CHAPTER 35

“I don't have much on me but take this and use it for your daily expenses,' Aurora said as she passed the cash to the old woman.
The old woman looked at her with a face full of gratitude. She picked up her box and left the house for the car.
“Are we going to the mall, ma'am?”
“No, take me to this address,” she said and told the driver.
She had someone she had to see and settle everything for once. She arrived at the morgue where an old acquaintance of hers used to work. She was hoping that she could see him and lucky for her he was still there.
“Olivia, it's quite a surprise,” he said happily. She ran into his arms and remained there for a while.
This man was like a father to her and he was always there for her.
“How is Mereen?” he asked her.
“Mereen is fine, I came to see you,” Aurora said happily, excited to see him.
“I'm glad you did. You look different and happy,” the man said faintly with a smile on his face.
“I am indeed. I finally found happiness,” she said with love and affection in her eyes and he looked at her, his emotions hidden deep in his eyes.
“I can tell. When did you get married?” his voice was a bit hoarse when he asked
“Yesterday, I'm here for my honeymoon,” she answered with a smile on her face.
“Congratulations dear. I wish I would be able to see him but that would raise a lot of flags,” he spoke in a regretful tone.
“That's true. Since we are on that topic, I would like to burn a few things of mine,” she told him as she was here for a reason.
“I thought you had nothing left to burn,” he cocked his eyebrows after hearing her.
“I'm afraid there are a few,” she said giving him the box that she desperately wanted to get rid of.
He opened it and gasped when he saw the contents inside.
“Didn't they disappear?” he asked full of shock, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“They did and now they appeared again. Can you burn them please?” she pleaded as she was on her last straw. These things shouldn’t see the light of day otherwise she will be doomed.
“Sure, I will do that now,” Peter agreed as he knew how dangerous it was not for her alone but for him as well.
She followed Peter who burned the box until it was all ashes and it was a huge relief seeing the box burning.
“Now you can be at ease,” he said while smiling at her as he wiped the sweat off his forehead.
“Definitely,” she replied as she felt a huge burden over her shoulders lessening.
“He doesn't know about you, does he?” Peter asked her seeing how nervous and anxious she was.
“I wouldn't dream of saying anything like that ever or let him know that past me. It is better to leave it this way,” Aurora didn’t deny it, the thought of Lucian learning the truth about her, didn’t sit well with her at all.
“You shouldn't do that no matter what!” he said agreeing with her as it was just too risky for everyone and led her to the front office.
She sat down and began to reminisce about the past. A lot of things had happened during the past few months she had been gone and she was glad to hear that some of them haven't changed. She would miss other things but most of them would be better forgotten.

Aurora didn't manage to buy the clothes since she spent a lot of time talking with her friend. She had the driver take her back to the hotel where she found Lucian still with his colleague. She took the time to dip herself in a bubble bath.
While she lay in deep foam and bubbles, she began to reminisce about how it all began.
Aurora was adopted when she was two years old in Mereen and was taken to Queensland by her adoptive parents. They were never the nicest parents from the beginning but she thought that's how it was supposed to be. They would starve her sometimes, beat her and made her do things that weren't moral at all.
The day her father left her in the mountain she thought she would die but she survived. Because she survived the harsh training began. She was taught how to fight and failure to master a technique would court a harsh punishment.
In order to avoid those harsh punishments, she worked hard to become the best. By the age of ten she could topple huge men through martial arts. She was taught how to use knives, how to use a gun and poisons too. At the age of thirteen she was sent to kill one man.
It was messy but she succeeded. If she had refused to do it then they would kill her or punish her. All she ever wanted back then was to be loved by her family. So, after her first kill she killed whoever they wanted her to kill.
They made money through her; she became their personal assassin. She could eat, sleep and go to school at least which was better. The punishments were less as long as she brought money to the table.
Everything was okay until she fell in love. She began to see that what she was doing wasn't good and not normal at all. She wanted to stop and begin a life with her boyfriend. After graduation she became pregnant.
Her boyfriend wanted to take her so that they could be together but her adoptive parents didn't want to lose their source of income. One day they sent people to torture him and to make matters worse, they made her watch the whole thing.
They tortured him and killed him right in front of him.
