Chapter 36

Three weeks passed after Steve's operation and he was still laying unconscious, Steve groaned as he started to regain consciousness. He jolted his eyes opened and he looked down to his belly but his bump wasn't there and he started to panic, he quickly sat up as he felt his body sore but he had no time to think or care about that. Steve peeled the sheet off his body in search for his bump but he couldn't see it as his belly looked and felt different from the last time he saw it, Steve felt heartache and suddenly broke into uncontrollable tears, Eliot ran into the room in hurry and panic to find Steve in a mess.
" Steve are you hurting? do you feel pain? "
he worriedly asked him but Steve just stared at him broken
" Eliot it isn't there! I can't find it?! it's gone! "
Steve yelled between sobs which made Eliot confused
" Steve what are you searching for?! "
Eliot asked worriedly but Steve wouldn't talk and just sobbed as he threw things around which made Eliot injected him with a sedative drug, Steve slowly started to calm down as he was put to sleep. Eliot walked out of the room as the nurses started to clean up Steve's mess, he took out his phone and quickly dialed Ash's number.

Ash was in the office working and thinking about his wife and daughter when his phone rang, he picked up his phone and saw it was a call from Eliot which made him stopped everything he was doing and picked up the call in hurry
" Hello? doctor Eliot is there any problem? "
he worriedly asked
" Steve has woken up but there's a situation, you need to come to the hospital now. I had to sedate him to calm him down "
Eliot worriedly said to him which made Ash stood up from his chair in happy but he got worried again about what Eliot said
" what happened to him? why did you have him sedated? "
he asked in panic
" I don't know what happened too, he woke up a while ago and started to search for something as he cried and thrashed around. when I asked him he wouldn't say what was missing he just kept saying he can't find it and it's gone, I don't know whether he was talking about the baby but he won't calm down to explain himself so I had to put him to sleep. You need to get here before the what I sedated him with wears off! "
Eliot said to him before he hanged up, Ash hurriedly walked out of his office
" Mavis call my aunt to come to the hospital, Steve has woken up! "
he said and run out of the company before Mavis could even try to congratulate him, Ash got into his car and hurriedly drove to the hospital. Eliot led him to Steve who was now moved to the ward and left him to have alone time with Steve, Ash walked to Steve and kissed his cheeks before he stroked his face. Ash pulled the chair closer to Steve's bed and sat down
" Steve what brought your panic? Was it about our baby? You don't need to worry she's fine, just get better for her sake. I am sorry I wasn't here with you and had you go through heartache, when you wake you'll see her. She looks just like you with adorable little hands and feet, haha everything of her's are little and tiny. She wants you to hold her and she wants to feel your warmth too, she wants to hear your soothing voice "
Ash said to him as he smiled brightly and laughed thinking how their daughter, he sat beside Steve for some time before he walked out and went to see Eliot.
" Doctor Eliot what do you think brought about his panic earlier? "
Ash asked Eliot in worry
" my guess is he was looking for his bump, he thinks he had a miscarriage and that's what brought about his panic. "
Eliot said to him in a Professional tone
" you don't need to worry much we ran tests on him and he is okay, he can be discharged in a week's time. You just need to be with him when he wakes up and he needs to see the baby too for him to calm down "
Ash nodded in understanding
" Eliot can you arrange for a nurse to stay with us and help take care of the baby, I need someone trustworthy and recommended by you, I'll pay the nurse any amount she asks for "
Ash said to him in a serious tone and Eliot smiled
" sure leave that to me, we have a lot of competent nurses here. I'll send a nurse I trust to you "
Eliot replied back before Ash walked out and walked to the baby care center, he watched and played with his daughter for hours before his aunt came to find him. They were talking when Eliot ran over to them in worry
" He is awake and isn't calmed still, Ash come with me to see him "
Eliot said to him and they ran back to the ward, Ash slowly opened the door to Steve's and walked into the room. Steve noticed him and his tears fell more as he cried louder which made Ash worried and quickly walked over to him and hugged him, Steve continued to cry as Ash patted his back trying to calm down
" Ash I'm sorry i should've listened to you, Ash I lost our baby and it's all my fault. You must hate me right, I lost it Ash "
Steve said between sobs which made Ash broke the hug and brought Steve's face to his and smiled
" You didn't loose anything, the baby is fine. Just calm down first and stop crying, our daughter is fine "
Steve stopped crying and sniffled as he stared at Ash emotionless
" are you saying that to as a sympathy or you're just being sarcastic? "
Steve asked feeling more pained
" Steve no, you were unconscious for months, they performed the operation when your due time reached. My love our daughter is fine she looks just like you, they're bringing her now "
Ash said to Sreve smiling very brightly, Stece was about to talk when they heard a knock on the door and Ash stood up and hurriedly walked out. After a minute of silence he opened the door and slowly walked back to the room with their daughter in his arms, Steve stared at him not knowing how to react but he felt his heart swelled up as tears dripped down from his eyes. But this time it was tears of joy, Ash walked to him smiling like an idiot as he laughed, cried, smiled, Steve just felt speechless and overjoyed
" sweety you're excited to see him right "
he whispered to their daughter as she smiled and wiggled in his arms and he kissed her forehead,
" My love say hello to our little angel "
he said to Steve's who looked over joyed and laughed as tears continued to drip down his cheeks and he extended his arms
" C ... can I hold ... her? "
he asked Ash between sobs as he smiled and laughed and Ash smiled back
" of course my love, she's eager to meet her papa too "
Ash said and slowly placed her into his arms, Steve felt his whole world brightened up as joy and happiness overwhelmed him. His heart beat and pound loudly as she wiggled her little body in his arms and stretched out her little hands to touch his face, her smiles took away the pain he felt earlier and her laughs replaced them with hope and love as he laughed, sobbed in joy and smiled warmly at his little daughter
" what did you name her? "
he turned and asked Ash who watched them intensively in joy, his world was them and his world was completed.
