this one?” Hazel asked, it was clear from her voice that she was afraid of the Elisa girl.

“Are you blind? I said upper level magic, this is for losers.” Elisa scoffed.

“A-are you sure there isn’t something else?” Hazel asked nervously.

Finally, Elisa revealed the real reason for her visit. "I heard that you were injured recently and Christain stayed by your side to help you recover," she said, jealousy evident in her voice. "I just wanted to know if you have a crush on him."

Hazel hesitated, unsure of how to respond. It seemed She didn't want to admit to having feelings for Christain, especially not in front of Elisa.

"I see," Elisa said, a hint of anger in her voice. "Well, I just wanted to know. If you do have feelings for him, I'd appreciate it if you could stay away from him."

Hazel remained silent. But as the tension between them grew, it was clear that their conversation was far from over.

Elisa turned away to go, but to my surprise, Hazels voice filled the empty library.

“You don’t own him.” Hazel said quietly.

Elisa turned around.

“What did you just say to me?!” She asked Hazel angrily. Hazel refused to say anything.

“Say it again!” Elisa said in a high pitched voice.

Despite Hazel's silence, Elisa's anger reached a boiling point and she walked up to Hazel. Elisa threatened to hit Hazel. But Hazel still refused to admit to having a secret crush on Christain.

“Tell me the truth now, or I’ll hurt you.” I heard Elisa say. Oh hell no, this Elisa girl was not about to just bitch slap me through my weird physical connection with Hazel.

Just as Elisa was about to strike, I disguised myself as a student from the college who had come to borrow books. I had taken a similar disguise before to speak to the headmaster and Hazels roommate Hannah. He was a rather dashingly handsome version of me. Just a few inches shorter, blue eyes instead of the snake like dragon ones.

I turned the corner to see that Elisa had backed Hazel up into a bookshelf.

"What are you doing, Elisa?" I asked. "Bullying a librarian with low magic power? How embarrassing for your father, the professor at this school."

Elisa was startled by my sudden appearance and was unable to see through my true identity as the evil dragon everyone was hunting.

“H-how do you know my name?” Elisa asked me, fixing her school uniform and batting her eyes at me.

“Magic, some people actually know how to use it.” I said to her. Elisa’s ego began to quickly crumble. She arrogantly tried to use her identity as the college professor's daughter to intimidate me, but I was not impressed.

“My father is a professor here you know-” She began, I cut Elisa off, not interested in this little girls game.

"If you're going to be a bully, then don't expect me to just let you go," I said firmly. "I might have to hurt you, just to teach you a lesson."

As Elisa scoffed and tried to walk away, I casually put up a forcefield around her with a snap of my fingers. Frightened by my display of magic power, Elisa had no choice but to stop.

“Fine-fine let me go!” She half screamed. I snapped my fingers again and she was allowed to leave.

But before leaving, she warned Hazel not to have any delusional relationship with Christain. She mocked Hazel's humble background and finally walked away with a book.

“Don’t think either of you will get away with this!” She said, running away from Hazel and I very nervously.

Hazel seemed very shaken up by this. I just laughed.

“Why are you laughing?” Hazel asked. I turned to her and laughed more. Her face was so depressed.

“Oh you’re serious.” I said, fearing that if I offended Hazel she may cry again.

“Don’t let a child like that bother you.” I said to her. Hazel just shrugged.

What Elisa said had left Hazel feeling depressed and unable to eat for the rest of the day. I knew I had to do something to help her, so I decided to take her out for some ramen noodles.

As we were served food at the restaurant, I begged Hazel to eat something. "Please, Hazel," I said. "I know you're upset, but you need to eat. Your empty stomach is making mine hurt, and we share a physical body, remember?"

Finally, Hazel greed to try some ramen noodles. Every bite of food she had made my stomach hurt less and less. I enjoyed watching her eat and feel joy, it made me also feel joy.

As we continued to eat, a waiter approached me with an envelope from Maximus. It had my royal seal on it, and inside was a note saying that there was news of the lost artifact I needed to survive.

I read the note quickly and then looked up at Hazel. "I have to go see Maximus right away," I said. "There's been a development with the artifact I've been searching for."

“Hazel please, for both of our safety, please repair the book.” I begged her. Hazel looked me up and down curiously. Her eyes were so beautiful, but I needed to focus on what was more important.

“Please.” I repeated.

“Sure, I will do it.” She said to me.

Hazel nodded, understanding the urgency of the situation. I left the table and headed out to meet Maximus and learn more about the lost artifact.
