Chapter 35

Ash walked into the the bathroom and took a quick shower, he walked out and dried himself up before putting on a new set of suit. He felt very tired mentally and physically but he had no time to think about rest as all he could think about was about Steve who was still unconscious, the thought of Steve not waking up soon had a toll on him and he was getting depressed. Ash hurriedly climbed down the stairs to the hall and sat in the couch as uncle Vincent brought him his breakfast,
" Boss I've informed the big Madam about Young Master's condition, she said to tell you to meet her up at the hospital when you're done "
Uncle Vincent said to him as he ate in hurry and he nodded, Ash's phone suddenly started to ring and he quickly took it up and picked the call,
" Hello? What's the situation? "
Ash quickly asked as soon as he picked the call
" Sir we've gotten Zack, we're taking him to the station now "
the person on the other said to him and Ash stood up at once from the couch as he knocked over the tray of food and the plate and mug fell to the floor and broke
" I'll meet you there now "
he quickly hang up the call and put the phone back into his pocket
" Uncle Vincent please clean this for me, call my aunt and tell her that I'll go to the hospital later but in case should Steve wake up she should call to let me know "
he said to Uncle Vincent before he quickly walk out of the house, uncle Vincent was shocked at his politeness. It was really a shock to them as he knew how Ash was, he has been working as a butler for Ash's father when he was alive and he helped raised Ash. Ash had always talked rudely to all the workers and ordered them hardly but now he had gravely changed for the better which made uncle Vincent smiled brightly
" Young Master had manage to change you Boss, I pray he wakes soon for you to be relieved of your stress now "
Uncle Vincent muttered to himself before getting back to his work. Ash parked his in front of the police station and hurriedly walked in, an officer hurriedly walked him to the interrogation room where Zack was kept. He opened the door walked in to see Zack beaten up mercilessly and was in terrible condition.
" what happened to him "
Ash asked the officer
" sir he gave us a lot of trouble with gangs and guns, one of our men was shot and now in the hospital "
the officer said to Ash who turned to look at Zack in anger, he was now left alone in the room with Zack as the officer left and locked the door from behind.
" Ash I wasn't really thinking when I did that, please let me out. I won't ever get close to any of you two ever again, Ash please for the sake of our past relationship "
Zack hurriedly walked over to him as he held unto Ash's suit with his cuffed hands, Ash looked at him in anger and disgust as she yanked his suit harshly from Zack's hold making him stumble and fell on his knees
" you do not know what's in wait of you, you had my pregnant wife hospitalized and yet you tell me you weren't thinking, huh?! "
Ash spat at him
" past relationship?! I regret ever involving myself with the likes of you, you've always been sick in your mind and I knew that clearly. I knew you were involved in Steve's first incidence with his mom but I let you go, I should have had you locked up since then, then this wouldn't have happened. Zack I'm taking my hands off your father's project, I won't invest in anything that involves in the project and I'll leave you to explain yourself to him. I want nothing to do with anything that involves you, and I'll make sure you'll spend years behind bars! "
Ash said angrily to and turned back, he was about to walk out when Zack crawled over and grab hold of his leg stopping him from walking out
" Is it because he is pregnant that's why you're favoring him so much?! I can get pregnant for you, I can do what he does. Ash I want you back I'll do anything for you, I'll do more than what he does! "
Zack said to him which made Ash felt more disgusted at him, Ash yanked his leg and kicked Zack away from him in pure rage
" you're really despicable, you have no shame at all, instead you regretting what you did to him you're sprouting nonsense. You can never measure up to him! You shouldn't try to compare yourself to Steve because you've got nothing that he has, both of you are different sides of a coin as he got all good sides and you're rotten to the core! don't waste my time, I have no time to listen to your nonsense because my mind is already made up! "
Ash walked from the interrogation room to the front desk to meet his lawyer patiently waiting for him, his lawyer hurriedly walked to him when he saw Ash approaching him
" Sir I've prepared everything you asked for, when should I proceed?! "
he asked Ash professionally
" today, I want all of them jailed now! they shouldn't be allowed to see the sunlight ever again! "
he said to the lawyer in anger and the lawyer nodded in understanding
" I want all my resources pulled from his father's project, have it known to my business partners that I'm no longer funding the project so they should pull out from it! "
Ash instructed his lawyer and walked out of the station to his car, he sat in and hurriedly drove to the hospital. He walked to Steve's room in the ICU area to meet his aunt, Mavis, Rin and Isaac looking worried as they came to visit Steve. Ash walked over to his aunt and hugged her as she sobbed and sniffled in his chest
" he still hasn't woken up yet? "
he asked them saddened
" the doctor also don't know when he is going to wake up, sir, madam you have to stay strong for the young Master "
Mavis said to them as she felt sympathy for them
" how did it go with the person who set the fire on Steve, was he caught? "
