Chapter 31

Steve went to his shop the next morning and as usual his shop was busy with old and new customers coming in to make purchases of his rare flowers, later in the day Issac came to visit him and they chat as Steve asks him of advice in ways to deal with Ash's behavior. Issac gives him the advice he can and left him to decide the rest on his own, working hours were finally over and Steve had Rin and the other workers leave early. He was about to close his shop and leave when an unusual customers barge into the shop,
* sorry we are closed *
he said and turn to face them when his eyes widened in horror
* Zack!! What do you want from me?! *
he asked Zack in anger and fear.
* Is that how to greet your savior? if i hadn't call Ash to give him information about your situation that day you'd be dead or gone with the old man *
Zack sneer at him and said in a sinister way
* Guys this is the one I was taking about, he is neither a man nor a woman. Take pictures with him as a souvenir *
Zack and his friends started to laugh at Steve as they make fun of him.
* Zack please go away from here I need to get home now, I know you were already paid for your generosity *
Steve said to him in annoyance and fear, he was getting very scared he didn't know the reason Zack decided to visit him that night.
* Zack if anything happens to me you know Ash will find out and he will find you Wherever you go or hide right, so if you know what's best for you please leave here *
Steve boldly said to him but the fact was he was very scared out if his wits.
* Don't worry I'm not here to hurt or do anything to you, I have already gotten what I want *
he said to Steve and walk out of the shop with his friends towering behind, Steve quickly close the shop and drove home in a hurry and took the elevator to his floor. He was meet with Ash's waiting figure at his door when he got out of the elevator, he quickly walk past Ash pretending he hadn't noticed him as Ash stood silently behind him. Steve unlock his door and quickly walk in he was about to close the door shut when Ash quickly extended his fingers in and the door shut on his fingers which made him yelp out loud making Steve startled and he hurriedly open the door.
* Ash are you okay? *
he shouted as he worriedly ask Ash and pulled him in.
* Why would you suddenly stretch your fingers in while you saw that I was shutting the door ... are you that crazy?! *
he asked Ash in a very worried and angry tone and sat him down in the couch, Steve took his and and started to blow on his reddened fingers which made Ash stare at him in awe and smile.
" he still cares for me, it really makes me happy "
Ash thought and caresse his cheeks with his other hand and smile warmly, he stare into Steve's eyes which made Steve blush and let go of his hand. Steve quickly walk into the kitchen and brought out some ice and he place it on Ash's swollen fingers.
* Steve, have Rin run the shop the next day *
Ash said to him and smile brightly.
* Why? *
Steve ask him confused.
* Isn't the following day the day of your check up? please allow me to drive you to the hospital *
he replied back to Steve which made him look at Ash stunned and shocked,
" he actually remember!! Why do I feel so happy?! "
Steve thought and slightly smile in happiness but he quickly covered it up and quickly step back from Ash.
* You don't need to bother yourself *
he said to Ash in a very harsh time and he pull Ash from the couch and pushed him out of the room and shut the door,
" this heart of mine is going to be the end of me, why is it beating so fast?! "
he smile brightly and clench tight his chest, he quickly took his bath and all as he sat in the couch thinking. His doorbell was rang and his face darkened in annoyance as he hurriedly walk to open the door.
* You really are a pest, you know *
he yelled but what he saw next stunned him as Ash was standing at his door all covered in snow and shivering.
* I read that when a person is with a child they get hungry continuously, so I bought you some tasty snacks for the night *
Ash said to him with a bright smile but Steve stared at him in shock
* is it snowing? *
he worriedly asked Ash.
* Yes, and it's pretty much cold outside *
Ash answered and pass him the bag.
* W ... well I won't thank you since I didn't ask for this *
he said to Ash as his face turn red from blushing a s he quickly shut the door.
" Steve haven't your heart had enough getting hurt but him constantly?! Don't give in to him treating you with extra care now, he might be doing all this for the child! "
The next day Steve got readied to go to the hospital for his check up, he walk out of his apartment room to find Ash all ready and waiting for him in the corridor. Ash hurriedly walk to him smiling brightly
* Did you get everything you need? *
he happily asked Steve which made Steve glare at him and walk ahead.
* I thought I told you I'd go by myself, you probably have a lot to take care of at the company so you don't need to tag along. And besides I don't need your assistance *
Steve harshly said to him but deep down he felt extremely happy
* No way! I am a responsible husband so of course I have to go along with my pregnant wife for his check ups. There's no way in hell that I am letting you go by yourself *
Ash said to him in a very happy tone and took Steve's bag and held his hand, he led Steve to his car and they both got in before he drove them to the hospital. Steve quickly walk into Elliot's office and took a sit
* Steve, I just received a notice that for your check ups and everything regarding your pregnancy, your husband has personally invited all the experts in the hospital to take care of you *
Eliot said to him
* Ahhh .. that guy always does what he wants *
Steve muttered to himself annoyed.
