Chapter 22 Jealousy

The policemen came in and asked Shelley in detail about what had happened.
Shelley told them what she remembered.
The policemen asked her if there had been any grievances in the past between Trista and her. Shelley also frankly said the part she knew and did not take the opportunity to slander Trista.
It was an hour later when the police left.
Shelley leaned on the bed tiredly, staring out the window in a daze.
When Adrian came in with her bag in his hand, the phone was ringing in the bag.
"Evelyn and Caleb sent it over. They said the restaurant contacted them. Your phone has been ringing."
Shelley took over the bag, took out the phone, and answered it.
It was from Mia. Her worried voice sounded as soon as the call was connected. "Thank God. Shelley, you finally answered the phone. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Shelley's voice sounded obviously weak and hoarse, which made people feel distressed.
Mia was filled with indignation. She said, "The police came to the company in the morning to investigate Trista and her relationship with you. Only then did we know that she had done such a terrible thing to you. I thought she was just a bit straight, vain, and loved to compete, but I didn't expect her to be so wicked. That's outrageous. Whenever I remember that we have worked with such a person for so long, I feel a chill down my spine. She's so disgusted."
Shelley didn't expect the police would go to the company. She felt a little guilty and said, "I'm sorry to bother you because of my business. I..."
"What are you talking about?!" Mia interrupted her before she finished speaking. Mia added, "We can only help you with this little thing when such a thing happens to you. We should feel sorry."
Just as Shelley was about to speak, a nurse came over to check her temperature.
She could only say goodbye to Mia and hung up the phone hastily.
When the nurse checked her temperature and confirmed her temperature had dropped a little, she told Shelley a few words and left.
Adrian poured Shelley another glass of water and asked, "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?"
Shelley felt slightly bitter in her mouth and had no appetite after the high fever.
But she couldn't stand it because she didn't eat anything from last night until now. As she also had suffered the torture of the drug, her body would probably collapse if she didn't eat anything.
She nodded and said, "I want to have some soup."
It was inappropriate for her to eat other things at the moment, and she might not have a good appetite for them.
"Okay."
Adrian went to buy soup. When he closed the door and left, there was a knock on the door.
Shelley thought he had forgotten something. She got up and went to open the door but was stunned when she saw the person outside the door.
"Alfred?" She was obviously startled. "Why are you here?"
Alfred looked at her pale and bloodless face. The anger that was suppressed in his heart burst out. "Why didn't you tell me about such a big thing?"
On the day when he met a swindler, he forgot to take away his belongings at the police station, and the police informed him to take them back. When he went there, he happened to meet the policeman who handled his case that day. If it weren't for the policemen who recognized him and told him about Shelley, he would still have been kept in the dark.
Alfred knew Shelley was independent, stubborn, and used to relying on herself in everything.
But every girl would be afraid if they went through such a thing.
Alfred hated himself for finding out about it so late and didn't give her support the first time.
Alfred always had a good temper. He was elegant and gentle. Shelley had never seen him lose his temper, let alone yell at others, especially at her.
It took her a long time to react. She said with a smile, "I was rescued by a friend last night, and then I had a fever. I was in a coma until not long ago. And this thing has passed. The police will handle the rest. I don't want to bother you."
Alfred grabbed her shoulders and said with a frown, "You have never been a trouble to me."
Shelley was stunned. She was a little frightened by his sudden movement and even subconsciously resisted his touch.
This reminded her of the hand that the man stretched out to her last night...
Alfred noticed her fear, so he let go quickly. Fearing that his performance would offend her, he quickly apologized and explained.
"Sorry, I'm just too worried about you. If Mr. Davis and other juniors know that such a big thing happened under my nose, they will definitely blame me for not protecting you well."
Hear him say that, Shelley breathed a sigh of relief, and a smile appeared on her face again.
For a moment, she thought that Alfred had feelings for her...
When thinking about it now, she felt herself so shallow to have such a ridiculous idea.
She looked at Alfred slowly and said, "Mr. Davis has always liked you the most. I have been jealous for a long time. If I can allow Mr. Davis to punish you, it seems not bad. Am I right?"
After a long silence, Alfred said slowly, "Well. I do need to be punished."
The girl he cared about the most was almost...
As long as he thought about it, he couldn't wait to tear that person into pieces.
After finally suppressing the surging fury, Alfred asked, "Have you decided what to do with that person? I know a good lawyer. I can introduce you to him if you need."
Adrian had been dealing with this matter. Shelley didn't know if he had made any arrangements, so she didn't dare to agree rashly.
After thinking about it, she said, "When I need it, I will talk to you again."
"Okay." Alfred nodded and looked at the ward. The clean and spacious room was different from other wards, which was obviously a VIP room. He said, "You said it was your friend who rescued you. Where is she? I want to thank her."
The police told him that the one who rescued Shelley was a woman and her husband.
Shelley was startled, and her eyes flickered. She said, "He has something to deal with, so he left first. He said he would come back later."
"Then I'll wait for her for a while..."
"No need." Before Alfred finished speaking, he was Interrupted by Shelley. It seemed she noticed her tone was a little hasty. She pursed her lips and tried to cover it up. "He has a cold temper and dislikes being in contact with strangers. I have already thanked him. You don't have to thank him again."
Alfred clenched his fists and stared at Shelley's eyes. "This friend is the one you took care of on leave before?"
"Yes." Shelley was a little afraid to look at him.
Alfred felt his heart seem to be stabbed by something.
"Okay. I will leave after accompanying you for a while."
It was improper for Shelley to refuse again.
Alfred stayed in the ward for another twenty minutes. He finally got up and left after Shelley's vague urge.
Alfred opened the door and walked towards the elevator. The elevator door just opened. Adrian was standing inside, carrying a takeaway box.
Their eyes met at this moment.
