Chapter 22

The door banged opened as max hasten inside the ward where he could see the medical team attending to his fiancee. Twice has she been under pressure at the verge of giving up, no one had idea of who could have pulled the non-rebreather mask off her face. Mrs Anna got inside and pant heavily while gazing at her daughter with tears.
"Who has done this to you?" She cursed holding her chest which almost exploded. Max comforted as he was puzzled over what was going on, he suddenly glanced at the window with an anxious face, one could tell that he was having difficulties breathing.

"Found you" Evelyn affirmed as she was covered with dust and coals. She had found a passage way out of this place that might just lead to where Alex was. Earlier while Colton left her alone, she sneaked to Alex's study room if perhaps she might find a clue that led to Alex. This place was filled with old books that smelt like woods, she sneezed and search for books that seemed related to light, it didn't take her few minutes when she laid her hands on a scroll that was hidden behind a large book. Once she open the book, her eyes met with the heading which wrote " light and it's curse"
"Why the ancient writings?, It's so strange" she mused checking out if there was any other english words apart from the headings in the writing but they wasn't.
"There must be a translation" she furthered and then drew the cupboard close to her. There, pieces of paper were pilled up with illustration on each, she didn't have enough time to go through them as she needed to see Alex at all cost. Evelyn widened her eyes when she found one of the papers relating to the lights and where to find Alex.
"What are you hiding Alex?" She whispered with a curious look as her face looked like one who was scared of what she read. Hurriedly, she search further for a pathway leading out of this place to where Alex could be. Everything was working according to what she desired as it was more easy finding these things but little did she know that she was drawing up more trouble in the latter hours. The route she took was all covered in dust and coals like some abandoned passage. She must be lucky she didn't encounter any danger on the way while she walked. Evelyn tried not think over what the paper read but she really couldn't help with that. Now she could see why Colton was over protective over this man because of the curse which she had to keep a secret. Indeed, it was cold out here but a little bit bright, no sunlight and frozen woods that seemed enchanting and breathtaking that she wish her camera was over there for documentary. The serene environment caused chills to run down her spine, however this captivating sight was interrupted by a wolf which growled at her. She bite her lips standing mute and confused on how she would escape this wolf without getting eaten up. There nothing over here that she could use as defense, the wolf walked a step at her slowly ready to launch it's attack and she began to run as fast as she could away from the wolf in this isolated icy land. There was a lot to discover about this mystery of the mansion that had route to different places. The further she digged in away from the wolves the more cold it was , the wolf almost pounced on her when someone pulled her unexpectedly to a hide out. Evelyn pants and glanced at who it could be only to discover it was Alex, her jaw dropped at his sight as she couldn't believe he was this handsome when the in the lights. He had a scar on the neck and his eyes were filled with terror which defines a tyrant if he was from a royal family. His blue eyes made her heart skip fast but she began to notice something unusual as her eyes couldn't come off his. Her fingers were shrieking and becoming all dried up, she could feel her legs heavy with chap lips, this woman couldn't even utter a word as she was stuck where she stood.
"How did you get here?" He asked shaking her as this woman's grey pupil began to vanish, her body was drying up by his touch, he couldn't let go of her because she might end up drying up to death, he didn't have the chance to tell to look away from his face. Alex could only see her white balls and quickly he carried her in his arms. Colton hasten towards where he could probably be but his reaction was strange, he wasn't looking at Alex in the eyes and acted as though he was all blind.
"Did you bring her here?"
"No!" He snapped stretching his hand for Alex to hand her over and to their disbelief, she sneezed on Alex face, shook her head with wrapped arms around his neck. Her eyes gazed around and sighed thinking she must have resurrected in another word if not that she saw Colton in front of Alex who still had her in his arms.
"How did you..." Alex paused not wanting to reveal anything through his intended question.
"How dare you trespass!" He barked dropping her on the ground. She rubbed her nose and sneeze again on his face which disgust him.
"Evelyn come with me" Colton beckoned knowing how Alex wrath could be.
"Is this where you always stay? Away from the lights to get healed up from bruises?" She suddenly asked not minding Colton's request. Their eyes lurk together and Alex backed her, everything was shocking because no one could look at his face over they ended up drying up or get burnt but this woman conquered it. Evelyn walked to his front with folded arms;
"There's nothing else to hide Alex, I know a lot now cursed prince" she furthered like a scholar who had done herself proud by leaking up some secrets.
"I should have gotten rid of you a long time ago!" He barked at her.
"But you can't" she boasted taking a glance at Colton whose face lingered elsewhere from Alex. He groaned at her not knowing what to do with this woman who wasn't scared of his threat anymore who knows much about him now.
"How much do you know?" Colton asked interrupting their raging stare but then a hawk screech and Alex looked at the sky.
"Let's head for the cave" he ordered as Evelyn stared at the large hawk which was heading towards them. Alex had to pulled her along because it seems her eyes were stuck on it.
"Don't stare much!" Alex yelled at her and she nodded. This place seems like the survival of the fittest as different creatures attacked them on the way before getting into the cave, the men did the job of fighting them off while she watch as a spectator. He just didn't know what to do with this woman who was insane, how did she ever find this place alone? Except if she had gone to his study room and he hates people interfering with his items over there which meant she knew a lot of secrets now yet acted all calm, not scared and brave towards him. The necklace could be the reason she survived being dried up by him. He placed her in the care of Colton once he saw that these two had gotten to the cave and he stepped back to finish off with the creatures attacking them.
"What would happen to him?" She asked Colton who didn't give her a reply but light up a lamp.
"He's life depends on it?" She pressed thinking that would possibly be what he was going to say next.
"You shouldn't have showed up here, I'm afraid I can't help you when he returns" Colton buttressed and she swallowed hard. Was Colton being serious by that statement because she had to hid her fears from being revealed but now he was mustering them in her. She turned slowly at Alex who was approached by a Troll, he was finding it difficult to kill it as it was on him, Evelyn pulled the lamp from Colton who was subconscious when she did that, ran towards Alex and tossed the lamp inside the troll's wide mouth which was always opened. He gazed at her and how she swinged her hair with a serious stare at the troll which had whisk off him and groaned in pain as it tried to suppress the flame burning in it's belly and soon it burst. Evelyn threw up at the sight and sighed while giving him a piece of advice;
"It would be best if we're a team on this part". Colton ran out of the cave and cursed at her.
