Chapter 30 It Is Brought Forward
Adrian looked at the boundless night outside the window, and the street lights dotted in the night. He said in a cold voice, "I'm in the hospital."
Michael was stunned and asked, "Why did you go to the hospital?" After a pause, he asked with worry, "Is your stomach hurting again?"
They kept a secret about Adrian getting alcohol intoxication. To deal with those clients tonight, Adrian drank a few cups of wine. Michael was worried whether Adrian felt unwell.
"I am fine." Adrian frowned. He said with indifference and impatience, "I asked you to investigate Shelley. Why didn't you investigate the history of her love story?"
It took Michael a while to react. Then, his eyes widened. He even stood up and hurried out of the private room regardless of the situation.
He wondered why Adrian suddenly cared about Shelley's history of love relationships.
He thought, "Could it be that..."
Michael hurried towards the restroom. After confirming that there was no one there, he said.
"I found out that Ms. Harper only had one relationship, and it only lasted for less than three months. The man seems to be just an ordinary person. I didn't find out his identity, so..."
Adrian interrupted him, "You said the young master of the Grove family is an ordinary person?"
Michael was stunned for a moment, and then his voice changed in surprise. "You said Ms. Harper's only boyfriend was the young master of the Grove family?"
He was surprised. Michael thought, 'How could a good girl like Ms. Harper be with a dude like Dalton?
Could it be that everything I found was wrong? Shelley is actually a scheming woman who is good at disguising?'
Michael was stunned.
Then he felt that his guess was wrong. After all, he even found out where Shelley went to kindergarten, and also found out the evaluation of her by the teachers of the school she attended since she was a child.
All of her teachers thought that Shelley was obedient, well-behaved, serious, and excellent.
They evaluated Shelley without a single negative word!
If such a character was only supported by acting, it would be very tough!
Just in case, Michael still said, "Mr. Layton, I will check again."
"I don't want you to make mistakes like this again."
"Well, I promise."
Adrian hung up the phone, turned around and went back to the ward.
Shelley curled up on the big bed. Her face was on a light blue quilt, and her long hair was scattered on the pillow, forming a huge color contrast with the white light. She looked like an elf.
Shelley's long and thick eyelashes curled up.
Her nose was delicate.
Her lip shape was perfect. It was light pink. As if dreaming of something good, she smiled.
The whole picture was quiet and beautiful, causing Adrian to watch and stay at the door in a daze.
It just so happened that Callie came to make rounds. She saw Adrian blocking the door. Callie called softly, "Mr. Layton."
Adrian turned her head, and her gaze was filled with coldness for a moment.
Callie was frightened, and reflexively took a step back.
Adrian came back to his senses. He relaxed a little and said, "Hush down, she's asleep."
Callie nodded and said, "I came to check Ms. Harper's body temperature."
"Well."
Adrian let her in coldly. When Callie took out the thermometer, he told her, "Don't wake her up."
Callie was stunned. After realizing it, she smiled and said in a low voice, "Mr. Layton, you are really considerate towards Ms. Harper."
Adrian frowned.
He didn't think he was good to Shelley. He thought that he was just fulfilling the responsibility of being a husband.
Shelley's body temperature dropped again when it was about to dawn.
Because of repeated fever, the doctor advised Shelley to stay in the hospital for further observation.
Adrian accompanied her to eat breakfast and left to go to work. After he left, Shelley went to the Department of Cerebral Surgery to see her grandma.
Seeing that she was still wearing a hospital gown, Doctor White said earnestly, "Ms. Harper, you should take care of your health. Just like your grandma is your only relative, you are also her only relative. Don't let her worry about you when she is in this situation."
Knowing that Doctor White was saying this for her own good, Shelley smiled softly and nodded. "Thank you, Doctor White, I will."
"You're welcome. That's all I can do..." Doctor White looked away, sorting out the medical records.
Seeing that he was about to get busy, Shelley said goodbye and left.
Through the glass window of the intensive care unit, Shelley chatted with her grandma until Mia came to look for her again.
Mia was carrying a huge black schoolbag, which was heavy. Shelley didn't know what was in it.
The always lively girl had huge dark circles under her eyes. She looked at Shelley sadly and said, "Shelley, when will you recover from your illness?"
Shelley was hospitalized.
Shelley's project was temporarily handed over to Mia to deal with.
Within two days of taking over, Mia was annoyed by those strange clients.
Mia thought that she would go furious all the time when she faced them.
She wondered how Shelley dealt with them.
Seeing Mia's look, Shelley laughed and said, "What's wrong with you?"
"I became like this because of Reece Lawford!"
"Really, I think Mr. Lawford is very easy to get along with!"
Mia thought, "Are you serious?" She glared at Shelley at the same time.
Shelley was a little uncertain by Mia's stare. She said, "Well, I admit that he may be asking for too much, but he is still relatively easy to communicate with and can accept our opinions. It is already very good."
"Are you sure?" Mia complained, "Do you know how many versions I changed for him just yesterday morning? Forty-three versions! And it's just an insignificant detail in the kitchen!"
It was also the first time Mia knew that there were people in this world who were so picky!
Mia almost went crazy!
Shelley was amused by her appearance. She said, "If you really can't handle it, just leave it alone for some days. I will deal with it when I am recovered. Anyway, these orders are not too urgent, and it's okay to delay for a day or two."
"These are not urgent, but the order of Cindie is very urgent." Mia suddenly changed her tone.
Shelley frowned and asked, "What happened to Cindie?"
"Early this morning, the government issued a public announcement. All the rectification steps for the environment in Cindie were brought forward. Universe Inc. immediately announced that the draft review time was advanced to next Monday. Mr. Attlee almost went crazy when he received the news. Especially Orchid Inc., at this time, asked how further our project has progressed. Mr. Attlee was so angry that he broke the cup."
Orchid Inc. and Forest Inc. were rivals. To be precise, Orchid Inc.'s director, Leia Pelley, and Forest Inc.'s director, Wayne, were rivals.
According to gossip, Leia and Wayne seemed to be ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend. Because they didn't break up decently, they had been at odds over the years.
Shelley said, "Wow, Orchid Inc. is a bit unkind!"
