Chapter 12 Get Out
Shelley opened her eyes and was blank for a moment.
It took a few seconds for her to remember that she was in the hospital with Adrian because Adrian suffered from alcoholism.
She quickly got up, and was surprised to find that she was actually sleeping on Adrian's bed.
Except for the nurse who was packing up, there was nobody else in the ward.
Shelley got off the bed and fixed her hair which became a little messy when she was sleeping. Then she asked, "Hello, where did the patient in this ward go?"
The nurse looked at Shelley in confusion. Wasn't Shelley here to accompany the patient? Why didn't she know where the patient was?
Shelley was a little embarrassed.
She didn't expect that she would sleep so soundly in an unfamiliar place. It had never happened before.
Moreover, she clearly remembered that she was on the sofa before falling asleep. How did she go to bed again?
Did she sleepwalk after falling asleep and go to bed herself?
She scratched her head awkwardly.
Shelley was beautiful and looked gentle. Most people would be willing to talk to her.
However, the nurse who was also beautiful was not one of them. There was hostility in the nurse's eyes.
"He went to the corridor to make a phone call."
The nurse's gaze made Shelley a little uncomfortable, but Shelley didn't think much about it.
It was fine since Adrian didn't leave. After all, Adrian hadn't recovered yet and couldn't leave the hospital now.
"Then what are you doing?"
The nurse frowned and scolded Shelley. "Are you really his girlfriend? You are here to take care of the patient, but you are sleeping and doing nothing. You shouldn't come here. It's ridiculous."
Shelley was stunned by the nurse's words. She stood there in confusion.
But she thought that Adrian might have to stay in the hospital for some days. They would have to get along with these nurses, so Shelley kept quiet and didn't want to argue with the nurse.
However, there was a sudden "bang" behind her. Adrian came in and stood at the door.
He pushed open the door very hard, and the door hit the wall, making a loud noise, which frightened Shelley.
Seeing Adrian, Shelley hurried over to him. "Sorry, I fell asleep. But, did the doctor say you could get out of bed and walk around?"
"Yes," Adrian answered. Then he glared at the nurse with sharp eyes.
He said coldly, "You have no right to scold her. How she takes care of me has nothing to do with you. Understand?"
In fact, the news of a handsome man coming to the emergency ward spread in the hospital early in the morning, and many young nurses were eager to see how handsome this man was.
Then, Michael booked a VIP ward for Adrian and chose the most luxurious one, which immediately made a lot of women excited.
Inger Carnes was one of them.
So she got the job of helping Adrian move to the new ward. She just wanted to see how handsome Adrian was and then try to figure out his identity.
Of course, Adrian's handsome face and outstanding temperament attracted Inger.
When Inger knew that Adrian actually had a girlfriend, her natural jealousy of a woman made her unable to treat Shelley nicely.
Right now, in front of Adrian's girlfriend, Inger was mercilessly warned when Adrian defended his girlfriend, which made Inger feel aggrieved.
Inger bit her lips and said, "I didn't say anything wrong. You are a patient. Since she is here to take care of you, she should do her job well. How could she sleep on your bed?"
"If she can't do this job, she shouldn't come here. Anyway, the service in the VIP ward is different from that in the general ward. I... we will give you professional care. You don't even need her here."
Shelley now finally understood why this nurse had such a bad attitude toward her. It seemed that the nurse liked Adrian.
Shelley suddenly felt amused.
She and Adrian just got married three days ago, but she had already met two women who were attracted by him.
How could he keep single for the past 28 years with such an attractive face?
Was it just because he was impotent?
But it was pleasant to live with such a handsome man who thought he couldn't have sex.
Thinking about this, Shelley felt that she was lucky.
"So, does it mean I should leave?" Shelley looked at Adrian and wanted to know his decision.
Adrian raised his eyebrows. "Isn't your responsibility to take care of me?"
"Yes, but..."
Shelley wanted to explain it, but she couldn't say anything when she met Adrian's sharp eyes.
She had her own thoughts.
She planned to ask for a leave to take care of Adrian for a day, but now Adrian would be taken good care of in the VIP ward. It would be a waste of money if Adrian didn't enjoy the service there.
But Shelley remembered what Adrian said to Trista in the restaurant before. Adrian didn't seem to like strangers touching his things, presumably because he was a neat freak.
So, Shelley hesitated for a while and then smiled gently. "Then I'll call the company and ask for a leave."
"That's good." The coldness on Adrian's face faded a little.
Shelley went out and made a phone call.
As soon as she left, Adrian stared at Inger with sharper and colder eyes.
"Get out of my sight. I don't need your so-called special care!"
Inger was scared by Adrian's anger and took a few steps back. She looked at Adrian in horror, feeling a chill down her spine.
"Get out!"
Inger fled in despair.
When Shelley came back after asking for a leave, she found that the nurse was no longer there.
She frowned. "Did the nurse leave?"
"I guess so." Adrian sat on the sofa and looked at his phone. He then looked up at her. "Have you asked for a leave?"
Shelley nodded. "I asked for two days off. Is that enough?"
She hadn't asked the doctor how long Adrian had to be hospitalized yet.
However, when she sent Adrian here last night, the doctor said that Adrian would be fine in two or three days.
Adrian looked fine now, so he must be recovering well.
"Yes." Adrian got up and reached for something.
Shelley immediately helped him. "I'll do it."
Adrian was still ill. Shelley was afraid that all nurses there were like the one just now who would scold her when they saw Adrian take things himself. It would be annoying.
"It's OK." Adrian saw through her worry at a glance. He explained. "I have already informed the hospital. Nobody will annoy you again."
Shelley looked at Adrian in confusion.
Was the service of the VIP ward really so great? The patient could even order the hospital.
She was thinking about moving her grandma to a VIP room. Perhaps the hospital would take more care of her.
Shelley made up her mind quietly, avoided Adrian's hand fetching something, and was about to go out.
As soon as she stepped forward, she kicked something.
