18. This Changes Everything

*Jade’s POV*

I don’t know how long I have been waiting for Levi. My mind just keeps going back to what happened with him. I don’t even think I can say his name anymore. How will I move on from this?

I knew this could happen but seeing it actually play out, hurts. I hear Esme ‘Jade, we will over this. I honestly believe that the Moon Goddess has done this for a reason.’ I ask her, ‘How are you okay with this? He was our mate!’

She sighs, ‘Human, I knew something was off the moment I felt his touch. The way the sparks felt was just off. You feel heartbroken because you truly believe he is our mate. There is a bond connecting us but it is not a true mate bond.’

I think about what she said and remember feeling disappointed when the sparks where not as intense as I imagined. But why would the Moon Goddess mess with bond in that way?

I suddenly hear the door open and see Levi walk in with my clothes in his hands. “Here you go, I was thinking that maybe you could stay here if you still don’t want to go back home. I have a few guest bedrooms.”

I ask, “Actually, I was going to ask, if I could sleep with you?” I cringe as soon as the words left my mouth and quickly try to clear up what I meant. “I... I did not mean in that way.” I blush and he is just giving me an amused look.

I then tell him, “I just don’t think I will be able to be alone right now.” My voice cracks at the end and Levi gives me a knowing look. He walks over to me, takes me in to a warm embrace and says, “Jade remember what I told you the knight I was in your bedroom. I stand by it and I will be here for you no matter what. ”

We look in to each other's eyes and I can feel the honesty behind his words. My eyes fill up with tears and I say, “Thank you Levi, I can't express how grateful I feel to have you with me right now.” He smiles and says, “Don't thank me, I’m the one going to spend the night with a beautiful Lady.”

He winks and kisses my forehead. I chuckle while he starts to lead me to the bedroom. We arrive to a bedroom filled with different shades of blue, you can immediately tell it is a male’s bedroom.

He points to a door and says, “That is the bathroom, you can go and freshen up if you want.” I nod my head making my way to the bathroom. I shut the door and set my clothes on the counter where the sink is.

I look up only to see my reflection in the mirror. I don’t even recognize myself; my mascara is smeared all over my face, my red lipstick is all over the place. My eyelids are all red and puffy. Although what mostly caught my attention were my eyes. They looked lifeless and dull.

I then did something I have not done before, I started to criticize myself in a negative light. Did my mate not want me because I was not good enough? Was I not pretty or graceful enough? Did Ava out do me in every aspect?

Esme got angry with my thoughts, ‘No seas tonta! (Don’t be stupid) the one with issues is him. If he can't treasure you, he is the one that does not deserve you.’ I sigh, I really shouldn’t be doing this to myself.

I make my way to the shower and adjust the water as hot as my skin can tolerate it. I immediately grab a bar of soap I see and scrub my skin harshly with my hands. I just want to get rid of his scent, I want there to be no remanence of him on my body. I just want to forget this ever happened.

I leave my hair for last, while rinsing I just stand there thinking about how this whole day turned out. How happy and free I felt during my first shift and then the bliss I first fell when I sensed my mate. Then, hot it all came crashing down.

I turn off the water when I feel my skin starts to get all wrinkly. I quickly start to dry myself and get dressed into my clothes. Thank goddess I was brought t-shirt and sweatpants. I wrap my hair in the towel and grab a new toothbrush I saw near the towels.

I get put the toothpaste on it and start brushing my teeth, I brush hard wanting to erase his kisses. When I finish, I pat my mouth dry. I come out and notice Levi has changed into some black sweats, while his upper body is completely bare.

He was looking at his phone while sitting at the edge of the bed. He immediately looked up when he heard I was coming out. “Seems like the shower helped a little.” I nodded and sat next to him on the bed.

He then said, “Let me grab a brush for you.” He quickly walked into the bathroom and came out with the brush in his hands. I started to reach for the towel on my head but Levy stopped me. “Let me.” he says waiting for my approval.

I nod, and he releases my hair from the towel. He goes to hang the towel at one of the doors. He then sits behind me placing me between his legs. Levi starts to brush my hair gently from the ends working his way up.

When he finished, he places the brush on the nightstand. He then kisses my temple and says, “Come on angel, let's get some sleep.”

I nod my head and Levi guides me to lay on the bed. I lay there just looking at the ceiling. I felt the bed dip when Levi went to lay down next to me. I could feel his gaze on me, but I try my best to not look at him.

He suddenly asks, “What is going on in that pretty head of yours?” I turn my body so I am facing him and say, I never imagined it was going to be someone that close to me.” I chuckle, “Can you believe it? My mate is actually going to be my brother-in-law.”

He cups my face and says, “You will get through this, you are strong and I know that you are the only one strong enough to get through something like this.” I sigh, “I just wish things were different.”

Levi tells me, “Jade, things don’t have to change because of this, you don’t have to change because of him.”

I just say, “Don't you see it, Levi? This changes everything.”

*Author's note: Hello everyone, I first of all want to apologize for the lack of uploads the last couple of weeks. One of my kids got really sick and I did not have the headspace to upload new chapters with all that was going on, eventhough I have some already written. With school being back in full swing for the kiddos I will have more time to edit and upload chapters I have already written and make new ones. My story has also gotten signed on this platform as well and I am super stoked!!!!!! Thank you all for the suport and appreciate the patience. Also, what did you all think on getting a POV other that Jade's? Would you guys like to see more of that in the future? Please let me know for future reference.*
