Hypocritical Christain
CHAPTER TWENTY
Hazel’s POV
Riven told me that he learned that there was a clue to the artifact, and before leaving, he asked me to repair the book. I nodded in agreement, seeing Riven leave, I looked at the potion I had bought from the Dark Night Bazaar. Thinking that although the Elisa had warned me just now to stay away from Christain, I figured it would be a pity not to send the potion, so I planned to sneak out and give the potion to Christain.
I walked back to Campus and found Christain in a clubs room. It was an old converted classroom that the upper level magic students used exclusively.
"Hey Christain, do you have a minute?" I asked as I approached him.
Christain looked up from his book, his face annoyed. "Can't you see I'm busy?" he snapped. My face dropped. Did he hate me? I wondered.
When Christain saw it was me his angry demeanor quickly changed. He gave me a warm smile.
“Sorry Hazel, what’s up?” He asked me.
I flinched at his harsh words, but I knew I had to talk to him. "I'm sorry, but it's important," I said.
Christain sighed and put down his book. "It’s no problem, what is it?" he asked, his tone a bit more friendly.
“Is everything okay?” I asked Christain.
Christain let out a frustrated sigh. "I've been trying to track the evil dragon down for days, but I can't find any trace of him. It's driving me crazy."
I nodded sympathetically. "I know it's frustrating, but we have to keep searching. We can't give up now."
I felt bad lying to Christain, I had just been with Riven.
“I’m sure my fathers army and I will figure it out. How are your injuries?” Christain asked me.
I smiled and blushed at his care. I felt my heart melt.
“They’re okay. I’m fine.” I said to him.
As we spoke, I couldn't help but think about the potion I had bought from the Dark Night Bazaar. I knew that Elisa had warned me to stay away from Christain, but I figured it would be a pity not to give him the potion. So I made a decision to give it to Christain anyways.
Christain noticed my hesitation and asked with a smile, "Is there something else you wanted to tell me?"
I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should go through with my plan. But then I remembered the look of worry on Christain's face when he asked about my injuries, and I knew I had to do something to help him.
"Actually, there is something I wanted to give you," I said, pulling out the potion from my pocket. "It's a special elixir that will help you with your magic. I know you're preparing for a war, and I thought this might help."
Christain's eyes lit up as he took the potion from me. "Thank you, this means a lot to me," he said, his gratitude clear in his voice. "I promise to use it wisely."
I nodded, feeling relieved that I had done something to help Christain.
“And, erm. There is one more thing. I made you this.” I said to Christain, pulling out a bracelet that I made for him ages ago.
“Oh, thank you?” He asked me, looking it over.
“It has some healing powers.” I explained to him, Christain looked back up at me.
“Thanks Hazel, you’re a sweet girl” Christain winked at me.
“Here, take this.” He said, giving me a small gem. I held it in my hands with a warm heart, maybe Christain liked me too.
“You still don’t seem happy.” I said, seeing Christains stressed face.
Christain just smiled and shook his head. "It's nothing," he said. "Just thinking about the entrance examination coming up. It's a lot of pressure."
"I know what you mean," I said. "But we just have to work hard and do our best. I'm sure we'll both do well."
Christain nodded, a determined look on his face. "You're right. We can't let anything stand in our way. You really should go study though and try to get a good grade, the tests are the most difficult for lower level magic students, you’ll have to try much harder than us upper levels."
Just then, one of Christain's friends came in and whispered something in his ear. Christain nodded and turned back to me. "Elisa is coming to talk to me," he said.
I nodded, knowing that Elisa had asked me to stay away from Christain.
I said, "Oh, yes, my friend wants to see me. Yes." Then I hurried away.

Riven’s POV
After hours of searching, I still had no luck in finding the artifact. Frustration and worry began to set in, and I knew I had to act fast. That's when I remembered the dark night market where I had rescued Hazel before. It was a dangerous place, but it was worth a shot.
"Maxius," I said, turning to my faithful companion. "I need you to investigate the night market. See if you can find any information about the artifact."
Maxius nodded, his eyes glinting with determination. "I won't let you down," he said, before vanishing into the shadows.
I found and followed Hazel, and I saw Christain.
He pull out the potion and bracelet from his pocket. He looked at them with disgust and muttered something about throwing them away.
“I am an upper level magic student and she thinks that I need silly little trinkets? I’m a genius, what would I do with these inferior potions and a stupid bracelet, this is insulting.” He said.
"Hi Christain, what are those?" Elisa asked as she entered the room.
Christain hesitated for a moment before answering. "They're a gift for you," he said, handing them to her. "I know they're not much, but I wanted to show my appreciation."
Elisa's face lit up with happiness as she accepted the gift.
Riven, Hazel's supposed savior, was handing over the very thing that Hazel had given him to the nefarious Elisa. I couldn't believe my eyes. How could someone be so hypocritical?
Once Elisa left the classroom I calmly stood over her and snatched the potion and bracelet from her.
This made the Elisa very angry.
“Hey what the fuck?” Elisa asked me, but I just kept walking.
