Chapter 14 (2)
A car nearly drove into a woman in the middle of the street, the driver was able to stop the car just in time. He yelled at the woman but the woman seemed less concerned as she continued walking.
"Emily, Emily."
Emily turned around at the sound of her name but she wasn't sure if someone was truly calling her. After what her father told her in the hospital, she had lashed out at him and walked out of the hospital angrily. She didn't know where she was going but she had to get away from here.
The further the better for her, why did he agree to something as stupid as that.
Why did he agree to have his daughter exchanged for a debt?
His debt.
She kept walking slowly down the dark lonely streets she felt her phone ring In her pocket.
"Emily," Bella's voice rang in her head as she picked the call and brought the phone to her ear. "Where are you? I have been calling you all day," Bella continued with a worried tone.
Emily didn't know what to say or how to explain the situation, she felt a hand grab her, and before she could comprehend she felt a handkerchief around her nose.
She struggled greatly for some while but she couldn't see the face, her vision started to fail her and her knees were slumming to the ground.
She felt a cold hand wrap around her slowly as her phone fell to the ground.
"Emily... Emily.." Bella's voice echoed softly.
* * * * * * * * * * *
Leonard had traveled out of town for some business, he couldn't wait to round up here so he could get back to see what Emily had been up to. He wasn't one to call or check-up, he hadn't had anyone that would make him want to do that.
Emily's lips had crossed his thought once in a while and that was just it for him. It wasn't anything special.
He went through the files on his desk that his secretary had just handed him as a call came through on his office phone. He had placed his phone on airplane mode because he didn't want any distraction while he worked.
The only distractions he could entertain had to be work-related or an emergency.
He pressed the loudspeaker still working on his paper as his secretary's voice filled his office.
"Sir, Miss Bella said she needs to speak to you. That it's an emergency."
"Put her on," Leonard ordered still not bothered by the call, Bella was known to claim all her calls as emergencies even when she needed money to buy her useless girly stuff it was an emergency.
"Brother, I think something is wrong." Bella's voice finally came on after a beep and she seemed worried than usual which caught Leonard's attention but his blank expression and none challenge voice didn't show it.
"What?"
"Emily," Bella replied not knowing how to put her words together.
"What about her?"
Bella didn't want to call Leonard about it but she didn't have anyone that was coming to her mind that could help and she was guessing Leonard had a soft spot for Emily.
She knew something wasn't right because she had heard some awkward sound and someone saying they should put the body in the boot. That was what caught her attention the most.
Bella explained everything to Leonard, right from when Emily left the house and how strangely she had been behaving till the phone call incident.
Leonard didn't know when he had carried the phone to his ear and removed it from the loudspeaker.
"Are you sure of what you are saying?" Leonard finally spoke after some minute.
"I am sure," Bella answered.
"Alright, tell no one about it. Call me in an hour." Leonard started and ended the call. He took his phone, removed it from airplane mode, and was about to dial a number when a call came in from Jack, his driver.
He picked it immediately.
"Sir, Miss Emily is in the warehouse."
Warehouse? What nonsense was Mark saying?
"She is one of Mr. Riverstone's daughters, on your order, they kidnapped her, her sister, their mother, and M.r Riverstone."
What? Was Emily that useless man's daughter? How didn't he see it?
Well not that he bothered with his debtors, he always allowed his boys to handle the situation and he hadn't known Emily well enough to know that she was his daughter.
They had not yet had a proper conversation about themselves.
"Call them, if they touch a single hair on her head I will have their hands chopped."
"Yes Sir," Mark replied. He had panicked when he saw Emily's unconscious body in the warehouse because he knew his boss had seen her before he left on his business trip.
He asked around and found out that she was one of his debtor's daughters, he could only thank God that he had seen her before they did anything stupid to her.
He had called the office line but the secretary claimed he was on an important call at the moment so he decided to try his normal line.
"Emily might want to negotiate, do not allow her to know it is me. Let her off, she is a very smart woman."
"Yes Sir."
"I will be back tomorrow evening, I leave her in your care."
In his care? Mark wanted to repeat but he dared not. Why was he to babysit this woman? He heard a beep and knew that his boss had disconnected.
He walked back into the warehouse to inform them what Leonard had just told him and get all of the family back to their house.
The only information he hadn't given Leonard was how they had beaten Mr. Riverstone back to his early state, he knew Leonard wouldn't be bothered by it so he didn't talk about it.
It was something they did effortlessly, paid for the hospital bills then go back to inflict pain on their victims.
