Power of love

CHAPTER 11

HAZELS POV

I stayed in the hospital for a few days to recover. I could not believe that I had been to purgatory, met the dragon named Riven, and almost died. The schools dean visited me, she told me more about what had happened and how Riven had escaped and could not be found.

“I’m so sorry ma’am.” I said to the Dean after explaining what had happened to me.

The dean nodded solemnly. "You were very brave, but also very foolish for breaking the school's rule and going into battle. Lower level magic students are not meant to be involved in such dangerous situations."

"I know," I said, hanging my head in shame. "I'm sorry, ma’am. I didn't mean to cause any trouble."

"I understand," the dean said, patting my hand. "But the rules are in place for a reason. As punishment, you will have to serve three detentions."

I nodded, accepting my punishment. "I understand. Thank you for understanding."

"Just make sure to be more careful in the future," the dean said, giving me a stern look,"By the way, Pomfrey, your chief librarian has gone missing these days. Have you seen her?"

I was surprised and she nodded and then turned to leave the hospital room.

Miss Pomfrey is missing? Then what should I do?

I watched her go, feeling a mix of emotions. I was grateful for her understanding, but also frustrated with myself for getting into such a dangerous situation in the first place. I vowed to be more careful in the future.

After leaving the hospital and returning to my dorm, I quickly learned that the the whole college was under strict control and entered into a state of war. Meanwhile, the news of Riven escape from Purgatory was released to the world and gossiped about everywhere. In an attempt to find him, I heard that then all of the powerful countries were gathering to figure out a plan to encircle and kill Riven. I saw that these people were making such a big fuss, and didn't know what they were going to do.

Classes resumed as normal, but all of the students were scared. My roommate Hannah and I were very quiet as we walked to class together.

“Hey, how are you feeling today? You look like you're still in pain.” Hannah said to me.

“I'm feeling better, thanks for asking. The doctors said I should make a full recovery.” I said.

“That's good to hear. I was so scared when I heard what happened.” She said, holding my hand softly.

“Yeah, it was definitely a close call.” I said to her.

“Have you heard anything about that dragon guy Riven? I've heard people whispering that he's still out there.” She said to me.

“I haven't heard anything for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. He was, strange and powerful. Being around him felt like all of the life had been sucked out of me.” I said to her.

“It's just so scary a monster like that is out there. I don't even want to leave my dorm.” She said to me.

“I know what you mean. But we have to keep going to class and try not to let it affect us too much.” I said to her with a smile.

It seemed that everyone was on edge like Hannah. I couldn’t shake the feeling that everyone was whispering about me. In class Hannah and I sat together near the back of the room. I sunk into my chair as it seemed everyone was whispering and pointing to me. Hannah told me not to worry about what other people think.

Christain walked into class like usual, but instead of usually ignoring me, Christain took the seat to my left. Hannah, who sat to my right, was shocked to see that my long time crush was suddenly sitting next to me.

“Hey, are you guys alright?” Christain asked us. Hannah and I were both shocked. Hannah was a lot more popular than me, but not nearly as popular as Christain. It was strange that he was talking to us like we were friends, and jealous women in the classroom glared at Hannah and I.

“Oh, hi Christain. Yeah, we're doing okay. How are you?” She asked him, I was too stunned to even speak.

“I'm fine. I just wanted to check on you Hazel, and see how you're recovering.” He said to me. I hadn’t realized that my mouth had been wide open. I shut it quickly.

“Thanks, Christain. I'm doing better.” I said to him awkwardly.

“That's good to hear. Listen, can we talk after class? I have something important to discuss with you.” He said to me. Hannah made a wide eyed face to me. My cheeks blushed.

“S-sure, yeah, that sounds good.” I said to him. My cheeks were bright red but luckily the lecture had begun.

After class Christain pulled me aside into an empty classroom to talk to me. He was so handsome and we were alone in a classroom together. I wanted very badly to kiss him. We were so close in the classroom that I could smell his sweet cologne. He was so intoxicating to me.

“I just wanted to let you know that my father's army, along with the other countries' leaders, are planning to slay Riven once and for all.” Christain said.

“Really? That's great news.” I said to him.

“Yeah, so you don't have to worry about it anymore. Just leave it to the powerful magicians to handle.” He said. Ouch.

“Thanks, Christain. I appreciate it.” I said.

“No problem. Just be careful in the future and try not to get involved in things that are beyond your abilities.” He winked to me.

Despite his words stinging a bit, I couldn’t help but be starstruck by Christain. But after an entire year of watching him from afar, I could tell that something was wrong with him.

I could not help but think of Christains face and his painful expression.

I was worried as he hugged me and left. I had to figure what was going on for myself.

***

As I stood there in the school’s library, my mind was consumed with worry for Christain. My heart raced as I pulled out the book of fate from my backpack, my hands trembling with anticipation. I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the immense power that I held in my hands, and the responsibility that came with it.

As I flipped through the pages, my eyes fixated on Christain's name, hoping for a glimmer of hope. And there it was, the prophecy had changed. My heart swelled with relief as I read that Christain would be participating in the war against Riven.

But as the reality of the situation dawned on me, my mind raced with fear and anxiety. How could I protect Christain when I was nothing but a weak witch? I couldn't stand the thought of losing him, not after everything that had happened.

Determined to increase my powers, I made a bold decision to seek out a potion that could help me become stronger.

The Dark Night Bazaar was a treacherous place, filled with danger at every turn. But I was willing to do whatever it took to keep Christain safe.

As I left the library, my heart heavy with worry and my mind filled with determination, I knew that the journey ahead would be perilous. But I had to do this. For Christain, for myself, and for the fate of the world.
