Dating histories

Unable to form any words to the weird request but unarguably sweet words and sweeter intention, she just looked at him.

When she didn’t answer him for a long time, he smiled taking nothing as a yes and declared, “Okay let’s go out”, grabbed her hand and pulled her downstairs with him. He grabbed his shirt on the way and covered her naked body with it.

They stepped out on the beach to the beautiful glow the sunset provided. He was completely naked and the flaccid but still beautiful dick was tempting and extremely distracting. They held hands and walked, with nothing but each other and a beautiful sunset with them on the island.

He asked her to wait for him and ran away without any explanation. Shrugging it off, she sat down on the sand and watched the sun slowly go down.

How beautiful, isn’t it? she thought, That even the end of the day can bring so much beauty and peace to the world. Just goes to show how ends are not always tragic, and not something to be feared; ends are something beautiful and something to be celebrated like the sky celebrates the end of the day with warm colors.

She watched the orange and yellow glow that the sky gave in contrast to the blue water that flowed below the sky. The sky and the ocean, seemed to meet somewhere, sharing their glory and slaying in harmony with each other. Just like the sunset, the waves were beautiful. Their constant movement and continuous ups and down brought peace to whoever spent time to watch. How ironic that peace, that is always unconsciously connected with stagnant things is actually felt with motion. When you are moving, you are peaceful; whether it’s in life, on a bike ride or watching the waves build and crash and letting your mind run free; as long as you are moving, you are peaceful.

She heard the sound of the ocean waves, the distinct birds and the tree breeze; then arrived the soft footsteps. She turned around to find Vansh, still blessedly naked, carrying a brown picnic basket in his hands.

“Food” she jumped up and ran towards him.

“I’m so hungry, I could eat a horse” she declared and snatched the basket from his hands. Why is it that you never realise how hungry you are until someone reminds you of food?

“I don’t know about horses, but I could eat you any day, even with my stomach full” he winked.

“Buhhh! I’m about to have a foodgasm, you can’t tempt me with anything else” she laughed.

"You sure bout that?" he smirked and ignorance gave him his answer.

She found fruits, salads and milkshakes in one compartment and found vada pav, gobi Manchurian and fries in the other.

“This combination is giving me heartache, but food is food so all’s good” she said and took a large bite of vada pav.

“These are best dishes that are prepared here and I always want the best for my girl” he winked and took a bite of vada pav too.

“Do you practice these lines or are you a natural?”

“Oh! I’m a mixture of both”

“Elaborate please” she demanded and took a sip of custard apple milkshake.

“Sometimes these lines enter my head at random times so I practice them in my head, and say them at the right time. Other times, like now, words just flow”

“And girls just swoon” she bumped his shoulder and teased.

“Now, that we are on the topic of girls, how many girls have you had in your life?” she asked, raising her eyebrows.

“Girls in my life, now this is going to take a lot of time; do you think you can manage the stories of me and my many exes? Nice name, I can write a book on that.”

“I have a lot of time. Tell me the story and if and only if I approve, write”

“My dad doesn’t believe in arranged marriages, a surprising feat in India, I know, but he had a successful love marriage and he wants that for his son too. My dad encouraged me to date from the day I turned thirteen, and asked me to talk to him about my crushes and all things girls.”

“Cool dad, huh?”

“Very. When I was thirteen, I had a crush on this girl named Sneha with pigtails and prettiest lips in the class.”

“Wait, before you continue: Whose lips are prettier now? Rate” she asked and made a kissy face.

“There is no comparison”

“Excuse me for being so dumb, but does that mean she is the clear winner or is it the other way around?” she asked, still confused.

“You, my little darling, are the clear winner” he declared and laughed at the now satisfied smile on her face.

“You can continue” she smiled “I won’t interrupt again”

“You are free to interrupt whenever. So I told my dad about her and you won’t believe it but he went and changed the seating position in our school. The next day I go to school, I find out that Sneha is going to sit beside me. You can’t imagine how happy I was that day. We soon became friends, and then I asked her out. She said ‘no’ but I told her if she dates me, I’d give her many gifts; and then she said ‘yes’. We dated for a year, and the next year when we went in different classes, we unofficially broke up”

“You must’ve been sad” she said.

“I thought I would be, but I wasn't, not much really. I had a lot more money in my pocket now and already had a new crush. The same cycle repeated with Pooja, Komal and Priya, they always said 'no' first but later changed their minds. When I passed my school and went to Bangalore for further studies, my dad’s trick didn’t work and I wasn’t brave enough to approach someone after receiving 4 heartbreaks in 3 years.

So, the tactic changed.

My dad set me up with his friends’ daughters, who stayed in Bangalore and who were all very beautiful. And I, a horny teenage boy, dated all of them; I just wanted a partner whoever it might be, didn’t really have a preference. We kissed, smoked and slept together, I even did a threesome with two of them but no one lasted more than 3-4 months. After 2 years of this weird thing I called dating, I came back to Hubballi”

“I decided to stay single for a while and understand what I really wanted; I didn’t want to be a fuckboi, as they call it. Six months later, you arrived and I developed an instant crush on you. The first day I saw you, you were wearing hot yoga pants and a neon t-shirt, looking devastatingly beautiful and smoking hot.

You were smiling and looked confident, also the type who had lines of proposals at her feet and would turn anyone down with just an eye roll, so I didn’t dare approach you. I could’ve asked for my dad’s help, but you know what happened all those times. Besides I didn’t want to force it with you, if we were destined to meet, we will. So I let faith decide what happened with you and look where it bought us - a very unusual meet-up and a beautiful date. Cheers to many more dates.” He said and raised his milkshake for a toast.

“I approve” she said.

“What?” he asked.

“You can write your story, I approve” she chuckled.

“I’ll write when we are a success. What about your dating history?”

“So confident, are we? My dating history? Sorry no files found”

“Very and don’t lie. How can someone who looks as good as have no dates at all?” he asked, bewildered.

“I have my reasons”

“Share them if you will, beautiful?”

“There are many reasons but I have consolidated them into three –
1) I believe dating when you are under the age of eighteen is supporting child marriage. Because if you are smart enough to choose your date and your life partner, why would you say ‘no’ to child marriage, that’s simply hypocrisy.
2) I know my parents would never say ‘yes’ for love marriage, I’m destined to have an arranged marriage so why waste my time and theirs by dating? Now that we are dating, I don’t know if it’ll go as far as marriage but if it did, you are in for a dangerous ride. Remember, my mom is a lawyer, and a successful one at that.
3)I never had a crush on anyone, and no one ever asked me out, except for you that is; suffice to say your earlier prediction was wrong."
