Chapter 11 She Is Too Thin

Shelley's face was gentle and soft, and there was obvious sincerity in her big eyes.
She seemed to say it casually, but her attitude was clearly serious.
She looked into Adrian's eyes. "Don't worry. Since we are married, I will definitely be responsible for the living of the family. I won't put all the burden on you alone."
Adrian was stunned. He didn't even know what to say.
This was the first time that he had heard a girl tell him that she would support the family.
There was a smile in Adrian's cold eyes. "I'm afraid you can't, because I spend a lot."
"Nobody knows if I can before I try. At worst, I will work harder." Shelley said calmly, "Don't underestimate me. I'm a little famous, and my manuscript is worth a lot of money."
She had found that Adrian's clothes were expensive, but she believed she could support the family if she worked harder.
After all, Louis Davis told her that her works were worth a lot of money.
But Adrian obviously didn't believe it. He just thought she was joking.
However, when he knew her true identity in the future, he realized that what she said was true.
Her manuscripts were of great value.
But at this time, Adrian just smiled. "Thank you for what you did last night."
"You're welcome. These are what I should do as a wife." Since Adrian changed the topic, Shelley also let it go. "By the way, I put your document on the table at home. If you need it now, I will go back and get it for you."
Adrian shook his head. "No, I asked my colleague to get it."
Hearing that, Shelley didn't say anything more. Her sleep was disturbed before, so she was sleepy again. She covered her mouth and yawned.
"It's still early. If you're sleepy, go to sleep for a while." When Adrian saw she was sleepy, he pulled the quilt away and was about to get out of bed. He wanted Shelley to sleep on the bed.
Shelley stopped him. "I'll just take a nap on the sofa."
After saying that, she walked to the sofa, curled up, rested her head on the armrest of the sofa, and closed her eyes.
She was really sleepy.
She slept late last night, and because of her uncomfortable posture, she didn't sleep well. She was woken up after sleeping for less than three hours. It was even hard for her to talk to him for such a long time.
...
Not long after she put her head on the armrest, she fell asleep.
In the quiet ward, only Shelley's even breathing could be heard.
Adrian stared at her for a while. Then he got up and got out of bed. He walked over to the sofa and looked at Shelley closely.
Shelley was very small with a gentle face. Her beauty was not aggressive but attractive.
The way she curled up on the sofa reminded Adrian of the cat he had when he was a child.
The cat was cute and made his heart soft.
Adrian watched Shelley for a while with a frown. Then he leaned over to support her head, carefully passed his arm under her arms, and lifted her legs to carry her.
Just as he thought, Shelley was very light.
Adrian couldn't help frowning. Shelley was so good at cooking, but she didn't eat much.
She was so thin and light.
Adrian put Shelley on the bed, pulled the quilt to cover her, and then was about to leave.
Shelley's phone rang at this moment.
Shelley seemed to be disturbed. She frowned and muttered, "Kevin, answer the phone."
She was dreaming at the moment about the dormitory life in college, and naturally regarded the phone ring as part of her dream.
Kevin?
It was obviously a man's name. Adrian pulled a long face.
The phone was still ringing. Shelley turned over and said again, "Kevin?"
It seemed that if Adrian didn't answer the phone, Shelley would be completely woken up.
After hesitating for a moment, Adrian reached into the pocket of Shelley's clothes.
Adrian got the mobile phone with a pink shell and saw the caller ID on the screen.
Alfred.
Adrian answered it. He lowered his voice and said before Alfred spoke, "She is sleeping. Call her later after she wakes up."
After saying that, he hung up without giving Alfred a chance to speak.
On the other end of the phone, Alfred stood up holding the phone in shock. After the phone was hung up, there was obvious anxiety on his gentle face.
In the early morning, a man answered the phone and said in a low voice when Shelley was sleeping.
All these messages meant one thing.
Shelley had a boyfriend.
This truth made Alfred restless.
He put on his coat immediately.
Then he picked up the key on the table and went out.
He was going to ask Shelley about it!
But when he got to the door, he stopped.
After he thought about it carefully, he changed his mind dejectedly and disappointedly.
He had no right to ask Shelley.
He was just Shelley's senior.
Shelley didn't even know his love for her. If he went to ask her like that...
He didn't want to lose his identity as Shelley's senior.
However, he wouldn't let that man get Shelley so easily.
After hanging up the phone, Adrian put the phone back in Shelley's pocket.
Then he used his phone to send a message to Michael.
[Bring the documents on the table to me.]
When Michael came, it was already dawn.
In the general ward area, there were many patients and the family members of the patients. It was noisy.
Fortunately, Adrian was sent to the hospital late at night. The doctor was afraid of disturbing other patients, so Adrian was sent to an empty ward.
There were two beds and a small single sofa in the ward.
When Michael came, Adrian sat on the sofa, resting his chin on his hand, holding a mobile phone in the other, and watching financial reports on the screen.
Shelley was lying in one of the beds and sleeping.
"Mr..."
Michael was just about to greet Adrian. Adrian glanced at Michael and hinted Michael to keep quiet.
Michael put the bag of clothes down and handed the documents and the breakfast he bought to Adrian.
Adrian took them and waved to Michael. Michael bowed and left.
When Michael walked to the door, he remembered something. He turned around and wanted to say something. Then he caught a glimpse of Shelley who was sleeping and decisively used his mobile phone to send a message to Adrian.
[Mr. Layton, should I find a VIP ward for you?]
When he came here through the corridor, he found that at least a hundred people were living on this floor. The corridor was crowded and chaotic, and the noise was unbearable even for him, let alone for Adrian.
Adrian frowned. He tapped the screen with his finger.
[No, I can't let her doubt my identity.]
When he was about to send the message, he hesitated.
He suddenly remembered the scene that Shelley curled up on the sofa. He deleted the words he had typed.
Then he typed some other words.
[Yes.]
After receiving the answer, Michael turned around and went to apply for a VIP ward.
When the nurse came to move Adrian to a new ward, Shelley was woken up.