his aunt raised up her head and asked him in a serious tone
" yes and I'll make sure he pays dearly for this! "
Ash answered to her as she got angry
" Who was it? "
she asked
" Zack "
he said and she glared at him in disbelief, his aunty raised up her hand and suddenly slapped him hard across the face which made everyone gasped and stared shocked
" so this was your fault, if you had just stayed faithful to him after agreeing to the marriage all this wouldn't have happened. Yes his mom arranged the marriage and I talked you into agreeing, I'm faulted too as I kept quiet not minding everything you did afterwards. I didn't want to get him into more arguments with his mom and that's why I kept mute but Ash, you did more bad to him! From now on I'm going to be there for him even if it means taking him away from you I'll do that if that's the only way he'd be happy! "
she scolded and yelled at him and he kept mute as he felt heavy heartened, he already blamed himself for what had happened to Steve. A week passed and still Steve remained unconscious making them worried day after day, a month passed and still Steve wouldn't wake up but the doctor assured them that his health and the baby's wasn't in danger. Ash had to get back to work and Steve's flower shop had been renovated into brand new and the workers started to work with Rin and Isaac watching over, Ash visits Steve every morning before going to wirt and after work he stops by before going home and sometimes he ends up sleeping at the hospital. That was now his daily routines as he prayed hard that Steve to wake up and soon three months passed with Steve still unconscious in the hospital, things became hectic which made Ash worried more than he was. He felt depressed and exhausted physically and mentally, Steve's due time was in a month now and they were discussing about operating on his while unconscious
" Mr. Martin if he doesn't wake in his month due we have to proceed with the operation while he is unconscious, there's no way around. "
one of the big doctors said in their meeting
" will they be at risk? "
his aunt asked in worry
" Madam it's 80/20 and we're very positive we can go through with it, leave everything to us and we'll do our best without any casualties "
the doctor said to her in a positive and assuring tone
" Ash you know I won't agree for the operation to proceed if it was risky, we have a high rate success about the operation just have faith in us "
Eliot turned to Ash and said to him in a professional manner leaving Ash and his aunt to think and ponder about it for a while.
" okay I'll sign the documents for the operation, I'll leaving his and the baby's life in your hands "
Ash said and his aunt nodded, he signed the documents and they all left after the meeting. It was now Steve's due date but he still hadn't regained consciousness so they had to proceed has planned, Steve was moved to the operation room as Ash, his aunt, Mavis and Isaac stayed in wait of good results as they prayed in their hearts. Hours later Eliot walked over to them as they all ran to him
" how are they? "
they all asked in unison which made Eliot smiled
" congratulations the operation was a success, it's a baby girl "
he said to them as they sighed in relieve with glassy eyes, tears oozed out of Ash's aunt's eyes
" where are they? "
Ash worriedly asked
" They're both moved back to the ICU with the baby in an incubator for now, she will be observed in the incubator for about a week or two "
Eliot said which made their eyes widened in worriedly
" is her life in danger? "
his aunty asked Eliot in panic
" No, nothing of that sort, she's healthy and okay "
he quickly replied and assured her as she calmed down, they all walked to Steve's room in the ICU as they watched him through the glass. Eliot permitted Ash to go in for a couple of minutes, Ash walked slowly towards Steve's bed as tears run down his cheeks. He couldn't contain his tears he felt joy and heartache at the same time and he didn't know what to do, he slowly stroked Steve's face as he clenched tight his heart. He walked to the incubator and stared at their daughter who turned her face to him and she wiggle and smiled in the incubator, Ash smiled back as tears off joy dripped from his cheeks. Ash slowly stretched his hand into the incubator to her and she grabbed his finger, his heart swelled up and he laughed and smiled as he couldn't contain the joy he felt
" you look just like your papa, I promise to take very good care of the both of you. I'll provide you with everything you want even if it's the last thing I do, I won't make the both of you cry, never and ever. This is my promise to you little one "
he said to her before he took his hand out of the incubator and walked back to Steve and bend to him, Ash gently took Steve's hand into his and leaned to his face as he placed a gentle kiss on Steve's forehead.
" Why are you still in sleep? Don't you want to see your daughter? Are you going to have her grow up without you? I thought you said you wanted her to have the love of both parents, how is she going to receive love from you if you keep sleeping like this? Steve I'm slowly dying without you, it hurts so much seeing you like this! Please wake up for us, we need you, we love you! Steve I need you so please wake up and let's both take care of our daughter together, let's provide her with all the love in this world, let's both be by her side whenever she seeks us out. Steve please wake up for me "
Ash whispered into Steve's ears as his tears dripped down and fell on Steve's face, he stood up and gently placed Steve's hand down before he walked out of the ICU.
