Chapter 50 Epilogue
TWO YEARS LATER
Hussain frantically walked into the room, Sohila had just called him and told him that Nadia had lost her consciousness and even though she had reassured that she was being taken care of by the doctor, he still couldn"t feel at ease. He wasn't even done with what had taken him out of the house when he rushed back and walked directly to her room.
He found her seated on the bed as she ate from the plate Sohila had obviously brought to her while she herself, fed Baby H that ran towards him the moment he opened the door. "Baby H! I told you to stop running away whenever you"re being fed, right? Don"t you want to stay with me when Ammi and Abba are going back to Florida?" She reprimanded and he grinned at her while he hugged him.
"Welcome back, Abba. Ammi ish sick." He took his hand and they walked towards the bed, Nadia was just staring at them. She knew Baby was just a few months shy of three years now, but one could clearly tell that when he grew up, he"d look exactly like the twins did and that thought made her smile.
Hussain sat down beside her on the bed and took her hand in his. "I told you that you seem pale in the morning, Singleton." He said softly and stared into her eyes. Even though the paleness was still there, she had this vibrant glow to her eyes. She looked happy and excited about something.
"Baby H, let"s go and play outside, okay?" Sohila said and stood up, smiling at the looks they were sharing between them. She loved the duo, loved the way they loved each other. It was pretty obvious that they both were obsessed with each other.
"I want to stay with Ammi!" He protested and she grinned at him.
"You want to take that ice cream Ammi said isn"t for you? Unless..." She didn"t even have to finish what she was saying when he ran towards her and she scooped him into her arms, walking away from the room with a gun. "You can"t be their son and not be obsessed with an ice cream." She nuzzled her nose on his and he grinned at her.
Nadia watched when they left the room and she turned her gaze to a worried Hussain, smiling softly to ease his mind. "Hey! It"s nothing serious, Hussain. The doctor has treated me, I'll be fine."
He shook his head and tried to stand up before she pulled him back on the bed. "Let"s go to the hospital."
She laughed, "What are we going to do there? I just told you the doctor has came. Hajia has just left the room, and you know if not because she"s sure I'd be fine, she would have taken me to the hospital before you"re back."
He sighed and sat back, tightening his hold on her hand, "What did he say was wrong with you?"
"Nothing. I just got drowsy because someone has decided that it"s time to finish making the meal, we just have to wait to get it served." At first, he looked confused, as though these weren't there words and she expected him to instantly know what she was talking about.
He shook his head for a few seconds, "No, you don"t mean that. Do you?" He asked, his face instantly breaking into a grin while she nodded her head.
"Oh, yes, I am. Remember, I'm yours to love and to make family with. With a pinch of love making, of course." She chuckled at the expression on his face and he took her off guard by cradling her into a hug.
"Nadia! Ya Allah! Thank you!" He hugged her tightly, feeling as happiness was threatened to surge out of his soul.
She didn"t know he was crying until he pulled apart and she cupped his face in her hands, "Hussain, you"re really becoming too emotional lately." She chuckled at the expression on his face before she began to wipe at his tears, a sad smile on her lips. "You miss him, right? You wish you could share the news with him. Because you two have never got to talk about Baby H when he was alive." It must"ve hurt him whenever he remember that they had never for once spoke about their children.
"I do, but I'm still thankful and these years has shown me wallowing in despair doesn't do me any good. The only thing I can do is pray for him." And they did, softly within the touch of their lips and while they were done, the smile was back on his face. "When should we go back home?"
She rolled her eyes at him, "Are we in a desert here?"
He chuckled, "If you"re here, you"ll never rest and I don"t want you to be overworking yourself, Nadia."
"Ah! That reminds me, Hajia said we"re going to Kaduna for Mufeeda"s wedding next week, I forgot to tell you."
"You aren"t going."
"Tell that too Hajia, and I have to go. You know why? She has sent me a message apologizing, Hussain, you knew it. She"d think I'm still harboring bad thoughts about her, when I'm not."
"I still am. And you aren"t in the right position..." He stopped midway and chuckled lovingly, "Stop doing that, you aren't going to seduce me into this, Singleton."
She chuckled and slowly pulled him towards her, "What if I am?" She was grinning softly, bringing his face closer to her mouth and just when they were about to kiss, Baby H burst into the living room. Hussain hissed under his breath and Nadia sighed before she burst into a peal of laughter, resting her head on his chest.
"Oh, I'm shorry! You can do it, though. I'm here to take my car." He didn"t even spare them a glance when he took his toy car from the mirror and walked towards the door before he turned and grinned cutely at him, "Second H, don"t forget about our outing. Ammi, you should shleep!" He closed the door and the only thing that could be heard was the sound of their laughter.
"Yes, First H!" Hussain yelled at him amidst his laugh.
"When did he start calling you that?" She asked with an amused grin.
"After meeting his terrible god-mother. And somehow, his Ammi calls him her husband"s twin, and now he thinks we"re mates." They laughed at the same time before Hussain leaned and kissed her flat tummy, "Be well in there, princess, let"s give Ammi a twin too, okay?"
She smiled and felt as happiness swarmed in her heart, she"d love a daughter, she really would. She laid back on the bed and pulled him until he laid by her side, pulling the duvet over them. "I want to sleep beside you, in an innocent way, though. Shall we?"
He stifled a yawn and nodded his head, "I"ve never cooked a dish this long, I guess it"s time to rest a bit. Let"s sleep, Singleton."
She chuckled before she felt as he wrapped his hand around her waist and brought her closer to his body, making her rest her head on his chest. "A rest is so much needed, Twin. Between, I love you, always and forever." He only smiled and nuzzled her deeper into his chest. Loving her even more, with each breath he took.
Alhamdulillah!
