Chapter 27

Book 3
Instead of being conscious, I pretended to be paper just sliding down the motorbike, until the body hit the hot cement.
Even surpassed the racing trend in my state today. No more strength, the soul seemed to have left. I was as if riding a defective roller coaster earlier. Everywhere he slips, turns and if he runs, he seems to be chasing the schedule to the other world.
"What happened to you?" Kiesha asked worriedly. She held out her hand to help me stand up.
"Ask that to-" I choose not to finish what I was going to say. I just let the annoyance go through.
"Are you Zi the most? Gee is not used to running a fast motor. "
"I'm sorry," She cold stare darted at me.
"Your mom," I murmured.
Tsk!
"Let's go," Zed entered the conversation.
It reached for Kiesha's hand, then led her into a quiet and dark alley.
What are we gonna do in this kind of place? That's how I frowned, tilted my head, then bit my lip.
I held on my bag tightly. Don't tell me-
I ran to follow the couple who had a plan to leave us again.
"Hey, why are we here? What will you do? Kiesh that's bad! "I drowned in succession.
"Yes, I know bad. But it's delicious, it's okay. "
I sighed violently. I was not prevented from giving her the blow that I had been preventing before.
"That's hurt," she complained while rubbing her injured shoulder.
"Does your mother know this? What if something happens, what will you do? "
I pretended to be a mother scolding her rebellious child. I just can't help but to get mad. It is clear that we will finish the study first before moving on. After this, I will know that-
I dramatically covered my mouth. Next came the shedding of grieving tears.
"What happened to you? What if something is formed? That's a win-win situation for us."
"How can you do this?" I hit her again.
"She thinks differently babe," Zed commented with a laugh.
"What else are you doing there? Get inside "
A large, muscular, bald man grabbed our attention. The door threw it away without noticing that there was a shovel.
I simply peeked at what the people behind him were doing. First notice the cards in hand, and a mountain of money lying on the table in the middle of them.
Is this the place for illegal gambling? The one that the authority had been looking all these years?
As far as I know mafias are the ones that usually come here. How can my bestfriend know this place?
"You're the one watching now Mawie?"
I don't have to ask. Obviously it was Zed himself who awakened her to this place.
Now I'm not sure if it's right to expect their relationship to last. From what I've noticed, it doesn't seem like a good influence.
I pulled my best friend away from him.
"You won"t gamble Kiesh," I said emphatically. The evil stare was only focused on her shocked boyfriend.
"We are not doing this for nothing," she let go from my grip.
"You know it's forbidden," I almost muttered. Unable to comprehend what the madness they think will help.
"Can you just look?" he held my hand. Tried to pull in, but I stiffened. Don't hide your resentment.
"Just leave me alone."
There's no way I'll walk inside that dirty place. I am still sane enough to halt myself from committing a serious crime.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," I looked away.
"All right."
The three walked in one after another. As I sat on the side, I looked around as if someone was looking.
"It's forbidden to hang out there miss," the bald man criticized.
"My companions are inside."
"Just come in."
"I don't want to!"
"You'll be mistaken for a spy there and could be killed."
"Do I look like a spy?" I pointed to my face.
"Nowadays, whether it's good or not we don't care anymore. Just protect the business."
"Who's going to kill me then?" I stood up again and turned him upside down.
"Did you see that?" he pointed to the window in front of us, as well as the other two on the second floor.
"There are armed guards there. You stay five minutes here, they won't hesitate to pierce your head."
I simply brought my hand to the edge of the wearing mirror, and pressed the secret button to activate the thermal camera.
I personally made this, just to apply the knowledge I have acquired from years of searching about science and technologies.
This is my first invention. Both a spy glass for future use and regular glass for my eyes.
Now I can only use the properties placed here. Things that are supposed not to happen. Because first of all, I am just a simple student with a simple and rewarding life. I am not a cop, not an agent either. How can I imagine that one day, I will face such a scenario?
The thermal camera itself confirmed what the bald brother was saying. That's what I'll call it, because it's easy to remember.
"There is," I whispered.
"What?"
"I said, 'isn't it?" I just looked around the windows.
Two people were positioned below, as well as above. My camera couldn't see thier exact position, but it can detect the heat coming from their body and the metal they were holding.
Woe to whoever tries to overthrow this place. There are evil elements lurking immediately.
