Chapter 20

Chloe couldn't believe this nonsense, who the hell did he think he was to have spoken to her in such a disrespectful manner, she hissed at the thought that she had forgotten herself and not given him a tight slap. How dare he? It wasn't that she couldn't afford her own meal, she just wasn't prepared for today.

Her plans had been to spend it with Leonard not to be disrespected like this, she had even had to wait so long to avoid washing the restaurant dishes so Cam could come out and pay.

When it was already getting dark, she decided that if he didn't come outside she would be forced to make a run for it as she wasn't planning to washing any goddamn dishes.

When Cam left Chloe, he called Leonard immediately and placed it on loud speaker.

"Where the hell did you take my sister to?" He heard Leonard's voice after the second beep.

"Good afternoon to you too," Cam smiled turning into another street. "You should know she is in safe hands."

Cam wasn't surprised that Leonard was the first to know that Bella was away from the house, he could never understand how Leonard was able to always keep tabs on every single one of them in the family. Even as he drove now he knew Leonard had an idea of his location and his dealings, at the earlier stage Cam had found it to be annoying and an invasion to his privacy but as time went on he realized it was also important for security reasons.

"You call your hands safe after what you nearly did to her last summer," Leonard barked on the phone and only got a chuckle from Cam.

It was crazy how Leonard could be this protective of Bella and yet claim he wasn't even Bella knew that behind her brothers blank and non chalant expressions he loved her dearly and did not take her for granted as well as their mother.

Cam couldn't say about their father but he also loved Bella a lot, it was this same love that made him kiss Bella the last summer when he had taken her to a club and gotten drunk on some new wine he wanted to try out.

He had thought the kiss was mutual but only got a resounding slap from Bella and a long warning speech from Leonard to stay away from his sister.

He didn't really care much about Leonard's speech rather he was worried about Bella and the fact that she didn't see him that way but when she had kissed him back, he had also lost his mind.

He had started to question his true intentions towards her, of all the women he had chosen to kiss her. He didn't know if Bella had also been drunk as she had forgave him instantly the next day or rather she didn't bring up the discussion and even till now they never talked about it.

Cam had forgotten about it till just now that Leonard decided to refresh his memory. He wondered if he should bring it up with Bella now that she was back home.

"The manager wants you to conclude on his proposal, he is facing a lot of issues without you giving him a go ahead."

"He knows what he is supposed to do, should I be teaching you your job."

"Are we talking about the manager or the fact that am going to pick Bella?"

"You do well to drop her home to avoid me damaging one of your hands."

"You do know if she is in love with me, I will need my hands." Cam laughed turning into the Klar's company as he parked the car, he could see Bella and Emily walking towards his car, it seemed they were waiting for him.

Much better, the last thing he wanted was to keep waiting for them to arrive.

"I will call you later, except you want to say hi to your lovely sist...." Cam trailed off as the call disconnected. He watched Bella open the front seat and hopped in, while Emily lean to her level.

"Hi," he heard her greet him. He had wondered how her voice would sound like and it sounded just right.

"Hello," he replied looking at her with a smile on his face, definitely nothing like Chloe she seem calmer.

"So when will I be seeing you again?" Emily asked Bella as they both held there hands if Cam didn't know better he would have confused them for lovers.

"As soon as I get out of rehab."

"Hop in, let me drop you off at home," Cam offered.

Emily would have taken the offer to spend more time with Bella but she still had some work to do and Leonard had offered to come pick her after work. She didn't have his number, so it was best she waited for him and it wasn't advisable that he meant Bella here, knowing fully well that Bella feared Leonard.

"It's alright, I still have some paperwork to round up."

"I will talk to Mark to let you off."

"You know Mark?"

"Bella's crush," Cam teased and Emily finally understood the tension between Bella and Mark.

"What nonsense?" Bella snapped.

While they were busy working at her office, Mark had come around as usual to check on what she had been able to achieve so far.

He was shocked to see Bella in her office and Emily had found that annoying look on his face when a client got on his nerves, at that point she thought it was a client but now she realized it was because of Bella. She wondered what happened between them, she decided not to ask till the next time they saw each other.
