Chapter 23 Digestive Pills
Adrian had never seen Alfred before but always felt he had seen Alfred somewhere.
Alfred stared at him with a cold expression. He glanced at the takeaway boxes in Adrian's hand and narrowed his eyes slightly.
Adrian frowned and turned sideways, making way for Alfred and getting out of the elevator.
There was no emotion on Adrian's indifferent face, but there was a clear glint of coldness in his eyes.
Michael said he was the only patient living on this floor.
Now, there should be only two of them, including Shelley.
Therefore, Adrian was clear about who Alfred came for.
He wouldn't interfere with Shelley's private life. He also wouldn’t restrict her freedom to make friends as long as she knew the bottom line.
The elevator door closed slowly. Alfred looked at Adrian's back, and he looked serious.
When he came here, he saw there was only one ward in use on this floor.
Alfred guessed the friend Shelley mentioned who disliked getting along with strangers should be him.
He said to himself, "A man?"
Alfred narrowed his eyes. It seemed he had to pay close attention to Shelley.
When Adrian opened the door with food, Shelley just got up and wanted to go to the bathroom.
Seeing this, he stepped forward to hold her shoulder. He said, "You still have a fever. What are you doing?"
Shelley resisted Adrian's touch, lowered her eyes, and said in a low voice, "I want to go to the bathroom."
Adrian withdrew his hand all of a sudden and frowned. "Can you go to the bathroom alone?"
His tone was flat, without any emotions.
It seemed it was just a question without any other meaning.
But when Shelley thought about it carefully, it made her feel ambiguous, and her face was hot.
There were only two of them in the room.
"Yes, I'm fine." After Shelley finished speaking solemnly, she got up, endured the dizziness, leaned against the wall, and went into the bathroom.
Adrian, behind her, took out the food one by one.
When he heard the sound of closing the door, a flash of thought flashed in his mind. He paused and pursed the corners of his lips.
In the end, he put down the things in his hands, and his eyes returned to coldness without any emotions in them.
When Shelley came out of the bathroom, she saw the small coffee table was full of food.
There were a few bowls of soup and salad with different tastes.
Shelley looked at so much food and asked cautiously, "Haven't you eaten yet?"
"No, I have had it," Adrian replied.
Shelley didn't know what else to say.
Adrian seemed to have a misunderstanding about her appetite.
Seeing her in a daze, Adrian pushed one of the bowls in her direction and said, "I don't know what your preference is, so I bought a little of each. You can eat as much as you can. It's okay if you can't eat them all."
Shelley glanced at the food in the box and muttered softly, "It's not good to waste the food."
Her voice was very low. Even if she was close to someone, they might not be able to hear it.
But Adrian glanced over and understood what she said.
He could read lips a little.
Adrian frowned. He didn't have the habit of eating at night.
"Could you have some with me?" Shelley was awkward and said, "There is too much food. I can't eat it all."
Adrian frowned and said, "Okay."
They sat opposite each other, and the only sound in the quiet ward was the sound of drinking and swallowing.
Shelley had little appetite, so she ate in small bites.
Her long hair hung behind her head, which made her soft face even paler. Her brows drooped for no reason, revealing a sense of fragility and making her look weak.
Adrian looked up and saw such a scene. He frowned, endured it, picked up a meatball, and put that in Shelley's box.
"Eat some meat. You are too skinny. Even cats are heavier than you."
The meatball and what Adrian said stunned Shelley.
She suddenly remembered that she had been carried by him twice.
Adrian was tall and had long legs, and she was petite. When she curled up in his arms, she was really like a cat.
Shelley subconsciously recalled his firm embrace at that time, and the tips of her ears became red.
His carry was really standard.
It was a pity that she was too embarrassed when she was carried in his arms.
While Shelley thought about it, her ears became redder as if it was burning.
Adrian saw her from time to time. Seeing her face slowly turn red, he panicked and reached out to touch his forehead. He said, "Why is your face so red? Does your temperature rise again?"
Shelley's face was delicate and soft, and her temperature was really a little high.
Adrian got up to ring the bell.
Shelley quickly called him back and said, "Adrian, I'm fine. I just... just..."
Seeing her slowly lowering her eyes and not knowing how to speak, Adrian suddenly understood.
He smiled faintly and sat back slowly. He ate quietly and said, "Okay."
His voice was very cold. Shelley couldn't tell whether he was relieved or what.
Seeing he didn't ask further questions, Shelley was relieved.
She took a bite of the meatball he gave her. She couldn't taste any flavor, but she pretended to enjoy it happily.
She felt Adrian's gentleness was quite touching.
Seeing her having a good appetite, Adrian put more food in her box.
Shelley didn't want to disappoint him, so she ate them all.
As a result, she was stuffed.
Lying on the bed, she felt her stomach bulging and uncomfortable, and she couldn't sleep. She didn't want to disturb Adrian, who was sleeping on the next bed, so she chose to bear it.
When it was unbearable, there was a sudden movement from the side.
Adrian got up, turned on the light, put on his shoes, and walked out.
Shelley was confused and asked, "It's so late. Where are you going?"
Adrian looked back at her and looked solemn. He went out without saying a word.
Shelley was silent for a while. She felt a little stuffy, as if something was stuck in her heart.
She bit her lip and fell down to continue sleeping, but after tossing and turning, she felt more uncomfortable.
Just when she wanted to get out of bed and walk around, there were footsteps outside.
Adrian appeared at the door against the light, holding something in his hand.
He walked towards her and handed her something in his hand. "Take the pills."
Shelley took them and was slightly surprised when she saw what the tablets in his hand were.
Adrian poured a glass of warm water and came over. Seeing her standing still, he frowned, and his voice became colder. "Take them."
Shelley reacted and threw the pills into her mouth. When she was about to chew them, Adrian stuffed the water glass into her hand.
She was stunned for a moment but still took the water glass and took a gulp. After taking the pills, she pursed her lower lip and said, "Actually, digestive pills... can be chewed."
Adrian obviously didn't know this. After hearing it, he obviously was startled. Then he naturally took the water glass and put it on the cabinet. He said softly, "Go to sleep."
Shelley looked at his indifferent back and smiled. She lay down and buried herself in the quilt.
She fell asleep after a while.
At dawn dawned, she was awakened by a sharp questioning voice.
"Adrian, who is she? Why did she sleep in the same room with you?"