"Why are you pointing out the location of the killers? Aren't you afraid that I might tell the police what I found out?" I shifted my eyes to older brother bald.
"You can't do that kid," he laughs in response.
"You know," I shrugged. His hair was artistically parted, when he quickly went inside before the armed guards could even think of staying there.
You just ate what Geline Neilani said earlier.
No, four guns were pointed at me. I still have dreams to fullfil, shits to fix, and bestfriend to guide. Maybe if I disappeared, he would actually join in the evil forever. Still demented. What works it thinks is weird, that"s what it gets into.
Like today ...
When her parents found out, we were both upset. I even promised to keep an eye on her. It won"t let you do anything that will damage your own image, shit!
Shouts, laughter, and loud stories from gamblers greeted me as I finally passed the wall made of a strange type of glass. It glows, the color changes depending on the position.
Zion was the first I noticed, standing near Kiesha. Of all the tables that can be rented, in the middle they really thought to go. In the event of a raid, they are likely to be one of the quickest to spot. Even when really not thinking.
I rolled my eyes, then strutted towards them.
"Did you know that when this madness reaches the ears of aunt and uncle, you will also be affected?" I whispered to Zion.
"Hmmm," he confidently responded, unbothered.
"Why don't you help me stop your boss with this thing?"
"I can only be scolded, I can't be fired. Ma'am Kiesha will personally take and pay me, she's the only one who has the right to fire me. Collective bargaining agreement," he whispered back.
"Why don't you stop my boss alone? Looks like you're the one who's going to be in trouble," he added.
What else can I get? There is a point to this. The employer-employee relationship was only within him and my bestfriend. The Alfano couple no longer have a voice here.
Kiesha has literally found the reliable character she really is.
I let out a deep sigh. It is better to just suppress the annoyance first. Let her say that one day when I am full, not only the volcano will erupt but also her head.
From her, my eyes went to the guys in front. The couple is face to face, so is their opponent. I was standing right behind Kiesha, so the cards she was holding were clearly visible.
I don"t know how to play that, not even an idea of what they"re doing. All I can help my friend is silence and unwilling support.
Now I'll just do it. They will not be allowed to gamble next time. Even if Kiesha gets angry, it's okay, as long as I keep her away from sin.
"One hundred thousand is my bet," the man to my left suddenly whispered.
It authoritatively smokes the cigarette it is holding, when lightly exhaled.
"Five hundred thousand, for you to kill that fuckin cigarette mister," Kiesha said.
"Cool! There's nothing left to lose, is there?"
The man was not even insulted. I can see in its face the certainty of winning.
"One hundred thousand to me too," Zed whispered.
I know they are rich, but I don't think they are willing to gamble this much money. Especially Kiesha, Aunt still struggled just to improve their lives. After all, he will only use the luxury he receives for nothing.
"Five hundred thousand was too much Kiesh," I whispered to her.
"I'll win now, it's okay."
"One million."
We all turned to their other competitor. I feel like it's only a few years older than us. He was handsome, white, well dressed. Only in aura can you realize that you are really rich.
One by one they lowered the cards. First the handsome man, Zed, then Kiesha. While the remaining competitor takes no action. He was glued on his position.
A quick motion hit my mirror beneath it. His cards were visible from here too, I have memorized any of it. I remember there were four of spades there a while ago, but now they have been replaced by ten of hearts. He doesn't even have a single card dropped, so it's impossible for it to disappear right away. Unless ...
I was secretly devalued by my own thoughts.
This place is really dirty. Woe to those who enter without knowing, crocodiles will consume all they have for money.
"I saw that," I said unconditionally. The deceitful man was almost killed by the stare.
"What?" he was light-headed.
"You changed a card."
"Really, do you have proof?" He stood up and circled. Just to show he has no hidden cards.
He must have trained a lot for this. The situation is very small. When looked at, the lying on his face could not be reflected.
Wherever it hid the cards, I had no idea. But someone who knows can prove his crime.
"Based on what I know, there are thirteen heart cards in a standard fifty-two card deck. Let's count it and see if it had the original number," I let out a smirk.
"What do you want to convey woman?" He stared at me.
"You cheated."
"Hey, I'm not that kind of person, am I?"
"Bring down your cards and move that filthy hands off the table."
"Who are you to command me?"
