Chapter 21 Shelley Had a High Fever
Shelley finally calmed down after four hours.
When she shivered and called Adrian, he carried her out of the ice water the next second.
She was so cold. It almost took all her strength to call his name.
When Adrian hugged her in his arms, she leaned towards his warm body subconsciously.
She put her arms around his waist, trying to get closer.
Shelley's body was fragrant and weak. When she curled up in his arms, Adrian almost couldn't feel her weight.
His clothes were clinging to his body as he constantly pulled Shelley into the ice water and soaked his clothes. When Shelley was being held like this, she could feel the strong muscle lines of his waist and abdomen.
Everything that happened before was like a movie playing in her mind.
Shelley remembered how she flirted and seduced Adrian, how she kissed him and whispered in his ear...
Shame made her body temperature gradually rise, and her face flushed.
Shelley buried her face in his chest, too embarrassed to look up.
Adrian carried her to the sofa and placed her on the leather sofa.
Then he turned his back and said, "There are clean clothes on the bed. Do you have the strength to change by yourself?"
Shelley's eyelashes fluttered. She looked up to quickly glance at the neatly folded pajama on the bed, and her ears also flushed.
"Yes, I can do it myself."
There were just two of them. If she wouldn't be able to change by herself, would she ask him to help?
When Shelley thought about this, her face was burning again.
Adrian didn't think too much and said, "Okay, I'll go out. Call me when you're done."
The door was opened and closed again.
Shelley sat on the sofa for a while before moving to the bed step by step.
Her fingers were stiff, so she was a little clumsy. It took her a long time to take off the sweater.
Somehow, she felt secure when she knew Adrian was outside.
Ten minutes later, Shelley put on her pajamas clumsily. She said, "I'm done."
Her soft voice was very low, but Adrian heard it immediately when standing at the door.
When he pushed the door open, he saw Shelley in a furry rabbit pajama.
The long ears hung down behind the hood, and there was a ball of white rabbit tail on the buttocks, which was warm and cute.
Adrian was stunned when seeing her.
Shelley couldn't hold back the sneeze and brought Adrian back to his senses.
Seeing her long hair still dripping, Adrian frowned and strode over with a clean towel.
Shelley thought it was for her, so she reached out to take it. "Thank you..."
Adrian ignored her and landed his hand on her head. His movements were not gentle, and he wiped her hair clumsily.
"I asked the hotel kitchen to cook some soup for you, and it will be delivered in a while. You have been soaking in ice water for so long. You should drink some soup to get rid of the cold and then have a good sleep." Adrian's voice was low and slightly cold, exuding an imperceptible depression. He added, "As for other things, we will talk about it tomorrow."
Shelley pursed her lips and lowered her head. She said, "Thank you... today. And your friends.
"Please send my gratitude to them. I will treat them to dinner when they're free."
Shelley remembered that it was Evelyn and her husband who saved her.
A meal couldn't express the gratitude in her heart.
After all, if they weren't there, she would probably...
When thinking about it, Shelley couldn't help but tremble uncontrollably.
She didn't expect a person would be so vicious!
Sensing her fear, Adrian made his movements lighter, and his voice was softer.
"Okay," he said, "don't think too much. Have a good rest."
"Don't be afraid. I'm here with you."
Shelley blinked her eyes. Her fearful heart was unexpectedly soothed by his words.
She was suddenly grateful for Adrian, who was coerced to marry her.
He should hate her, but he gave her the protection and tenderness that a husband should have.
"Adrian, Thank you." Shelley looked up and thanked Adrian, who obviously hadn't dried hair for others before.
Adrian looked down at her. As he was tall, it was easy for him to see the emotion in her eyes.
It seemed her gaze was different from before.
Adrian couldn't tell exactly what was different, but he was unexpectedly not disgusted with this change.
He raised the corner of his lower lip and said softly, "It's the least I can do."
When he turned around and was going to find a hair dryer to dry Shelley's hair, there was a loud thump as he turned his head.
The scene in Shelley's eyes went dark, and she passed out.
...
Shelley had a high fever of 104 degrees.
She was burnt like a boiled shrimp, red from head to toe.
She was in a coma and had nightmares all day.
When Shelley woke up, it was already dark outside the window. The street light came in through the window and fell on a tall figure in the window. She was dizzy and couldn't react for a moment. She subconsciously said to the man, "Lucas, pour me a glass of water."
Adrian realized she had woken up after hearing her voice. When he turned around and heard the name, he frowned but said nothing. He turned around and poured a glass of water for her.
"Who is Lucas?"
When Shelley reached for water, Adrian asked her.
She was startled, and the water splashed out with a violent shake of her hand. The temperature on the back of her hand was not high, but it made her panic a little.
She looked up at Adrian, who was standing beside the bed and looked calm.
He seemed to just ask casually. He was not unhappy or suspicious.
Shelley subconsciously bit her lip and said, "A... friend."
The long pause in the middle was enough for Adrian to realize that Shelley didn't want to mention her so-called friend at this time.
Everyone had a past. Adrian didn't intend to inquire, so he changed the topic and said, "Are you feeling better now?"
Shelley nodded and took a sip of the water in the glass.
Adrian said again, "The police have been waiting outside to make a record for you."
It took Shelley a few seconds to react. Her face turned pale a little. She said, "Because of what happened last night?"
"Yes."
She clenched her fists and said, "I..."
Adrian patted the back of her hand with his big warm hand and said, "Don't worry. I'm here."
After finishing speaking, he added with a frown, "Or you don't want to call the police to bring them to justice?
"Shelley, they are committing a crime. No crime can be covered up! "
Adrian said in a deep tone, holding back his anger as if he would lose his temper immediately if Shelley nodded her head or expressed her slightest different opinion.
She quickly shook her head and said, "No. I just..."
Although Shelley had nothing to lose last night, that kind of thing was too scary for a girl. It was difficult for her to accept it and confess to a stranger for a while.
She just needed a little courage.
She looked up at Adrian, who narrowed his eyes and stared at her sharply.
Shelley took a breath, looked down at the white sheets, and said, "Please call them in."
