ADDAMS

Mrs.Lucas had already planned of legalizing Whitney as her unique heir, it was obvious she would be the one, though legalizing everything was the wisest thought.

Dad and I were attentive to her phone conversation, I didn't think the lawyer would contact her so early and didn't even imagine there was any need to do any testament.

Whitney was already recognized as the unique child, thus the unique beneficiary, however, Mrs.Lucas took every precaution to preserve her wealth.

Whitney had already given the information about the address to the lawyer, we were now just waiting for him.

She didn't climb the stairs as she wanted to, after the call, she whirled to meet me, her eyes already filled with tears, already wet because of the nostalgia.

She rushed to me, squeezed my shirt, and poured all the tears she could on it, I cuddled her hair she didn't want any words for
consolation, the only thing she wanted was to feel my presence and my energy, feeling there was somebody who shared her pain.

"She had thought of everything, I didn't deserve too much love" she expressed, inhaling air before pushing out a cry.

I didn't understand why it was a surprise, it was obvious she would have done something like that, she was the unique child and therefore the unique inheritor.

Otherwise, I understood she was just overwhelmed and didn't control what was coming out of her mouth, every remembering of Mrs.Lucas was just a way to hurt her.

Dad was behind me, I didn't trust this man, I was sure to have seen his eyes sparkling when she talked with the advocate. He was no more saddened, if he was not my dad, I would have certainly pushed him out of the room.

This guy had something in mind, something deeply dark, though I didn't know what was, nevertheless, I knew I had to protect my Luna from him, and this was the only thing I was sure of.

After an hour of waiting, he was there. We saw him parking his car in the yard.
A well-looking man, with a sympathetic countenance, however, we weren't there for contemplation.

I woke up Whitney, who was tightened in my arms, her head on my chest. It was a unique moment I saw her appeased since this death.
Though, this appeasement was just a short pause I knew it.

"Morning you all" he expressed, with a smile, and a voice that connoted he understood we were not In a situation that could leave any of us the liberty to smile at him back.

"Morning" dad and I responded

"Morning sir" Whitney nonchalantly replied after us, stretching her hand.

"Nice to meet you, Miss. Whitney. And sorry for everything that is happening." He said shaking her hand, with this share of compassion in his glance.

She didn't say something, she just gave him a nod, and Sat, showing him a seat with the hand. We all sat down waiting to hear what he would announce.

Silently, he took the document out of his bag, "It won't be long" he asserted.
"She didn't say too much," added, lifting his glance from the document to stare at us.

We didn't utter something since he took his seat, he cleared his throat with a little cough and was ready to read Whitney's mama's last wills.

"In the possession of all my mind and able to use all the ability it offers, I recognize and declare Whitney Lucas, as my unique heir, I grant her the authority to manage all my business and all the wealth my late husband and I have accumulated during our life." he started reading and sighed for a pause.

Whitney's eyes were showing a brightness caused by the wet tears filled in her eyes.

"I recognize Whitney as my unique successor, whatever will happen, she had the right to do with this fortune whatever she wants to though I know she would always make the right choice."

"This is all about her last words." the lawyer said, closing the document.

"You are the unique inheritor of your mama's wealth, try to manage it with the good sense" he exhorted

Whitney this time succeeded to struggle against the tears about to come down her cheeks.

"Thank you, sir," she succeeded to mumble.

"I am just doing my job, Miss. Lucas" He pronounced with a bow and stood as if he had something hurry waiting at him.

We stood and followed him to the door, and with a handshake, we shared our vows of goodbye.

"Please take my phone number, I am available whenever you will need something, even if I don't think it will be necessary" he explained looking at Whitney, who immediately took her phone and register his contact.

We looked at him entering his car and crossing the door gate.
Mrs.Lucas knew how to surround herself with good and honest people, it was a huge chance Whitney had to be her child.

"You are now more fortunate than I am Miss Whitney Lucas" I heard dad's voice breaking the silence with which we were discussing.
His words were mixed with excitement he was struggling to hide.

"It was obvious she would be the heir, stop talking about it as if you have any profit, I don't understand why you have to be so excited" I sternly blurted, cause of his behavior which started to piss me off.

"I don't understand why you want to get nasty about" he replied.
With a glance challenge, we looked into each other eyes.

"Don't ever try something against her," I asserted.

"I don't understand what you are talking of" he replied, embodying this naive personality.

"Stop all of this" Whitney sternly let those words escape her lips.

"I don't think about this wealth or how wealthy and powerful I could be, I am nothing without my mom, I want her back" She spoke tears on her cheeks.

"My mom is everything I need now, but she will never come back, she can be replaced by any prosperity" she uttered wiping the tears away from her cheeks.

I wrapped my hand around her shoulder and tightened her. Wealth couldn't replace the love her mom bestowed.

Dad was mischievously looking at us, and I felt his aura growing. He was jealous, and I knew I had to protect her from him.