Some are starting to look away from us. Astonishment first registers on their faces. While Kiesha and the others are concerned, it will be reflected.
I hate bad behavior, bad habits, bad people. I have a mouth and a reason to correct its mistake, why don't I use it?
It's a mess if it's a mess. So what?
I am not Geline Neilani Gavino for nothing.
"Will you follow or get mad at me? What, just punch?" I stepped towards him. But also just return to the position left after Zion pulled.
"We're not here to fight. You really challenged me with a fistfight, it's like it's big. You're just a blow to that," he moved in front of me.
"Sorry for that mister," Kiesha said.
"I like her idea," the handsome man whispered.
My gaze moved quickly to him, and so did he to me. He tilted his head, then smiled sparingly.
Suddenly, out of the blue I felt something tickling inside me. It was too foreign and weird ...
Just to shut it off, I managed to look away. The disgusted deceiver turned again.
It slowly lowered the cards, then sniffed.
"You won," Zed whispered disappointedly.
"Not unless we count the cards," The handsome said.
The second time our eyes met. He slowly caressed his lips with his thumb, then leaned backward.
I am not attracted. I don't like gambler, tsk!
My cheeks just warmed at the thought. Though not confirmed, I knew the face was already blushing for the vague reason. I mean ... alright, I do know what's going on with my system. I just hate to admit the idea. I can't have sudden feelings for a criminal, no way!
"Do it lady," his eyes roamed on my body shamelessly.
I blinked. Then come out from behind Zion. Come to the table to do what the man wants. When one exceeds the number of heart cards, it means that one playmate is just fooling them.
Let's see how brave he is ..
I separated the cards based on the row, making sure to pick up the heart cards. It was about to end, but was stunned when the bad man suddenly stood up. He pulled out a gun and immediately pointed it at me.
Kiesha also stood up to block the body between us.
"What are you doing ?!" she exclaimed.
"That friend of yours knows too much!"
Suddenly, everyone who noticed the scene was upset. Someone else left the seat and quickly ran out.
"Run kids, I'll take care of it," the handsome man calmly whispered. He also stood up, then pulled out the gun that was just placed on the side of his pants.
Zed quickly grabbed the money placed on the table, as did Kiesha.
"It's police, no one will move!" shout of who in covert direction.
"Let's go Gee," Kiesha and Zion pulled me away from the area at the same time. Even before being affected.
"What's that?" I asked tremblingly. Too shocked to think properly.
"Raid."
"Immediately?"
"It was planned," Kiesha playfully winked.
"And you're part of it?" I gasped heavily.
"Ask Neilani later, let's get out of here first before the opponents get caught."
They dropped me right in front of Zion's motorbike.
"There's no way I'll ride with him again!"
"You have no other choice."
"Why would they chase us? Why would we run if they didn't know you were affiliated with the police?"
"We took money from them," Zed lifted the bag with the money taken from the table earlier.
"You stole!"
"They stole from people, we just took it back," Kiesha replied quickly.
"It's still stealing!"
"Can you just ride first?" annoyed Zion's comment.
"I won't go with you. I'd rather just run."
"They are here!"
Immediately my friend got up on the boyfriend"s motor. The second time, we left again.
I spotted three approaching armed men. I can't figure out if they are disciples of the law or evil?
Gunfire could be heard from here inside the casino. The people became more and more agitated, running everywhere. The guards hiding in the three windows I had checked one by one earlier were also firing. Whoever is being targeted, you ruthless ones!
"Ride girl if you want to live!" Zion's growl.
"For your information mister, it's not a woman's name-" I whispered as a link to the words that would have been uttered. Such was the shock after he pulled to sit on the front of the motorbike, when it was quickly pulled away from the area.
None of myself tied my arms around his neck and buried my face in his chest, while silently praying. Just close up, I didn't even try to pay attention to the current condition of the skirt. He could feel her gently holding the hem to prevent it from opening due to the wind.
"Shit they're following us."
"Just slow down!" I exclaimed.
"They're following us."
"Exactly!" I looked up to him.
Our faces were only inches away; I can totally feel his warm breath. Even every detail of his proud physical appearance was also clear in my sight.
"Step on the brake in a sudden movement. They won't expect that so it will definitely pass us by. If that happens, then let's turn towards the other direction. "
Did it stop, just focused on the road. I had no idea how I would stare into his eyes, nose, and lips.
