Chapter 16
"Is that all Sir?"
"Is there anything you still want Emily?"
"No, I am fine," Emily replied. She had spoken to her mother on the phone and reassured her that she and Chloe would be home by evening time, when she was done with the call Leonard had left both of them to get dressed so he could take them out to dinner and as planned the bills were on Emily.
She didn't know why she had even made that offer when she still had bills to sort out, she wished she could take her words back when she heard the restaurant they were going.
She noticed Chloe seemed mesmerized by Leonard's presence and it irritated her even more when they had gotten into the car, Chloe had quickly taken the back seat forcing Emily to stay in front with the driver.
Emily had thought Leonard would protest and send Chloe away but Leonard had kept quiet all through the ride till they got to the restaurant.
It was shocking for Emily that Chloe was quiet as well, she knew Chloe would never be one to keep quiet especially when she was looking at a man that way.
It was even more shocking when Leonard drove them to a really expensive restaurant, she was truly starving but she knew she couldn't afford to waste all her money here so she decided to order something not too expensive but Leonard and Chloe had gone all the way and Chloe even dared to order a bottle of wine even after Emily had pinched her repeatedly under the table.
"So are you Emily's friend?" Chloe finally spoke, she had wanted to start the conversation in the car but she had noticed that Leonard seemed concerned about something else as his eyes were fixed outside the car and once in a while he would steal glances at Emily in front.
She didn't know why but every time he stared at her she would feel her heart skip a beat, there was something about his eyes, it was like a spear.
Even now as he glanced at her, she tried to smile back at him but she got no response from him, she decided he probably didn't hear her as Emily seemed busy pressing her phone as well.
She opened her mouth to speak again as the waiter enter with their order, he arranged it all on the table, nodded, and left them to eat.
"So are you both friends?"
"Do we look like enemies?" Leonard finally spoke when they all started eating, he had noticed Emily seemed quiet. The poor thing was probably calculating how the bloody hell she was going to pay for all of this, he was sure the food was choking her right now and he nearly smiled at it.
"Of course not, it's just... It's unusual for my sister to have friends like you," Chloe replied smiling, she loved the sound of his voice. It was soothing to her ear.
"He is Bella's cousin," Emily replied not looking at either of them but her food, she had been staring at the bowl for quite some while.
"You should eat Emily," Leonard teased but Chloe didn't get it except Emily who heard the underlining meaning, she caught his eyes and stared at him for some while before taking a big gulp and looking away when she felt Leonard placing a serviette to the side of her lips to remove some crumbs.
"Thank you," Emily appreciated. She didn't even notice when he had carried the serviette, had he been waiting for her to look up all this while?
"Wow, didn't know Bella had such a cute cousin?" Chloe grinned, if this was Bella's cousin that means he was wealthy as well because Bella was known to be very wealthy. It annoyed Chloe that Emily was always lucky enough to meet people like this while for her people like this always slipped from her hand.
Every time Leonard took his food and glanced at her, she tried to seduce him by giving him that shy look but it seemed not to be working as Leonard had this blank expression on his face, or was he pretending?
She wish she had known sooner, she would have dressed more appropriately for the occasion instead of this her shorts and shirt, she looked like she was going to the beach meanwhile Emily had freshened up and wore a lovely yellow gown.
"And how is Bella? I didn't even see her," Chloe asked not that she cared about Emily's friend but if she was Leonard's cousin then she might as well be concerned about his family.
