10. Dinner Celebration
*Jade’s POV*
Levi is just standing there grinning at me. Due to my shock, I did not notice that he was holding a stuffed animal. I was a brown wolf and it had a graduation cap on it. It also had a chain that said class of 2021. Levi makes his way over to me and hugs me tightly with his arms around my waist. I return his hug.
I feel his hard muscular body press against mine and I like the feeling of it. He pulls away from me after a while and says, “Congratulations beautiful, here I got this for you.” He holds out the stuffed animal for me. I grab it from him and take a look at it. I give him a big smile. “Thank you, Levi. It is so cute.” I say while hugging the little wolf.
He then brings his face near me and his lips are right next to my ear. He then whispers, “I can't stop thinking about how your lips felt against mine. You have no idea how much trouble I am having to control myself right now.” I feel his breath hitting my ear and it sends a shiver down my spine. I blush, then remember where we are. I look around us to see if anyone in my family heard that. But when I look around, they are all walking to their cars.
They really left us alone? I start wondering how they got Liam and my dad to leave us alone. I look back at Levi and ask, “Are you not afraid of anyone hearing what you just said? Liam will kick your ass if he finds out.” He smirks at me and says, “Your brother will not be an issue.” I chuckle at what he just said. I then get an idea. “If you are so sure about that, then why don’t you come to dinner with us and prove it.”, I say in a challenging tone. He says, “That sounds great. We should get going then it seems that your parents are waiting.” I look around and only see my family’s vehicle.
Maybe everyone else already started to head to the restaurant. I ask, “Did you come with someone or did you bring your car?” He answers, “I brought my car.” He then pouts and continues, “You’re not going to make me go all by myself, are you?” I shrug my shoulders and say, “I probably will, especially after that whole whispering in the ear thing. Just going to let you know that was kind of weird dude.”
He gives me a pleading look and tries to make his best puppy dog eyes. I then say, “Okay, stop looking at me like that, let me just tell my parents that I will go with you.” He immediately gives me a wide grin showing all his teeth and nods.
I go to my parents who are waiting in a parked vehicle. I notice that Liam and Ava are not with them anymore. They probably left with Julian; I think to myself. “Mom, Dad, I will ride with Levi to the restaurant. I will meet you there.”
My mom grins widely at me, while my father is busy glaring and Levi at a distance. My mom answers right away, “Okay honey, we will meet over there.” My father just grunts in response. I ask, “Is everything okay dad?” He responds sarcastically, “Everything is just peachy.” He suddenly yells out to Levi, “Hey boy, keep your hands to yourself, unless you want to lose a hand or maybe even both.”
I face palm at what he just said. I look over to where Levi is and mouth a “sorry” to him. He just gives me one of his dazzling smiles. Have I mentioned how much of a sucker I am for good smiles. Levi has one of the nicest smiles I have seen
Mom smacks the back of my father’s head and says, “Henry you better shut up. You are going to scare the poor boy away.” Before this goes any further, I say, “We should get going the others left before us and shouldn’t keep them waiting long.”
They both nod in response and I start making my way back to where Levi is standing. He grabs my hand and entwines his fingers with mine and I decide to let him. We then go towards his car; He has one of those newer model mustangs and he looks huge in comparison to the car. He walks me to the passenger side and opened the door for me. He tries to imitate a British accent and says “Go right ahead, my lady.” I really like this playful side of his and decide to play along with him. “Why, thank you good sir.” We both laugh at out antics. He waits for me to be seated in the vehicle then shuts the door.
He makes his way over to the driver side. When he is settled in the car, he turns it on. He reaches for my hand and notice that the vehicle hasn’t started to move. I turn to look at him and notice his playfulness is gone. His face Is serious and I think I already know where this is going.
I know we have to talk about our kiss but right now I just want to enjoy the night with my loved ones. Before he starts speaking, I say “Levi, I know we need to talk about it, but can we just not do this right now. I promise we will talk after dinner. We have to get going. So, let's just enjoy ourselves for now.” He nods and starts driving to the restaurant.
The restaurant we decided to go to was a fancy and popular restaurant in our area. The only reason it was not hard for us to get a private room here is because the Alpha owns it. When we arrive, I let the hostess know the name on our reservation. She leads us to the private room where everyone Is at. I felt Levi put his hand in the small of my back while following the hostess.
When we get there, everyone is already seated. I see two empty spots next to Liam. We start walking to where Liam is seated to take our seats. Levi pulls out the chair for me and helps me to my seat. I say “Such a gentleman.” He smirks and says, “Only for you.” Then he kisses my cheek.
I blush because I know everyone heard him and saw what he did. All the women in the room say, “Aww” in unison. I notice Julian looks annoyed. My father and Alpha Owen are glaring at Levi, but Levi doesn’t seem to mind. I also decide to ignore them. What seemed to surprise me the most was to see Liam smirking. I narrow my eyes at him not believing what I am seeing.
I turn to Levi and whisper, “Why is he smirking like that? I think this is scaring me more than his scary older brother persona.” Levi looks over to Liam to see what I was referring to. He then leans closer to me and says in a hushed tone, “I think I know why he might be acting like that; we could also talk about that after dinner.” I just nod, completely confused with my brother’s behavior.
After a few minutes everyone started to settle in and the rest of the dinner went great. Throughout the dinner Mia kept grinning and looking between Levi and I. I swear this girl is more excited than I am with everything that is going on. I even caught her stealing glances at Liam, who didn’t seem to notice.
We all joked around and had a bit of back-and-forth bantering. My father like always making his bad dad jokes, but we don’t let him know bad they really are. We were all having a good time and I have missed spending time like this with my family. At the end of the dinner, we all huddled up at one end of the private room to take a picture. We all said our goodbyes after that.
As I had promised, I left with Levi to have our ‘talk’. We drove back to my home. The drive there was silent. When Levi parked outside of my house the silent moment was extended for a few more minutes. I speak up not being able to handle the silence anymore. “Let's go for a walk.” Levi nods in response.
We get out of the car and start making out way to a clearing in our pack lands that has a small pond. There is still silence on our walk there, but it is a comfortable silence. When we arrive at the pond, I take in my surroundings. This has always been one of my favorite spots in our pack grounds. The greenery is beautiful and there are so many flowers around. I like to come here and relax, even the air here feels peaceful.
I take a seat in the grass. I pat the spot next to me signaling Levi to sit there. Levi sits next to me and reaches for my hand. I stare at our entwined fingers. He starts speaking, “I guess, it is not a secret that I like you.” I then meet his gaze and say, “Then, I guess it's not a secret that I reciprocate those feelings.” He smiles at me and says, “I am happy to hear that.”
His expression then changes to a serious one, as if he just realized something and asks, “Why do I have the feeling that you were going to say ‘but’ after what you just said.”
