Chapter 9

Emily took a cab straight to Bella’s apartment from the restaurant, she needed to have a serious conversation with Bella regarding her selling drugs and if she was using it, when she got to the apartment she noticed the door was locked from the inside.

She wanted to knock but before she could the door opened as Matthew stared at her.

“Emily,” Matthew said staring at her. “I was waiting for you.”

“Where is Bella?” Emily asked looking over his shoulder, she could see Bella looking outside the window and on a phone call, and she seemed pissed off. Emily looked back at Matthew.

“Is she alright?”

“Yes, she is on the phone with her mother. Can we talk outside briefly, please?”

Her mother! Did Leonard call her mother to inform her? Emily was mad at Bella but she was also worried that her parents might not be pleased to hear what she had been up to.

“Okay,” Emily nodded as Matthew and her walked out of the apartment.

“Is everything okay?” Emily asked as they stepped outside.

“You set me up with Bella,” Matthew said.

“I didn’t mean to offend you but Bella expressed how she felt and I thought it was only right that you both discuss about it.”

“I feel really offended Emily, I don’t feel anything for Bella. I love you.”

“Love?” Emily was taken aback by his word and his declaration of love for her, was that how love worked?

“I love you,” Matthew repeated and grabbed Emily by the arm pulling her in for a kiss.

“What are you doing?” Emily asked pushing him off but Matthew felt irritated by it. Was she rejecting him? No one rejected him. He grabbed her again and forcefully tried to kiss her.

“Let go of her.” Emily heard when Matthew had pinned her to the wall. Emily and Matthew turned around to stare at where the voice came from.

“Leonard,” Emily called out she had remembered his name when Mark had spoken to him but what was he doing here.

“SCRAM!” Matthew yelled at Leonard still not letting go of Emily.

Leonard stared at him with both hands in his pocket, after his discuss with Emily he had trailed her just to know what she was up to. She seemed out of place during their discussion and he wondered if it had anything to do with Bella.

“Jack,” Leonard called out as the man in black beside him which Emily and Matthew didn’t notice walked up to Matthew, he pulled him by the hair and pushed him off.

“Let me go,” Matthew shouted trying to push off Jack but he wasn’t strong enough.

“Thank you,” Emily appreciated although she had plans to kick Matthew in the balls but she was grateful that Leonard was here, just in case her plans back fired. She watched Jack pull Matthew into their car.

“Go inside,” Leonard commanded he didn’t want her to see Matthew by the time he came out of the car.

Emily nodded at him understanding the situation and went inside.
