20. It Was Bound To Happen

*Third person POV*

Days have gone by and Jade was having a harder time than she thought she would. All the determination she felt after the talk with Liam vanished. She was starting to turn into someone she did not recognize.

Jade was starting to doubt herself, losing her self-confidence. She spent the past days locked in her room, even skipping training. She had decided long ago that she will decline the offer to become head warrior.

Levi has been with her every day, trying to lift her spirits. At the beginning it seemed like nothing was helping her get out of the slump she was in. Slowly but surely the pain became more bearable.

There were nights when she had chest pains and Esmeralda told her that pain was caused when a mate is mating with someone else. This only made her start to resent Julian.

Why did she have to be the one going through all that pain while he continued living his life as if nothing happened. It was upon this thought that Jade finally decided that enough was enough. If he was able to move on like nothing ever happened then she would do the same.

Julian was having a hard time, although he was looking good on the outside, he felt like if he was slowly dying on the inside. Levi’s words kept repeating in his head.

He had no claim over her anymore. How will he cope when she actually starts dating someone? The thoughts of her being with another male drove him crazy.

He had even increased his nightly visits with Ava to see if that helped. He had always been sexually satisfied with Ava, but lately thoughts of how sex would feel with Jade took over. Not that his wolf was making it any easier for him.

He even stated to picture Jade was the one mating with him when he was with Ava. Hell, he was even questioning if he would ever be able to get over her.

Liam was still trying to figure out who Jade’s mate was, but was having no luck. He even began sweet talking to Mia to get her to spill the beans. Although, Mia was enjoying his attention, she was not stupid to not see what he was doing.

*Jade’s POV*

It has been 4 days since that eventful night and I have had enough. I really felt that I was beginning to lose myself. My confidence took a pit fall and I had wrapped myself in self-pity.

Levi and Mia have been a great help. Especially Levi, I really don’t know how things would've been without him by my side.

I decided that today was the day I would begin taking the steps needed for me to move on. I got ready, had my breakfast, and went searching for Emilio. Yes, I had decided to take his offer to join the Royal Army.

This will also give me the distraction I need and make me train harder to become a better warrior. I knew I needed to get out of here if I really wanted to move on.

I found Emilio right away. He smiled when he saw me and said, “Hello, princess.” I smiled back, “Hey Emilio. Just the man I was looking for.”

He chuckled, “And to what do I owe the pleasure?” I told him, “I was actually going to tell you that I decided to join the Royal Army.” I noticed this made him really happy.

He asked, “Really, are you completely sure? Because when I start this process there is no going back.” I chuckle, “Emilio, when have I backed out of anything?”

He just responds, “I just wanted to make sure, this is something that will be very good for you. But I can't help but ask, what made you decide so soon? I thought it was going to take you longer to make a decision.”

I just say, “I am following your advice and putting myself first for once.” He smiled, “Well I am glad. We will begin training hard as soon as possible. I will also speak to the general and let you know when I hear back from him.”

I nod my head and we part ways. When I turn around, I see the last person I wanted to bump into, Julian. He is glaring at me and I decide to walk past him to avoid any contact with him.

I am suddenly pulled by my wrist and dragged to the back of one of the houses. “You are leaving the pack.”, he says more like a statement than a question.

“Let go of me why would it even matter to you. It’s not like you actually care.” He scoffs, “It matters especially when my head warrior is the one leaving. I thought you were better than this. I never thought you would let a personal issue affect you professionally.”

I let out a bitter laugh, “Wow, you think so highly of yourself. You assume this is because of what happened with you, when it doesn’t. Not that I owe you an explanation, anyway.” He growls and lowers his face to mine and our noses are touching.

“You are lying, you are running away like a coward. Do you really believe you will be able to leave this pack, leave me that easily?” He suddenly crashed his lips against mine, his action is making me feel nothing but repulsion.

I pushed him off me with all my strength, I then slapped him as hard as I could. “Don’t ever do that again, it's disgusting. You were having sex with my sister a few hours ago and now you kiss me.” I look at him with pure disgust.

I see a look of hurt flash though his eyes, then it gets replaced by anger. I hear footsteps of someone approaching. I then hear Liam ask, “Is everything okay over here?”

I answer, “Yes brother, I was just telling Julian that, sadly I won’t be able to take the head warrior position, because I plan on joining the Royal Army.”

Liam looked surprised for a moment, “Really sis, and when were you planning on telling me?” I roll my eyes and say, “I was going to soon, but I just spoke to Emilio about it. He is the one going to help me enlist.”

Liam smiles at me, “I am so happy for you. I know this is something you always wanted.” I smile and before I am able to say anything, I hear Julian huff. “I will see you guys around.” He then walks away.

I see Liam stare at Julian's retreating figure, then looks back at me with a questioning look on his face but I just shrug my shoulders and fake confusion.

I do not want Liam to discover that Julian is my true mate.

*Julian’s POV*

She is leaving, is it really that easy for her to just walk away from me? I know I am the one that rejected her but fuck, why does she have to leave? Liam even confirmed this is something she always wanted.

I hear Max my wolf, ‘This is your fault, we will lose her forever because of what you did.’ I just ignore him.

I can't bear the thought of her leaving. I make my way to my father's office to see if I can stop this. I knock twice at his door before walking in. “Father, I need to talk to you about something that is going on.”

He looks up at me and asks, “What's the matter son? ”

I sigh, “Father, I am afraid I am going to lose my head warrior. She is thinking of joining the Royal Army and Emilio is helping her. I need help stopping him from doing so, we will lose our best warrior if we don’t do anything.”

My father just smiles, “So, Jade finally decided to join the Royal Army? Son we cannot stop this from happening. I know it doesn’t make any sense to you now, but she belongs there. It was bound to happen at some point.”

I say, “But father.” He interrupts me, “Enough Julian. Emilio isn't even under my orders; he has been here for years on behalf of the Royals, drop whatever it is you are planning.”

I storm out of his office.

What the hell did he mean by saying ‘she belongs there’ and ‘it was bound to happen’? Shouldn’t she belong here in this pack since she is my true mate? I punch the wall as soon as I make it to my room, making a large hole on the wall.

Why is everything going to shit? Everything was going perfectly until I discovered that she was my true mate.

I need to find a way to make her stay even if its by force.
