Chapter 28

Ash left Steve's room as Steve still hasn't regained his consciousness, he was busily thinking of the measures to take and how to ask Steve for his forgiveness and how to get Steve to give him one more chance to make it up to him when his phone rang. He took his phone out of his pocket and saw it was a call from his lawyer so he quickly pick up the call,
* Sir there's a problem at the police station *
his lawyer hurriedly said to him in panic
* What's the problem about? *
Ash asked him in a hurry.
* Sir the Young Madam is causing a fuzz at the station, she demands to see you. The officers are having a hard time doing their jobs because of the Madam's behavior *
his lawyer quickly inform him and he sigh in anger.
" this woman really is despicable ". Ash thought.
* I am deliberately delaying her punishment because I don't want to do anything to her in haste which Steve might not be happy with, I want him to be the one to decide her punishment. But this woman just is in so much hurry to face what I personally wanted to do to her, okay I am coming over to the station right now tell the officers to wait till I get there *
Ash said to his lawyer and hang up, he quickly walk to the parking loft and drove his car out of the hospital. In no time he arrived at the police station and walk in, one of the officers guide him to his step mom in the interrogation room and Ash walk in and took a seat across his step mom before the officer left them and shut the door behind. Ash and his step mom stare holes and daggers at each other in pure hate and disgust. His step mom started to shed crocodile tears which were pissing Ash more than he already was,
* This is so unfair, there isn't any Justice in me being locked up here like a criminal!! My late husband's son whom I consider to be my own is testing me so unfair as if I am a criminal!! *
She started to shed more crocodile tears which enraged Ash even more and he slam his hands on the table in anger.
* Unfair?!! Justice?!! Are you really a mother?!! You're not even worried or bothered about your biological son who is fighting for his life and that of your unborn grandchild?!! You almost had him killed and you're here talking about you being treated unfair, you should be locked up in a cell instead of here!! *
Ash said to her in hurry and she wipe away her tears and started to laugh happily like a mad person.
* oh and here I thought he was good for nothing, but being able to beat your child means he is of value to you now!! You need to compensate me for all the years I spent raising him!!! You should be able to do just that much for your child right *
She said to Ash in a sinister way which made him pick up his chair and slam it on the wall.
* You need to be locked up in an asylum!!! You're not in your right mind!! I can't believe you've this despicable to the very end!! I know Steve wouldn't be happy if I have you locked up in a cell so I'll just have to convince him to agree to put in an asylum for cure, hopefully you can still be treated and nursed back to your right mind!! *
He yelled at her more in anger and started to walk out of the interrogation room, he knock on the door and the officer came and open it for him and he turn back to his step mom,
* So long mother *
he smirk and said to her which made her angry and furious, Ash walk out of the police station and quickly drive back to the hospital. As soon as he walk into the hospital Mavis who was patiently waiting for his return quickly walk to him in excitement,
* Sir, your wife has regained consciousness and has been moved to the ward area *
She quickly said to him and his face soften and beamed with happiness.
* Okay, I'll go see him now *
he said to her and quickly walk to the ward area want went into Steve's room, Steve was laying on his bed wide awake as he felt weak and exhausted. He turn to Ash without showing any emotions to him.
* I am grateful to you for your help this time *
he said to Ash in a very low tone.
* You don't have to thank me *
Ash quickly reply to him and sat on the chair next to Steve's bed.
" If you hadn't come over I think my life would really have ended there, this time around I really thought it was over for me *
Steve said to him in a very sad tone and he worriedly look at Ash,
* Are you hurt? I hope nothing bad was done to you *
Steve worriedly ask him which made Ash happy to hear that Steve still feels worried for his safety.
* You don't need to worry about that, I called the police as soon as Zack informed me about it *
Ash answered to him thinking it would ease his worries, but what he said made Steve more worried and he quickly sat up and lean his back on the bed head and dangerously glare at Ash.
* What do you mean by Zack called to inform you?! *
Steve quickly ask him.
* It wasn't for free, he called and informed me so I pay him up, don't concern yourself about that. What matters most is your well-being and even if I have to give up all of my properties away for your welfare I am willing to do so *
Ash warmly smile at him as he said to Steve.
* What did you do to my mom?! *
Steve ask Ash in a very worried and sad tone which made Ash frown and sigh.
*Are you still worried and want to protect her after she has done this to you? *
he ask Steve in a very serious tone.
* She's still my mom whether I like it or not so I can't have her jailed *
Steve quickly reply to him feeling more sad than he already was..
* No, I didn't have her jailed because I knew you wouldn't agree to that, but I want to have her sent to a psychiatrist to have her brains checked out, your mom isn't in her right mind. she needs to be cured and that's the only way I'm letting her avoid jail *
Ash firmly said to him which made Steve feel relieved but not entirely as his mom will be locked up in an asylum. He stare silently at Ash for a while thinking before he nod his head,
* Okay, that sounds good to me *
Ash started to slowly lean in to him as he held onto Steve's hand,
* You just take very good care of yourself and our child in there, leave everything involving of what happened today to me *
He worriedly said to Steve and slowly started to caresse the back of Steve's hands which made Steve quickly yank his hands from Ash's hold.
* I'm feeling very exhausted .... I want you rest up for a while now *
He said to Ash and Ash felt dejected and sad, but he quickly smile warmly to Steve in high hopes,
* Steve, please give me one more chance to make it up to you *
he said to Steve which earned him a death glare from Steve.
* What did you say? *
Steve ask him in annoyance and anger,
* I am asking and begging you to give me one more chance to make it up to you, Steve *
he quickly reply to Steve which made Steve's anger bust out.
* Ha ... you really are unbelievable, you really do think of me as some property of yours ... huh, you're no different from my mom!! Ash I no longer have chances to give out to you!!! And I no longer want to be with you!! *
Steve tell at him on top of his lungs.
* Did you think it wasn't necessary to tell me about your condition? So it it wasn't for what had happened I wouldn't have known, because you never planned on telling me?! *
Ash was enraged and showed Steve the scan which Eliot had given to him. Steve stare at him with a very sad expression looking really hurt and exhausted,
* Ash, I am begging you. For all the years we've been married now you've been treating me unfairly and hurting me physically and emotionally, now I owe you for saving my life so let's just take it as debts paid. Can I also start living happily like other people? Can't you just let me do that? *
Steve said to him emotionally as he was on the verge of tears and was holding himself from breaking down into tears. Ash stared at him pained and in anger, but he held his anger in as he didn't want to worsen what he had already caused.
* You don't even love me anyway, so you don't have to feel responsible towards me because of the baby. You acting like this ... *
Ash quickly shut him up,
* I understand! *
he said and started to walk to the door,
* Just get some sleep now and don't think about other things, because I am not letting that happen *
he said to Steve and walk out of the room making Steve sigh in annoyance before laying back down on the bed as sleep took over his body.
