CHAPTER 30

“Thank you, sir, I will never forget your mercy,” Mr. Brown said in a flattering tone as he got up from his knees.
They both watched as the man entered his car and left dejectedly. If he had known that the little girl’s background was that formidable, he wouldn’t have played with fire and now he was doomed and he was only to be blamed. It was already too late for regrets.
When Mr. Brown left, Lucian looked at Aurora whose cheek was now red from being slapped. He reached his hand to her palm and caressed her cheek, completely sad that someone had done this to her.
“Are you okay?” he asked worriedly.
“Yes, I am,” Aurora smiled at him. This was nothing compared to what she had went through before.
“Why did you let him slap you when you can take care of yourself?” he was angry at her for allowing someone to take advantage of her when she was capable of protecting herself.
“I wanted to have something on him that way after I beat him, he won't have to plot against me,” she said smiling slyly with her calculative eyes that entranced Lucian deeply.
“You are one cunning little girl,” he said pulling her into his embrace, his eyes filled with so much affection, anyone who would see this scene will just melt on the spot.
“I'm one of a kind,” she said agreeing with him shamelessly and brushed her lips against his seductively.
“We are in the middle of the road!” he hissed looking at her with dangerous slits that carried a lot of visible lust and desire.
“I know and I don't care,” she said and kissed him passionately.
He smiled at her move and he hugged her tightly and returned the kiss. It was the first time he was being intimate with her outside. She would be his wife by the next day and there was no need for any fear towards the paparazzi that had been following him lately, that made him think whether one had followed him tonight or not.
He would have to inform Victor to stop anything from coming out or else his wife would be all over the news. He stopped the kiss and looked at her.
“Let's return back to the mansion and we can continue,” he said in a tone that promised more to come kissing her on the forehead and she nodded.
Lucian helped Aurora into the car and he drove back to the mansion. He carried her to the elevator since he didn't have time to take on the stairways. It was going to be a very long night, he promised her; their last night before they officially marry and become husband and wife.
***
Aurora had her eyes closed as the makeup artist applied cosmetics to her face. She was having a hard time covering the mark left by that lunatic the previous day.
“It's done,” the makeup artist said and she opened her eyes.
She looked beautiful and extraordinary. She could tell that the woman was talented and good at her work. That red mark on her cheek was covered as if it wasn’t there from the beginning. She was wearing her mother's altered wedding gown. It was all ivory filled with diamonds and some rubies.
It was beautiful; you could tell she came from a rich family. The dress was accompanied by silver heels, a set of diamonds earrings and necklace. The veil was placed on her head and she wondered why they would bother to make her wear such a long veil. What if she steps on it and fall to the ground?
She was escorted out of the mansion. Lucian was already gone and the cars were waiting for her. She was taken to the grand hall where the wedding was being held. The hall was full; apparently her aunt had made a huge effort and invited so many people. She had told her that she wanted to give her the best wedding on behalf of her mother.
She was seated in her waiting room, her hands sweating. She was afraid now; it was really happening. The door suddenly got opened and there stood Chairman Ladra, her father-in-law. She stood up as he entered and he smiled at her.
“You look beautiful just like your mother,” he said complimenting her sincerely.
“Thank you very much,” she said returning the smile.
“It's time for us to go inside,” he told her and she was confused.
“What do you mean?” she asked confusingly.
“I will walk you down the aisle myself,” he said and she felt tears coming again. This was bad.
He gave her a handkerchief and quickly wiped the tears away before her makeup gets smudged.
“It's a big day for you. Let's not just cry yet daughter,” he said and took her hand.
They left the waiting room and walked towards the hall. It felt good being with someone who appreciated her unlike her crazy adopted father who turned her into a monster. If it was possible, she would dig up his grave and cut him into slices to vent out her anger.
“Let's welcome the bride!” the Master of Ceremonies announced and the door opened.
She could hear the wedding march being played by a famous pianist hired by Joan. Everyone stood on their feet while Simon Ladra her father-in-law walked her down the red carpeted aisle. She smiled as she walked towards her old man who looked stunning in a black tuxedo. He looked like a real gentleman she felt her heart flutter.
In the front stood Jewel's best friends and Jewel her maid of honor who was holding her bouquet of flowers.
Simon handed her over to Lucian who carefully took her hand and the two of them faced the Priest. They began the ceremony. The Priest took twenty minutes reciting bible verses and giving a speech about marriage.
As nice as it was to hear she was getting numb from all the standing. Finally, they took their vows repeating after the Priest. Lucian slipped the golden ring on her finger and she did the same to him as well.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride,” the Priest announced as she smiled at her husband.
