Chapter 16 Don't Be Stubborn
Mia had an irascible temper and a sharp tongue. She was not afraid of anyone in the company. Whoever offended her, she would fight against immediately.
In addition, she has the same surname as Mr. Hudson. Everyone in the company was unsure whether Mia was a wealthy lady who came out to experience life. Therefore, few people dared offend her.
Vivian was the first person to offend her.
Mia scolded Vivian without any fear.
Shelley saw that Vivian's expression had changed, and she quickly grabbed Mia, who was about to fight Vivian.
"Vivian, let's go to Mr. Attlee first. Don't make him wait too long."
Then, Shelley dragged the furious Vivian away.
Mia still shouted behind her, "Shelley, don't be stubborn!"
Shelley allowed herself a wry smile. She knocked on the door of Wayne's office. "Mr. Attlee."
Seeing Shelley, Wayne immediately stood up and walked toward her as if she was a savior, stood up and walked towards her. "I'm sorry to ask you to return to the company when you have something to do today. But you are the only one who can solve this trouble."
Shelley didn't respond but kept a faint smile.
Wayne probably knew he was wrong on this matter, so he softened his attitude and said, "I thought that Trista has the connections, so I gave her a chance and let her take this project. But I didn't expect she dared... Shelley, I canceled the project at that time but asked you to be in charge of it today. I know my request is unreasonable. But the project is imminent. The matter damaged the company's reputation. I don't know if this matter would affect the final result of this project. So I can only place the hope on you."
Shelley showed a little embarrassment. She said, "Mr. Attlee, I..."
"Whether you can win this project or not, I will double your year-end bonus." Wayne gave the condition.
Shelley compressed her lips. "It's not a matter of money, but..."
"Shelley, it is not just a personal accident about you, Trista, or me. It has involved the company. I think you also don't want other colleagues in the company to be mocked by others because of this incident, right?" Wayne looked pleadingly at her. "We need to change this situation, and you are the only one with this ability."
Shelley was a talent in design. Her talent was obvious to all in the company. Otherwise, Mr. Hudson would not be confident to participate in the competition.
Wayne was thoughtless this time. He thought Trista's connections could simplify this matter. But he never expected to make the big trouble.
Wayne's attitude was sincere. Shelley didn't know how to refuse him.
Shelley was well aware of the result. If she refused Wayne's proposal this time, the influence would intensify. At that time, everyone's benefit would be affected.
At that time, they would blame her for her selfishness. Since she had this ability and the possibility of solving the problem, why didn't she stand up?!
It was human nature. Shelley didn't think she could change their thoughts.
"Mr. Attlee, I can design the draft but can't guarantee the final result." Shelley didn't agree with Wayne indiscriminately. Before this, she had to make it clear in advance. "After all, like Universe Inc., that kind of enterprise may not take a small company like ours seriously."
Wayne knew this well.
He asked Shelley to solve this problem at this critical point, but he would not put all the pressure on her.
Hearing that she agreed to develop the design draft, Wayne finally breathed a sigh of relief. He hurriedly went to his desk, opened the drawer, and took a business card.
"This is the business card of the CEO's assistant in Universe Inc. I managed to get it from someone. You can contact him first, and I will also try to find a way to contact the CEO."
Shelley took the business card, glanced at it, and put it in her pocket. "OK."
"Also, Trista knows she has caused big trouble this time, so she is willing to share her connections. She promised to introduce her senior to you."
Shelley raised her eyebrows. She didn't expect Trista to be willing to share her connections. But she didn't care about it too much.
She didn't think the Director of the Corporate Propaganda Department at Universe Inc. could make influence on this matter.
But she didn't refuse it.
The premise was that it was really kindness.
When Shelley came out of Wayne's office, Trista stopped her.
Trista looked at her arrogantly as if she wasn't the one who caused the plagiarism scandal.
"Shelley, are you proud now?"
Shelley looked at her suspiciously.
"Do you think you're better than me if you snatch the project back? You're dreaming!" Trista's eyes were full of venom and gall. "One day, I will expose your hypocritical mask and tell everyone your true colors."
Shelley was speechless when she heard Trista's words. She had never said bad things about Trista or had conflicts with her. She didn't understand why Trista hated her so much.
However, her unrepentant somewhat irritated Shelley.
Looking at Trista's ferocious face, she frowned. "First, I never plagiarize. In this respect, I'm better than you."
"I'll repeat it. I didn't plagiarize!" Trista gritted her teeth and didn't think she was wrong. "I just borrowed and learned some of her ideas. Isn't she posting the design draft for everyone to learn from?
"If she was afraid that others would plagiarize her design, why did she post it? She should keep it so that no one would see her design. While posting her designs and enjoying others' praises, she doesn't allow others to learn from them. She is a bitch! I didn't plagiarize her designs!"
Shelley was shocked by her shamelessness!
She had never seen anyone who plagiarized others' works for granted. After being exposed, Trista could still scold the original designer.
Shelley looked at Trista's shameless expression in disbelief!
They were completely different people. It was a waste of time to say one more word to her.
Shelley turned to leave, but Trista blocked her way again.
"I invited my senior to have dinner tonight. You can go there with me."
Shelley glanced at her. "I have no time tonight..."
Before she could finish, Trista added, "If Mr. Attlee hadn't asked me to introduce my senior to you, do you think I would take you there? It has nothing to do with me if you can't send the draft to Universe Inc. one day. You go and explain it to Mr. Attlee and colleagues."
Shelley frowned.
Trista's provocation was not brilliant. It could even be called clumsy.
It was suspicious that she was so eager to introduce her senior to Shelley.
Trista folded her arms around her chest as if she knew Shelley would not refuse.
Trista thought she knew Shelley well. Shelley pretended to be kind and generous. In her eyes, Shelly was more scheming than anyone else.
Whenever there was a good project, Shelley would let everyone choose first with a generous expression. If she did a little work, she wished everyone in the company knew she was selfless. Therefore, to solve the trouble in this situation and become the savior of everyone, Shelley would definitely agree.
As Trista expected, after hesitating for several seconds, Shelley nodded. "Okay."
Trista chuckled and glanced at her ironically. "Go to Andrew Restaurant at seven o'clock tonight. Don't be late." After a pause, she added, "Remember to dress nicely."
Shelley frowned. Looking at Trista's back, she felt that something was wrong.
Was it necessary to dress up beautifully to have dinner with a stranger?
