Sneering
CHAPTER NINETEEN
HAZELS POV
As I trudged back to the library, my thoughts kept returning to the entrance exam that Christain had mentioned. How could I have been so careless as to forget about such an important thing? I berated myself for not practicing more and for letting my mind wander during the briefing.
But as I walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of annoyance at the thought of Riven forcing me to fix the Book of Fate. I was just an administrator who had recently taken over the library, and I had no experience in repairing magic books. I had always felt a sense that I was capable of more, but I just couldn't seem to grasp it.
I was just an administrator who had recently taken over the library, and I had no experience in repairing magic books. I had always felt a sense that I was capable of more, but I just couldn't seem to grasp it. However, I knew that I had to try in order to avoid making Riven angry and possibly risking my own life.
As I walked through the courtyard of the university, I saw a group of students gathered together, chatting and laughing. When they saw me, their laughter turned to jeers and taunts. "Looks like you'll be failing the entrance exam again this year," one of them called out. "You might as well give up now."
"Looks like you're going to fail again," one of them jeered.
I felt my face turning red with anger and embarrassment. But then, I remembered Christain's words and the gem he had given me, and the encouragement he had offered. I stood up straight and raised my chin, determined to show them what I was made of.
I took a deep breath and looked at the students, my expression serious. "I will pass the entrance exam," I said firmly.
But my words were met with more laughter and ridicule. "You're deluding yourself," one of my classmates sneered. "You don't have the skills or the talent to succeed."
“You’re just a lower level magic student, you will fail the exam.” A girl said to me. I felt that I may cry, but I tried to remain strong.
I took a deep breath and looked at the students, my expression serious. "I will pass the entrance exam," I said firmly. "And I will get a grade that no one could have imagined."
My classmates all began laughing. My words only seemed to amuse the students even more. Normally, their bullying would have made me sad, but the confidence I had from Christains gem made me strong.
I didn't let their words get to me. I stood tall and strode away, determined not to let them see that their insults had affected me. However, they followed me, taunting and jeering as they approached, and even the girls who used to bully me joined in.
Just as I was starting to feel overwhelmed, Riven suddenly appeared out of nowhere, his sudden appearance shocking everyone into silence. No one dared to say a word as he stood there, looking at the group of students with a stern expression.
His presence was so intimidating that everyone fell silent.
"What's going on here?" he demanded, looking around at the students.
No one said a word, but I could feel their eyes on me. I was afraid that Riven would scold me for making a scene, but instead, he looked at me with a strange expression on his face.
"Come with me," he said, and I followed him out of the courtyard.
As we walked away, I couldn't help but feel relieved that Riven had come to my rescue. But at the same time, I was afraid of what he might do or say next.
After a tense moment, Riven turned to me and gestured for me to follow him. I did so, grateful to be away from the jeering classmates. As we walked away, I could feel their disdainful glances following us, and I knew that they would do everything in their power to make my life difficult during the exam.
I clenched my fists, determined not to let their words get to me. I knew that I had to believe in myself and my abilities if I was going to prove them all wrong. And so, with a renewed sense of determination, I decide to set out to study and prepare for the entrance exam, determined to prove to everyone that I was capable of greatness.
As we approached the library, Riven turned to speak to me, a scowl on his face. "You're late," he said gruffly.
I tried to apologize, but he cut me off. "I don't have time for your excuses. The Book of Fate needs to be repaired, and you're the only one who can do it."
I stammered, trying to protest. "But I don't know how to repair magic books. I've never even tried before."
Riven's scowl deepened. "You'll figure it out. The fate of the magic dimensions depends on it."
I swallowed nervously, knowing that he was right. The Book of Fate was one of the most powerful magical artifacts in the dimensions, and if it fell into the wrong hands, it could be used to wreak havoc and destruction.