He subconsciously bit his bottom lip, making me curse secretly.
I'm just now apologizing to mama. I didn"t accidentally discover this kind of scene.
Alas, temptation stay away from me. You'll do no good for me!
"Hold on tight," his hand went to my waist.
"One two Three."
It already did my suggestion. Suddenly the motorbike stopped in the middle of the road. Opponents were also running fast so they immediately overtook us.
In one swift move, he drove towards a dark and small path. Only people and small vehicles can enter here, there is no chance of the claimants to follow. Unless they know the path we are going to take.
My roommate looks familiar with the place. He knows where to detour, where to stop, or turn.
I had a hard time figuring out if I could breathe or if I should stop praying after he finally stopped the motor in front of the police station.
I don't know what has gotten into his mind. With the amount of space, here is still really chosen to relax. They seem to have forgotten they stole money, dived into illegal gambling so can still be considered criminals.
We can be considered criminals. As painful as it was, I had to accept that I was already in the company of sinners. I walked inside that place; I have witnessed their dirty deeds. I let my friend gamble and steal. They talked reluctantly after discovering their opponent's fraud. I am partly responsible of what happened because of my own negligence.
The above are sufficient reasons to implicate me in the possible charges.
I guess they have to find a new house to live in. Because when mama found out, she had no reason to forgive her own child. She was always prim and proper; a mother who take even a simple fault a serious case. I have to be careful in everything I do. I have to be perfect in every angle; a woman like me should act accordingly.
Unlike Kiesha, I am not free to do everything I want. Just one wrong, hurtful word will immediately unfold. I am not complaining, not anymore. She couldn't help either. In the end, mama still listens to the voices of people who have nothing else to do but talk about the lives of others.
"Hey, are you still alive?"
I was pulled back in reality. My arms were still tied around Zion's neck, My nose almost kissing his lips.
I immediately pushed him away, then slowly came down. That's awkward...
"You see I'm still dilated, don't you?"
"I thought your own soul had escaped you," he got off the motorbike.
"Why are we here?" I openly pointed to the entrance of the station.
"This is the only place I could think of for us to be safe. The police will be our allies, maybe those people will be ashamed to hurt us. "
"We would have been fine if you hadn't just taken their money," I rolled my eyes.
"You know nothing..."
"Really? What is there that I don't know? "
He just stared at me blankly.
"What? Will you just stare? "I folded my arms and raised an eyebrow at him.
"It's not my responsibility to explain to you," he turned away.
"If you're really anxious to know, ask ma'am Kiesha yourself," holding the bag, she walked away. Cross to the other side of the road to re-enter the alley we walked on a while ago.
He must be living in there. That's why I know where to go.
"Hey! Will you just leave me here ?!" I asked nervously.
But I hear nothing in response.
I'd rather talk in the air. It is understandable if it is not answered. Unlike him who has a mouth, no good words are uttered.
"How can this motorbike be pushed home like that? with its size I might even be pushed, "I almost tweaked myself in annoyance. "Report you to the police, you'll see..."
"Who are you going to report?"
I was literally shocked after hearing the familiar voice of the handsome man we had met earlier.
I quickly turned the body towards it. Not just to confirm the conclusion, but also to show that I was ready for any attack from him. Just try to rush, I have pepper spray and a shrill voice to ask for help.
"Relax lady," he chuckled.
"Nothing funny and I don't even have your one million!" I blocked my arms between the two of us.
"I know. That was planned, "he tilted his head to the other side. I looked sideways.
Is he having a sexual desire over me? The hell!
"As you can see, we are in front of the police station, brother. Whatever you are planning, don't go any further. "
"I know," he offered a hand. "I am police Lieutenant Hans Miklaus Sullivan, nice meeting you and good job."
"Good job?" my brows furrowed.
"Your friends have offered to be assets of the police. In exchange for what they will do is the money available from criminals, supposedly in a village that wants to help? "
The Lazarus Village. That"s what we call the place we went to last week. Where live people who need help from the lifting.
This is what Kiesha says that one day will help the locals. He is willing to gamble his own life just to color the promise left.
No matter how reprehensible, cursed, and headache he may be, there is still hidden goodness.
That's my Kiesha Amira Alfano ...
