Chapter 14 Meet Next Time

Shelley hurried to the police station and saw Alfred sitting on a bench.
The tall man sat there, with a gentle face and outstanding temperament, which was rare to see in such a place.
When he saw Shelley, he smiled. "You're here."
He didn't look like a suspect who needed someone else to bail.
On the contrary, he seemed to be visiting a friend's home. He was calm and leisurely.
"Alfred, are you alright?" Shelley looked more nervous than him.
Alfred nodded. "I'm fine. There is no camera on that road, but fortunately there is one in the nearby supermarket, so I am innocent."
Shelley breathed a sigh of relief. "It's great. Let me talk to the police first."
"OK."
Alfred looked at Shelley's back with a gentle and meaningful smile.
Shelley talked to the police smoothly.
No one was injured, and there was no loss of property. The fraudster was punished, and Alfred, the victim, was allowed to leave.
The two of them went out together. When Shelley was about to take a taxi, Alfred said to her, "It's almost noon. Let's have lunch together, and then go to the hospital to visit your grandma."
Shelley was stunned for a moment. "I'm sorry, Alfred. I'm afraid I can't have lunch with you today."
"Are you busy?" Alfred asked.
Shelley nodded. "A friend of mine is hospitalized. I'm going to the hospital to take care of him."
A friend?
Alfred remembered the phone call in the morning.
"Boyfriend?" He tried his best to keep his tone natural, but his hands in his trouser pockets had already become fists.
Shelley shook her head. "No."
Adrian was her husband, not her boyfriend.
Alfred suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. It was probably just a male friend who had no relatives in Sea City and was close to Shelley.
The smile on his face became more natural. "I will drive you there."
His tone was undeniable. Shelley didn't want to refuse. She nodded with a smile.
On the way, the atmosphere in the car was a little embarrassing because neither of them spoke.
Shelley was a little surprised at the atmosphere and was just about to speak when she heard Alfred say. "Is the apartment empty after you moved out?"
"Yes." Shelley turned to look at Alfred. "What's wrong?"
"Mr. Davis intends to develop his career at home. He asked me back to investigate the market this time, so I probably have to stay in Sea City for some days. It's not good to stay in a hotel all the time, so..."
Alfred paused meaningfully.
Shelley said what Alfred wanted to hear during this pause. "Why don't you live in my apartment? Anyway, it is empty now."
"Is it convenient?" Alfred tried his best to suppress his excitement.
"Why should it be inconvenient?" Shelley lowered her head and took out the key from the bag. She handed it to him. "If you need help when you move, just tell me."
Shelley was abandoned when she was a child, so she had always been hard to deal with feelings, and it was difficult for her to really trust someone.
But once someone got her trust, she would wholeheartedly trust that person and try her best to help him or her.
She didn't care if she would suffer any losses.
She had a pure heart that was rare in this world.
While waiting for the green light, Alfred took the key, inexplicably feeling the heavy meaning of it.
After a few seconds, he looked into Shelley's eyes and said, "Thank you."
Shelley was not sensitive to feelings, so Alfred wanted to take his time. He would enter Shelley's word step by step until she couldn't drive him out.
The car got to the hospital. Alfred wanted to send Shelley in, but Shelley refused.
"My friend is a little weird and is not very good at getting along with strangers."
Adrian, who was said to be weird, wore a peaked cap and passed by them with the lunch box Michael sent here in his hand.
Hearing this, he stopped and looked at Shelley meaningfully.
Then he withdrew his gaze in an instant and then went into the hospital.
Alfred understood. It seemed that Shelley's friend had a social phobia.
"Well, let's meet next time when you're free." Alfred was very good at controlling the distance without bothering Shelley.
Shelley didn't suspect him at all.
"OK."
After saying goodbye to Alfred, Shelley took the elevator upstairs.
As soon as she approached the ward, she smelled the tempting aroma of food, and her stomach started to growl.
Shelley had meals routinely every day. She was busy with matters of Adrian and Alfred this morning, so she didn't have time to have breakfast, which made her very hungry now.
She opened the door and went in. Adrian was taking out the dishes one by one from the box.
Seeing her, Adrian said, "You come back just in time. Wash your hands and come to have lunch."
Shelley went to the bathroom to wash her hands and then came out to look at the table full of sumptuous dishes.
The familiar packing box made her surprised. "Is this the food of Cook And Cuisine?"
She then added, "But they never send takeaways."
The food had the best taste when it was just cooked. Cook And Cuisine was a famous restaurant. The chef there had a strict principle about food.
Takeaways would affect the taste of food, so Cook And Cuisine never sent takeaways.
Adrian raised his eyebrows and looked at Shelley, with a strange emotion in his eyes. "Do you know Cook And Cuisine?"
"Well, I was lucky enough to have dinner there with my boss once." Shelley nodded. She seemed to like the food there. "I like one dish there, but I can't learn it, although I have tried many times."
Adrian nodded. "If you like the food there, I'll take you there later."
"Great," Shelley responded casually, but didn't take it seriously.
Cook And Cuisine only accepted 18 reservations a day, regardless of size.
But more people wanted to enjoy the food there.
As far as Shelley knew, the reservations were already full in the next few years in Cook And Cuisine.
Obviously, Shelley preferred the food that she could taste right now, instead of the food she couldn't taste in the next few years.
Shelley took the fork quickly and tasted every dish.
Indeed, takeaways would affect the taste. These dishes were delicious, but they would be better if she ate them when they were just cooked.
But she was still happy.
On the contrary, Adrian put down the fork just after a few bites.
Shelley looked up at him. "What's the matter? Don't you have a good appetite?"
Adrian frowned. "It's unpalatable."
Was it really unpalatable? Cook And Cuisine was the best restaurant in Sea City.
Shelley explained. "It takes at least twenty minutes to get here from Cook And Cuisine, which will definitely affect the taste of the food. It's quite amazing for them to keep it delicious like that."
"I think the food you cook is much better than this," Adrian said this sincerely. He put down his fork and wiped his mouth with a tissue.
Shelley was stunned for a moment and then showed a bright smile.
People who like to cook were naturally very happy to be praised for the food they cooked.
Besides, Adrian even compared her with the chef of Cook And Cuisine.
Shelley was very happy. "Then I will go back, make the dinner, and bring it here."
"OK!"
Adrian didn't eat much. Shelley's stomach was not big enough to eat them all, so she was a little unhappy when she cleaned the table.
It was so wasteful.
"Will it make you tired?"