" haven't named her yet, I wanted you to be the one to "
he smiled warmly and said to Steve
" Kira, let's name her Kira "
Steve smiled brightly and said to him, Ash got closer to them and gently hugged them and he kissed Steve on the lips and place a gentle kiss on their daughter's forehead
" Little one, your name is Kira. Papa chose just a lovely name for our lovely baby and daddy is proud of both of you for holding out "
he said and Steve smiled more brightly as Kira wiggled happily between her parents, soon the nurse came for Kira and took her back to the baby care Center. Steve didn't want to let go when his daughter was being taken away from him but Ash talked him into listening before he let the nurse have Kira, Ash's aunt walked into the room and hugged Steve as she sobbed and cried in joy
" Oh Steve dear you really scared me, how are you feeling? Is anything hurting? Do you feel pain anywhere? "
she asked him in worry and Steve smiled to her
" Aunty I'm sorry to put you into worry but I'm really okay now "
he said and she frowned
" don't talk nonsense, Steve I already told you your health matters! If you think you won't be happy staying with Ash just tell me I'll take both you and the baby away from him and there's nothing he can do to stop me "
she said to him in a serious tone as Ash stared at Steve feeling hurt and sad but he couldn't utter a word
" Aunty no need for that, I am happy with Ash and Kira and I want to stay with him "
he smiled brightly and said to her
" if you say so dear, is that the name you gave her? Kira? I like it "
she happily blabbered and he nodded
" I'll leave you to rest and get back your strength okay "
she walked out of the room with Ash leaving Steve to rest, the day ended with Ash occasionally checking up and taking care of him. The next day Issac and Rin cane to visit him when they heard about him regaining consciousness, Rin cried out a lot as they talked to Steve. Steve asked them all about what happened to him and they told him as he knew Ash wouldn't tell him, He was happy to hear that Ash had repaired his shop and all. Rin and Isaac left after they spent hours in the hospital keeping him company, Ash had to take care of some work in his company so he couldn't visit Steve in the morning neither in the day but Steve wasn't too sad about it as he felt happy whenever the nurse brought little Kira to see him. Ash hurriedly drove to the hospital after he was done with his work but it was late in the evening, he walked into Steve's room and Steve smiled happily when he walked in. Ash walked over and hugged and kissed Steve before he sat in the chair beside the bed, he was very exhausted but he couldn't careless about that as all that mattered to him was seeing his wife and their little daughter whom he saw before coming to see his wife too.
" How are you feeling now? "
he asked Steve
" I'm feeling better now, I'd be happy if they let me go now. I see no need to keep me here anymore "
Steve pouted and said which made Ash laughed
" the doctors will let you go when they see you're all better and ready to go "
Ash said to him and he pouted more
" I asked about the fire and I was told it was Zack who set it "
he glanced at Ash as he asked and Ash turned serious and nervous
" Yes, you don't need to bother yourself with him anymore he's living life behind a cell "
Ash said to him and he nodded in understanding he knew Ash didn't feel comfortable talking about it so Steve decided to let go of the matter
" how was work? "
he asked Ash worriedly
" work was okay, "
Ash answered in an exhausted tone
" you look very tired, I'm told you don't get enough rest and you sometimes sleep outside of the ICU in the bench "
he said in a very worried tone
" you don't need to worry about such things, too much worry isn't good for your health "
Ash said trying to keep him from asking more
" tell me what was the longest sleep you had in those four months? "
Steve glared and asked him in a serious tone which made Ash sighed
" three hours I think "
Steve's eyes widened in horror and shock,
" Pull the chair closer to the bed, please Ash "
he said to Ash in a pleading tone and Ash sighed and did as he was told, Steve hard him placed his on Steve's laps on the bed
" I know you don't want to go home now, so rest for a bit you look really exhausted "
Steve said to him and Ash wanted to get up and retaliate but Steve pleaded with him, Ash rest his head still and he soon fell in very deep slumber.