* Dr. Eliot that doesn't matter, you will always be my doctor *
he smile warmly and said to Eliot, he went along with Ash for the results of his check ups after the doctors run tests on him
* Mr. Martin your wife's results are all good, we have checked the data several times and his current condition is all good. We have even took a video of his ultrasound as a souvenir to take along with you *
one of the doctor said to them as he pass the CD to Ash,
* Thank you doctors *
Steve smile brightly as the doctor said to them, they walk out of the hospital to the loft and Ash open the door for him, he took his seat and Ash also took his seat and started to drive.
* Steve, I was really wrong about the way I treated you, I've changed my ways mad I promise to take very good care of you from now on, and I will take responsibilities for the both of you *
Ash felt very happy and said to him in a very soft and low tone which made Steve sigh.
* You will just take responsibilities for the child, I can take care of myself. I knew from the moment I decided to keep the baby I couldn't cut ties with you entirely *
Steve turn to him and said to him I. s very serious tone
* I was ready to leave you when I thought it was just me, I would have cut ties with you forever. But now that I'm with another being inside of me I don't want the baby to experience even a little of what I've experienced when I was growing up, I want my baby to grow up without regrets and have the love of both the parents *
he smile very happily as he slowly pat his stomach which made Ash beamed with happiness.
* Steve, are you saying you're giving me a chance? Are you finally ready to forgive me? *
Ash's smile widened as he asked Steve.
* Please read more into my words, I am giving you a chance to prove yourself to the child not me. I have no strength left to face you *
Steve sigh and reply to him.
* What do you mean by that Steve? *
Ash ask him in a very serious tone.
* I want us to sign an agreement in order for the baby to have a better growth *
Steve's gave turn serious as he replied to him which shocked Ash very much as he wasn't expecting that from him, he knew Steve was angry at him but to this extent made Ash felt it was too much.
* The agreement will be about responsibilities and obligations as parents, you and I don't need to have any personal ties. I won't ask for a divorce because it wouldn't be good for the child, we both don't need to interfere in each other's personal lives. You can date anyone you want but they can't live with you as it wouldn't be a good example for the child *
Ash was dumbfounded and shocked as Steve said all that to him.
* Steve, such agreements are very important and need a legal adviser, so for now let me think about it first, I will take you back home for now *
Ash said to him as he felt dejected and sad about Steve's words, Steve got down from the car when they reach the apartment and Ash drove off in a hurry. For hours Steve sat on his bed in his apartment thinking Ash would come ring his bell as he usually does but Ash didn't come and it got really late,
* Will the baby resemble him? Have I successfully driven him away as I wanted? *
Steve said to himself as his eyes became glassy with tears threatening to fall, he laid down on his bed and sadly fell asleep.
Steve was busily working in his shop the next day when his phone rang and he pick up the phone as he saw it was from the mansion so he hurriedly pick up the call
* Young Master Steve we have a crisis *
Uncle Vincent said to him in panic as soon as he pick the call
* Calm down and tell me what happened *
Steve to uncle Vincent.
* The Boss was involved in an accident and was taken to the hospital *
he quickly said to Steve which made Steve shout, his heart started to race and he started to panic as warm tears started to ooze from his eyes and his voice started to break
* H ... h .. how .. is ... he .. where .. is .. he ... ad ... mitted? *
Steve couldn't find his voice as he felt very worried and his heart was giving out, he started to have a hard time breathing.
* He is admitted in the same hospital which you visit *
Steve quickly hang up the call and hurriedly walk out of the shop to his cat and sped to the hospital, Mavis was already waiting for him at the parking loft and she led him to Ash's room in the ward area. Ash was laying unconscious on his bed and Steve started to cry and turned to Mavis
* How is he? Is he going to be okay ? *
he started to ask her as she looked very worried too.
* We are waiting for the doctor for his results *
Dr. Eliot walk in as soon as Mavis said that to Steve and he hurriedly walk to Eliot and held his hands
* is he going to be okay? What's wrong with him why isn't he awake? *
he worriedly ask and Eliot smile to him.
* Steve, he is out of danger for now so relax, we just have to wait for him to regain consciousness before we run more tests *
Eliot reply to him
* how long will it take for him to regain consciousness? *
Steve worriedly ask Eliot.
* I can't tell, Steve I'm sorry *
Eliot reply back and walk out with Mavis leaving Steve as he sank to the floor and sob.
