Chapter 10

His eyes travelled around her body and her beautiful looks that were alluring to gaze upon, her soft lips which he had kissed without her knowledge. He first kissed her in the woods when she half died and felt she was calling out to him, besides she was the first to meet at that moment according to the laws. Wanting to end his immortality and break the curse, he needed a human bride but someone, she was different from all the ladies he had abducted which unwilling attracts him to her. Alex had given up on being a mortal for a while now until he meet her in the woods and what was it with that eyes of hers? He raised her head slowly from his arm, stood up and carried her on the bed. He peeped at the door, the darkness haven't paved way for light yet as it was 4am, and he needed to leave when her wailing got him distracted
“Please… don't! No!” Evelyn flails on the bed, wriggling helplessly as she was having nightmares with her eyes close.
“Argh! Let me go! Don't touch me! No! Someone help!” She yelled, sweating profusely. Alex prodded to her and climbed onto the bed as he buried Evelyn's head in his chest while embracing her, she wasn't writhing any longer as her breath soften. Her tears were dripping on, yet her eyes were close. She wrapped her hands around his shoulders while sobbing until she fell deeply asleep. Evelyn woke up intending to turn over, but then realized she couldn't because it felt she was being squeezed in a corner. She noted there was something behind her, thick and hot, which prevented her from moving an inch. Evelyn groaned and struggled, that was when Alex had wrapped her middle and tighten around while pressing its warm body against hers. Her heart raced dreading who it could be and when she turned, a blue eye, aquiline nose and firm lips greeted her. Evelyn nearly screamed out how did she get to the bed? Did he take advantage of her again? If she could recall, she fell asleep on the ground, not bed.
“Alex?”
“huh?” he muttered, opening his eyes as he immediately let go of the waist. Her facial expression signifies that she needed an answer to why she was on the bed with him. Alex glanced at her frustrated for the day, he missed hiding from the lights because of her, yet she was troubling him with her looks. What was he going to say? Did she have a nightmare because of him? She sat upright quickly while cuddling her arms around her chest, Evelyn jumped down from the bed with a frown, she would rather not be anywhere near him. The windows were closed, and the dark room wears her off, troding to the door, she gaped at Alex and noticed he was staring wildly at his gloves and then the window as though desperately wanted to see something. He was going to be here before night fall, always in the dark, and she doesn't give a damn besides, he looks like someone who lives their life hurting others. His suddenly locked eyes with Evelyn, he tried not to feel remorse over her besides, he could have her anytime he desires to, and it would be best if she gets that. Evelyn opened the door and slammed it at him, She winced as she tried to forget the incident. Her regrets were ever helping the enemy, if only she controlled herself from that power pressurizing her over him. Evelyn wanted to be alone with no one disturbing her while dwelling in sorrow. Anyway, Colton should better be informed by his partner that she wasn't willing to see anyone. She felt her neck and her fingers touched the necklace around it, and that got her mind back to the woods when the wolves sought for what was on her neck, and it could only be the lace. Julie always had it on her now and hardly got it off. Colton had returned and surprised to see Alex in a room.
“What took you so long to get here?” Alex snapped, standing up from the bed.
“I was preventing the others from knowing your whereabouts…”
“Why are you here?” Colton threw back curious, but Alex didn't give him a reply and reckons that it was Julie.
“I found her in the woods last night and was almost eaten up, did she try escaping again?” He furthered, and Alex shook his head, not wanting to answer. Colton sniffed around the room and widen his eyes when he saw some petals on the ground.
“Did your beast try surfacing? Was it her this time around? She's bad luck, Alex, get rid of her or let me handle her!” Colton hollered and Alex glared at him.
“Stay away from her! I know what to do”
“You know the rules, she might lead you to break it, no woman for the past years had last up to the months stated in the contract neither a week” Colton reminded panicking over Alex who was lost in thoughts. He wasn't willing to tell Colton the spark that came out of the gate when he touched the spot Julie held.
“You only need her soul to…”
“Yes, but it's different, as if something's covering her up…” He stops and stared at his bed.
“How long would we keep haunting souls? I want something different…”
“You can't be human, no matter how hard you try besides she's not the first human bride you have, none are working, why do you admire them so much?”. Alex turned his gaze at him, he lowered his eyes and swallowed hard because no one was ever going to understand what he felt. There was a long silence between them, as though Colton had created a beef between them.
“Check her up” Alex ordered standing up from the bed as he paced towards the window, he slides the cotton open and slide it close when he noticed a part of him burn. Colton left the room in anger and hurriedly went to Julie's room, but her door was locked up, neither was she replying.
“Go away” that was all she kept saying to Colton who wasn't in to listen to her demand. If not Alex that asked him for a favor, he would have done what he does with others. Julie wrapped herself in a blanket, pale as she was cold and shivering with fear. Trying to forget last made her low-spirited, she had scratched her elbow in the woods, but it wasn't severe, though. She flipped the blanket and ran to the balcony, gazing at the view. The sun had been swallowed by the clouds as it was about to rain, it brought back memories of when she saw Donald standing at his grandma cottage. If only he could see her, all these wouldn't have hiked up.
