CHAPTER 44

“Baby, what's wrong?” he asked not knowing what he had done to make her cry again.
“You know all about it, don't you?” she asked and he knew she knew.
He nodded his head and held her close.
“Then why are you being nice to me when you know what I'm capable of?” she asked.
“Because I love you and I understand you,” he answered her.
“I killed them and that's okay with you?” Aurora asked coldly as she looked at the man she loves so much.
“I might not be okay with it but I know you did it for a reason. I just hope from now on there won't be any deaths. Can you promise me that?” he asked, his hands cupping those wet cheeks as he didn’t want to see her sad.
She nodded her head and placed her small hands-on top of his.
“How long have you known?” she asked, still not believing that she had been found out in the end.
“I became sure today but I have always suspected. What I don't understand is why you killed that granny?” he questioned her as that was still a mystery to him.
“She knew my secret and she had dementia. I was afraid she would spill the beans one day,” she said.
“What secret, Aurora?” Lucian was dying to know more on this.
“It's a long story and if I tell you, can you promise me one thing?”
“Sure, anything,” he would agree to anything even if it goes against his morals.
“Never say a word and promise me you will never leave me. If you do, I don't know what I will do. It's not a threat, trust me but ever since I met you, Jewel and Joan I have been a better person. You became my moral campus and if lose you I don't know what kind of monster I will turn out to be again,” she said tears flowing like a waterfall again. He used his hand to wipe the tears away.
He kissed her slowly on her lips and looked at her.
“Nothing will change the way I feel about you Aurora. I will love the whole of you, your past, your present and your future. I will always be there for you,” he meant every word he said, as being with Aurora and his family was his world.
Aurora began to narrate the whole story and he had never been angry before like the way he was. Even if they didn't want a child, why would they turn a little child into an assassin?
They made someone so young to kill numerous people, they really deserved to die. The life she ever knew was that of killing. While he grew up being taught how to manage a business and become a good father his wife was busy taking other people's lives.
No wonder why she was that fierce and strong. This meant that if she wanted to kill his whole family to revenge for her birth abandoning her then it would have been a piece of cake but that wasn't her anymore.
“I killed granny because she knew what I did and I was afraid she would tell anyone. As for Peter I knew he was up to no good and would do anything to make sure we both suffered so I ended up doing that. I'm sorry I dragged you into my mess but I didn't want anyone dirtying your family's name because of me. If it was just me alone, I would have endured it. I'm sorry,” she confessed crying again.
Lucian embraced his wife for a long time and found himself shedding tears too. If his daughter was caught up in a situation like this, she would never survive at all.
“I'm very sorry that you had to go through all that when you grow up. I know you didn't have a choice since you were young and you did well when you stopped even when it cost you the things you loved the most. From now on, I want you to be happy and live your life with me and Jewel. Let's forget about everything and be happy, okay!” he just wanted her to forget about everything and live a new life.
“Thank you for being like that towards me,” she said lifting her gaze towards his.
“Let this be the last day you ever cry again. Can you promise me that?” Lucian looked at his wife with a smile on his face.
“I promise, I will not cry again and be happy all the time,” she said forcing a smile on her face and he just melted seeing how she was being docile and not making things not only for him but herself.
Such a simple and complicated girl at the same time was really a piece of work. If it was the old him before he met Aurora, he would have made sure she faces the justice she deserved, but ever since he met her back then, her smiles over powered him. And he couldn’t do anything that could harm him.
The fact that she was so brave to hit on him, seduce him and hen retreat as if nothing happened intrigued him. He wanted her, he was obsessed with her; when he found that gun he found his ticket, a way to get her to him and make her his.
He was to blame; he brought her in his life. She might have wanted to do that in the beginning but he was the one who sought her out all the time. He did the opposite of what he was used to with all those other women.
For the first time after Lucy, he chased after a woman and he came to love her. He came to her so much he was now ignoring all her past devious and deadly crimes she committed on behalf of her deceased adoptive parents and even those she committed after that.
