Chapter 305

**Sara**

"That's what I have you saved as. Because you light up every room you walk into." His voice was soft, intimate. "And because you somehow managed to break through all my clouds."
"Oh." I felt warmth spread across my cheeks. "That's... that's actually really sweet."
"Don't sound so surprised." He leaned closer to the camera. "Though if you tell anyone I'm capable of being sweet, I'll deny everything."
"Your secret's safe with me, Professor." I bit my lip, watching his eyes darken at the title. "But I might need some incentive to keep quiet."
"What kind of incentive did you have in mind?"
I traced my finger along the neckline of the sweater. "I was thinking breakfast in bed for a week when you get back."
"That's all?" His eyebrows shot up. "I was expecting something more challenging."
"Oh, I'm not done. I want the full works - pancakes, fresh coffee, maybe some fruit arranged in cute shapes."
"Cute shapes?" He ran a hand through his already messy hair. "I draw the line at food art."
"Fine, no shapes. But I still want pancakes. And bacon. Lots of bacon."
"Breakfast in bed can be arranged." His lips curved into that dangerous smile. "What do you have me saved as in your contacts?"
Heat crept up my neck. "No way. You'll laugh."
"Now I have to know." He leaned closer to the camera. "Come on, Sara. Fair's fair."
"Promise you won't make fun of me?"
"I make no such promises."
"Then I won't tell you." I stuck my tongue out at the screen.
"That's not fair." Tom's eyes narrowed playfully. "What would your teachers and professors think of such behavior?"
"Well, considering you're a professor..." I trailed off with a smirk. "What do you think of me?"
"I think you're a very bad student." His voice dropped lower. "And don't change the subject. Tell me what my number is saved as."
I squirmed under his intense gaze, even through the screen. "Fine. But remember, you asked for this."
"I'm waiting." His voice held that commanding tone that always made my stomach flip.
"Promise you won't use it against me?"
"Sara." The way he said my name sent shivers down my spine.
"Okay, okay." I buried my face in my hands, peeking through my fingers. "It's 'My Heart Professor.'"
Silence stretched between us. I dropped my hands to see Tom's expression frozen on the screen, his eyes wide.
"Hello? Did the connection freeze?" I waved at the camera. "Tom?"
A slow smile spread across his face. "Say that again."
"No way! You heard me the first time."
"I want to hear it again." His voice dropped to that dangerous octave that made my knees weak. "Please?"
"You're impossible." I rolled my eyes but couldn't stop smiling. "My Heart Professor. Are you happy now?"
"Very." His grin turned wicked. "So I own your heart, do I?"
"I didn't say that!" Heat flooded my cheeks. "It's just... you know... a silly contact name."
"Mhm." He leaned back against his headboard, looking entirely too pleased with himself. "A silly contact name that implies ownership."
"That's not- I mean- You're twisting my words!"
"Am I?" His eyes sparkled with mischief. "Because it sounds like someone's been harboring quite romantic notions about their professor."
"You're not my professor anymore!" I grabbed a throw pillow and hugged it to my chest. "And stop looking so smug."
"I can't help it. I just found out I own real estate in your heart."
"Oh my god." I groaned into the pillow. "I'm changing it to 'Annoying Professor' right now."
"No, you won't." His confidence was infuriating. "You like having me as your heart professor too much."
"I hate that you're right." I peeked over the pillow at him. "You're never going to let me live this down, are you?"
"Never." He winked. "In fact, I might need to update your contact name to reflect this new development."
"Don't you dare!"
"What's wrong with 'My Heart Student'?"
"Everything! That's so cheesy!" But I couldn't stop the giggle that escaped. "Besides, I graduated. So technically, I'm not your student anymore."
"Once my student, always my student." His voice turned husky. "Especially when you've been such a bad one."
"Tom!" I squeaked, clutching the pillow tighter.
"What? I'm just stating facts." His innocent expression didn't match his tone. "Now, about that discipline we discussed earlier..."
"And that's my cue to hang up!" I reached for the end call button.
"Don't you dare-"
I hit the button, cutting off his protest with a laugh. My phone immediately lit up with a message.
Tom: That was very naughty of you.
Me: What are you going to do about it? You're literally on the other side of the world.
Tom: For now. But I'll be back soon enough.
Me: Is that a threat or a promise?
Tom: Both. Now be a good student and call me back.
Me: Make me, Professor.
Tom: Sara...
Me: Yes, My Heart Professor?
Tom: You're in so much trouble when I get back.
I grinned at my phone, my heart racing with anticipation.
Me: Looking forward to it.
My phone lit up with another video call. I accepted it, seeing Tom's face fill my screen again.
"Miss me already?" I smirked.
"Always." He adjusted his position, the camera angle shifting. "But maybe I just wanted to see that smile again."
"Aren't you supposed to be busy? What about all those important meetings?"
"It's Sunday here. The real work starts tomorrow." He ran his fingers through his hair. "Just need to meet some people today."
"People?" I raised an eyebrow. "What kind of people?"
"Just people. Business contacts." His lips curved into a knowing smile. "Why? Worried about something?"
"No! I'm not worried." I crossed my arms. "I just think it's weird you're being so vague."
"Sara Parker, are you jealous?"
"Of course not! Don't be ridiculous." I hugged the pillow tighter. "I'm just curious."
"Mhmm. Purely professional curiosity, I'm sure."
"Stop looking at me like that!"
"Like what?"
"Like you know something I don't." I narrowed my eyes. "And you still haven't told me who these mysterious people are."
"Some investors. A few corporate executives." His grin widened. "Their very attractive secretaries."
"Tom!"
"What? I'm just being thorough in my description."
"You're being a jerk is what you're being." I stuck my tongue out at him. "And I'm not jealous."
"No? So you won't mind if I tell you about the lovely dinner I have planned with-"
"With who?" I interrupted, then immediately regretted it when I saw his triumphant expression. My heart was racing, and I could feel the heat creeping up my neck despite my best efforts to appear nonchalant.
