19. It Was For The Best

*Jade’s POV *

Levi wanted me to elaborate more one what I meant, but I told him I just wanted to sleep for now. That was a complete lie because I was not able to fall asleep. When I felt that Levi was already sleeping, I couldn’t stop my mind from wondering.

I was not sure if I could stay in this pack. Now more than ever being here made me feel so out of place. The feeling of a missing piece grew with this event and I don’t even think my family will be a strong enough reason for me to stay.

I turned to look at the clock and it was already 4:00 AM. I decided to close my eyes to see if sleep will take over and it finally did.

I am abruptly awoken by loud banging at the front door. I hear Levi groan, “What the fuck, who would even be at the door this early on a Sunday?” I sit up on the edge of the bed and when I hear who is at the door I groan.

“Levi, I know I was cool with you dating my sister but fuck man, couldn’t you wait longer to sleep with her? Jade, I know you are in there, open the door!” I rub my face in frustration knowing this probably won't end well.

I look over to Levi and give him an apologetic look. I tell him, “Let me open the door, at least I know he won't beat the crap out of me.” Levi just chuckled while I walk out, but I notice that he is right behind me. Then suddenly goes back to the room.

I open the door only to see a really pissed of Liam. He glares at me and says, “You are in big trouble young lady. Did you really think I wouldn’t notice you didn’t sleep at home? Where is that asshole? I will put him in his place!”

Liam storms in and I go running after him. “Liam, I promise nothing happened, we just had a sleep over here at Levi’s place.” Okay, that sounded suspicious as fuck. I am a terrible at lying especially to Liam, but anything thing is better than him actually finding out what happened last night.

Liam narrows his eyes at me and says, “Really Jade, is that what they are calling it now?” I let out a sigh and Levi comes strolling in putting on a shirt.

Liam suddenly pins Levi on the wall and Levi isn't even fighting back. “I am going to fuck you up Levi!” Levi pushed Liam off him and said, “Man, can we just talk like civilized people? There really is no need for all of this.”

Liam turns red in anger and yells, “Oh, but I do think it's necessary after you fucked my little sister.” Levi just stares at him in confusion. I groan and decide to put a stop to this myself.

I sneak up behind him and when I am close enough to him, I put him in a choke hold. Liam says, “Jade, let go of me now. Not even you will be able to protect your lover boy from me.”

I throw him on the floor on his stomach and I immediately place my knees on his back bearing all my weight on to him. I reach for his hands and put them behind him on his back. At this point Liam is yelling and kicking his legs all over the place.

I tell him in a calm voice, “You can keep doing that all want but you know I could do this all day if I have to.” He yells back, “No Jade, I am going to teach that fucker a lesson by beating the shit out of him!”

I shift my body weight in a way that my knees would cause him pain. “Ouch, Jade that fucking hurts. Get the hell off me.”

I ask him, “Will you calm the fuck down? You know it won't be hard for me to get you back into that position if you try anything. I hear him take in a deep breath before nodding his head.

I get off his back and he immediately stands up. I notice he takes a step towards Levi then looks at me. I just raise an eyebrow at him, questioning if he is challenging me. He immediately freezes.

Levi is just looking between Liam and I, then suddenly smirks. “Well, that was entertaining.” Liam growls at Levi’s comment. Levi just shakes his head and makes his way to sit on a couch in the living room. Liam and I follow, sitting on a couch across from Levi.

Levi is the one to begin speaking, "Liam, I hope that you know that as my best friend, I would never lie to you. Believe me when I say, nothing happened between Jade and I last night.”

I take Liam’s hand and say, “Brother, please believe us, nothing happened. You know me, probably better than anyone else and you know I would not lie to you about something like this.”

Liam sighs, “I guess I might have over reacted. It's just that Julian made it seem like something happened between you and Levi.”

This just made me angry. Julian was the one who told Liam I was here with Levi, what a sneaky wolf. Just a few hours ago I believed hearing his name would bring me nothing but heart break. But now I feel nothing but anger towards him.

I just don’t understand if he is set on being with Ava, to the point where he rejected our bond, why can he just leave me alone and let me move on?

I suddenly hear Liam ask, “Why did you stay here, anyway?” I look over to Levi, wanting to dodge the question. I am afraid of Liam’s reaction if he finds out the truth.

“I... umm... Liam something happened last night, nothing happened that hurt me physically, but I just couldn’t be home. Levi offered his help and I accepted. ”

Liam furrows his eyebrows, “Can’t you just tell me what happened? Jade, I think I am going to worry more if you leave me in the dark like this.” I think about it for a minute. Maybe I can tell him what happened and just not say his name.

“Okay, I will tell you what happened, but I need you to promise that you will not ask any questions and that you won’t freak out and cause a scene.”

He looks unconvinced and says, “Jade, tell me what the hell is going on now, or so help me goddess, I will make Levi tell me by beating the shit out of him.”

I sigh, “No Liam, promise me or I won’t tell you. We all know that I will beat the shit out of you first before you even get to Levi.”

Liam lets out a sigh in defeat, “Fine, I promise.”

I rub my face and begin, “I found my mate last night.” Liam’s eyes go wide and asks, “Who is it? Wait is it Levi, is that why you stayed here?” I just shake my head in denial and say, “No questions, remember.”

I give him a pointed look and continue, “I will not say who he is but, let's just say he was already in a committed relationship and he rejected me.” I said the last part in a whisper but I know he heard me.

“Wait what, who would be stupid enough to reject you? Even if he was in a commited relatioship, I can't wrap my head around it.”

I respond, “I am actually starting to believe it was for the best, I don’t think it would have worked out.” I look directly at him and say, "Liam, I think it will be better if no one else knows. I might tell Mia, but other than that I don't want anyone else to find out. Not even mom, dad, or Ava should know."

Liam reluctantly nods and asks, "So, how will that even work. Are going to be able to live in the same pack with your mate and his chosen? I don't want to see you get hurt any more than you already are."

I say, "Whatever happens, will happen. I think I might have an idea of what next step is, I just need a little more time to process everything that has happened."

I see that Levi is giving me a questioning look, but I just shrug my shoulders. I will tell him when I am ready. I just need to be one-hunded percent sure that this will be the right move for me.

I really should start to think about what I want, rather than doing what others expect from me.
