Chapter 86
"Wait, what?"
And I was right.
"You heard it already brother," I bit my lower lip.
"But he is dead."
What I spilled is a huge bomb for him. He can't take it that easily. It's too hard to believe that the person he thinks is dead, is just my new girlfriend.
"You just thought."
"What did I just think? He didn't really die? It's not true that you poisoned him?"
I shook my head one after another.
"Oh God," he wiped his mouth and looked up, "What kind of mess is this you got into Geline?" I could totally sense his frustration.
I look forward to it. He never once thought this kind of scene would come. He knows I am against people who do bad things. Even mama is unlikely to think that I could be kind to a criminal. But it has already happened. I lost my own game. I let someone like Spencer into my life.
And he is one of the reason why my brother is in so much despair right now. I wouldn't be surprise if kuya Gid would say 'No', to our relationship.
It"s not just support we need to get from my family. Kun'di tiwala na rin.
"Kuya believe me, he's innocent."
"He saw for himself what happened to Kianna, Geline. But he did nothing to defend it. He is not innocent," he said in greeted teeth. He ruffled his hair and several times blushed, "Why is he still with all the men?"
"He took good care of me ..." I answered, almost a whisper.
"That's all? Or maybe he scared you? Geline and you will be in trouble when the authorities find out the truth about him. You will be involved because you helped him hide. Did you think of that?"
"I already thought of it," was my simple answer.
"And you just ignore it? Are you out of your mind?"
I know the consequences of my decisions. I knew I would ruin the relationship with Spencer. But I"m willing to pay for that. When I decided to say my 'Yes' to him, that includes taking risk with everything.
"Yes, he did something wrong. But that doesn't mean he won't change. He felt bad for Aunt Kianna as much as we do. Every day, he pays for the silence he made when his sister needed someone to say something. true. But he can't do something about it because he is blackmailed. "
"Are those the lies he told you?" he laughed mockingly, "You're making me laugh so much Gee."
"That's the truth brother."
"Let me talk to him," he said in monotone. Ignoring my words.
"She's gone," I replied bluntly.
I know he wouldn't buy it. But I still tried.
"Okay," he said as he left the room.
I don't know, but I couldn't feel any ease at it. I feel like he has something else to do. I quickly grabbed my slippers and hoodie, then followed him. As he walked straight out of the house, my doubts grew.
"Your older brother Gordon is coming soon!" mama shouted from the kitchen.
None of us answered. My older brother just walked straight to the outside of the gate. So am I.
I'm sure he's going to see Spencer. He might do something bad here.
"Brother, whatever you're thinking, you'd better not continue. Don't make a scandal here please," I tried to reach for his hand. But he dodged on time.
Even before we finally got to the opposite side of Spencer's car, it opened and his image came out.
He is wearing black shirt, underneath his leather jacket. He combed his hair with his fingers and confidently walked towards us. I don"t know if he feels the growing tension between my brother and me, or he just doesn"t really care?
"Geline-"
Kuya Gideon's punch cut him off. With the force of its blow, he was pushed back.
"Kuya!" I yelled. I was about to run to Spencer, but it stopped me.
"I am alright Gee," he said as he wiped the blood dripping on the side of his lips.
"What did you do to my brother ?!" the older brother took another blow here.
He backed away again until his back hit the side of the SUV. Kuya took the opportunity to corner him. He unleashed two more consecutive blows. Then he forcibly grabbed Spencer's clothes.
"That's right," I tried to stand between them. But my brother just left me alone. I lost my balance and fell down.
It had me wince a bit in pain. But that didn't stop me from getting back up and do the thing I want again.
"That's enough please ... It's not his fault," I tearfully grabbed his hand and tried to pull it away.
My strength isn't enough to move him on his position. Even so, I tried a few more times.
Spencer doesn't block every attack from Kuya. Even the use of force back here is avoided to do.
"Kuya!" I shouted at the top of my lung, "That's right please ..." I hugged it and pulled again.
"Geline! Gideon!" I heard mama call in the living room. His voice got closer and closer. Until she stopped beside me. While papa and Gideon went straight to either side of older brother to wean it.
"That's enough Gideon, you might kill him!" papa shouted.
"What's going on here?" authoritative question of brother Gordon. It will just arrive. With his wife and child.
I again mediated between brother Gideon and Spencer. His last blow hit me on the back. I tensed and winced at the pain I had suffered. My brother's strength is no joke. He could have killed Spencer if he hadn't been spared.
"What does that mean? Why are you making a fuss ?!" mama asked confused as she looked back and forth at me and my older brother. Her gaze then went to Spencer, "Is that-" she stepped closer. He confirms the visible image, "Spencer?" almost whispering its harvest.
"Spencer? The criminal?" Grant.
"Ma, let me explain ..." I said with sincerity drawing on my eyes.
"You'll just gonna feed lies on our family's mind Nielani!" to Gideon bawled.
"Brother, he's not a bad person. He had nothing to do with Aunt Kianna's case. He's just a victim too!"
"Bullshit!"
"Gideon!" we were stunned by brother Gordon's shout. This is the first time we saw him mad. He is always calm and proper. He doesn"t like fighting. If possible, he wants to take all things lightly, "Nothing good will happen to us if we just shout here. Let's go inside and talk everything out privately," his eyes roamed around.
I didn't even notice that many were looking at us. The neighbors are already outside their gates. Others peered out the window and balcony.
This is not good. They might face Spencer.
"I want to hear your explanation Geline. Why are you with this man? Have you lost your mind?" si mama.
"Let me treat his wound first. And then I'll explain everything to all of you," I said as I quickly pulled Spencer into the house. He is badly bitten. Fresh blood was flowing from his left cheek and side of the lip.
I am sure it hurts so bad.
"Your brother punched you, are you alright?" he asked worriedly.
I silently opened the front door. Then he was guided into the living room.
"Nielani ... I'll take care of explaining to your family. I got you in this mess. It's my responsibility to-"
"I'm the one mama wants to talk to. Just talk when you're called. Don't try to interrupt our talk. You'll just get yourself into an intense argument," I answered calmly. I need to be calm. I can think better that way.
