Chapter 50: Between Fear and Anger
*"Are we going to argue again because of him?" His voice was serious, even his gray eyes staring at me.*
*"But because, Fi-"*
*"He's dangerous so stay away from him! D'mn it, Solene!"*
**Chapter 50**
I was speechless because he started shouting. I backed away slightly because I felt scared of him. I automatically nodded in shock and fear.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to raise my voice at you. It's complicated, Solene, and I'm only thinking about your welfare."
I just nodded even though I didn't understand why he said that. Shan is kind and they just met, so why does Fire seem angry with him? Or should I say fear?
We ended up leaving that restaurant. I even heard Lovelle's yell, calling out Fire's name as Shan also screamed for mine.
Fuire didn't even look back at the two of them and started walking even faster.
"Is it okay if we leave them there?" I asked him. I feel guilty because of what Fire and I did, but it's here, eh. Maybe I'll just apologize to Shan when we meet.
"Yeah! They're adults. They know what to do."
I winced at what he said. What kind of answer is that? But he has a point if you think about it.
"Where are we going?" I'll just change the subject.
"Your choice," he replied, making me smile slightly. There is one place I really want to take him to and maybe this is the opportunity.
I just showed Fire the direction and we reached it in a few minutes.
"This is where you want to go?" he asked in surprise.
I nodded. "Don't worry, the food here is delicious. It's also clean and cheap, I assured him. It's obvious from his face that he just came here.
"Are you sure?" I want to laugh because if earlier his face was angry, now it's like shouting, "Are you kidding me?"
"I always eat here and nothing has happened to me, right? Don't act because I'm really hungry. If you hadn't dragged me earlier!"
I didn't wait for his answer because I went down immediately. I went to a small restaurant which is owned by Aunt Cynthia from our province and looked for a double seat. Aunt Cynthia isn't related to me by blood but I grew up calling her Aunt as she was my family's closest neighbor. Even though there was a sign on Fire's face that he didn't like this place, he did nothing but follow me.
"Oh! It's you, Solene," Aunt Cynthia said smiling when she saw me. I smiled as I always do. "Oh! He's a handsome young man, is he your boyfriend, sweetie?"
Aunt Cynthia's question made me blush. Sometimes her tongue is really playful.
"Not yet," I answered.
"Gosh! You really are young people, you're going to deny it! So, are you taking your usual order?"
I just nodded so Aling Cynthia could leave. Maybe he'll ask something else and I'll be embarrassed again.
I glanced at Fire when Aling Cynthia left. I raised my eyebrows because Hayup was pure when he smiled.
What are you smiling about?" I asked him, irritated.
"Your answer made me happy." I almost choked on my own saliva when he winked at me.
What did Fire smoke and his mood changes? And what answer does he say?
"You love me, don't you?"
I finally coughed because of his question. Sh*t! Why is he like this now?
"I knew it, you love me. I love you too, Solene."
My lips parted because of what he was saying. I think I was dumbfounded and now it's hard to breathe because of the words he uttered. I swallowed several times while staring into his eyes while he's also staring at me. My heart was pounding and it felt like it wanted to escape from my chest. I might have a heart attack anytime because of Fire and his words.
"I'm willing to wait until I hear those words myself from your sweet lips. You're worth the wait, Solene."
THE days passed by swiftly. It seems like a long time ago that we had a sembreak, but now it's time to start again. I didn't even visit my parents because they were too busy at the shop. Fortunately, Ms. Taylor allowed me to work part-time in her shop so I also have expenses for myself.
My professor was in the middle of a discussion when my cell phone vibrated. Fire's name appeared on the screen and I automatically smiled.
Fire Callante : Meet me at the rooftop after your class.
I didn't get to send him a reply because my professor also dismissed me immediately. I immediately went to the rooftop with the lunch I made this morning for the two of us.
I caught up with Fire sitting in his usual spot. He was looking down, that's why I thought to surprise him. I slowly approached him but he faced me and caught me.
I frowned and heard his soft laugh.
"Come here. Sit beside me," he said and pointed to the seat next to him.
