Chapter 15: The kind of monster I am!
I supported myself with the hospital's bed iron bar before I could sit on the bed. My gaze swivelled around the hospital room and I saw some IV bags and stands, torn tissue, arm slings and some other things I've never seen before. I started perceiving the smell of another person in the room, I sniffed to know where it was coming from before I turned my back to look at the other side of my bed.
A pale and unconscious guy was at the left end of the room, his mouth covered with a mechanical ventilator obviously because he couldn't breathe by himself. We were the only ones in the room and I wanted to leave as fast as possible because I really hated the smell of hospitals and it was worse since I was a wolf and my sense of smelling is sharper.
"Oh my God!" I exclaimed when I remembered the guy in the bar. He was the reason I was in the hospital. I sweared for revenge if I ever saw him again as I sat on the bed.
I suddenly got up as I realised my mother must have been told that I was in the hospital. She'll panic and might even pass out because of the fear of losing me and I can't let that happen. "Where is Ben?" I quietly asked my wolf. It was quiet for a while before it whispered with an "I don't know."
The rooms temperature was a little too hot and I slapped my skin as my little allergy to hospitals started kicking in. "Why can't I turn into a wolf, Luca?"
"I can make you shift." Luca replied; I sat back on the bed when I heard it while smiling and rejoicing in my heart like I've gone mad.
"But I won't!" Luca said.
I stopped rejoicing and the smile on my face dissapeared. "What do you mean you won't?" I asked with a frustrating tone evident in my voice as I was beginning to get tired of everything.
"If I make you shift to your wolf form which is my form for the first time, the process will pain you so much that you might even pass out from the pain." Luca said. "The process is only less painful when the Alpha of the first time shifter's pack is present with him or his/her guardian assigned to him or her by the moon goddess can also make the process less painful."
I nooded my head as everything Luca said sank into my brain. Seems I have to wait for my guardian then, 'cause I definitely hated pain and would never go for it just because I'm anxious to shift to a wolf for the first time.
My gaze once again shifted to the unconscious guy at the room corner and I wondered what happened to him that caused his terrible condition. I wondered if he got stabbed in the heart and that was why he couldn't breathe by himself.
I really needed to get out of the hospital room and know what happened back there in the bar. I was about to try to remove my drip and walk to the hospital door when I remembered that the bastard Black jacket man injured my face in the bar. I brought up my hands to touch my cheeks as I half heartedly wondered why I didn't feel the pain of injury when I've earlier rested the two sides of my face on the hospital bed.
To my surprise and shock, my face was as fresh as if I had just applied some makeup to it. "What the fu*k happened?" I asked myself. I remembered quite well that the last blow that was connected to my cheek by the black jacket man was on my injured face, it was even the pain of black jacket man's fist hitting my injured face that made me faint.
I suddenly turned to look at the door as it was opened and a female doctor wearing a white gown walked in. "Ha! You're awake?" She aked in suprised and seemed to freeze in shock when she stared at my face. *Before…I left this room his face was practically bruised.* The doctor quietly muttered under her breath; unknown to her that I clearly heard every word she said.
"Where's Ben?" I asked.
"Ben…?" The doctor stammered.
"Who brought me to the hospital?"
"It was a man who drove in a latest model Lexus car." She answered. "He was followed by a chubby guy in the passenger seat which I assume is the one you called Ben and he left afterwards."
My eyebrows creased as I tried to think of some people I knew that drove Lexus cars. I didn't really know any, the only person I remembered was our high school principal "Mr Jackson" and his' was an old edition of Lexus.
"Did the person leave a name or a message for me?" I curiously asked.
"Unfortunately he didn't, he only paid for your hospital bill and dropped off the person you called Ben."
"Oh! Okay." I replied. "When can I get discharged?"
The doctor looked at me for some time like she was trying to decide before she said, "Tomorrow morning." She excused herself to leave the room and I told her to help me call Ben.
I didn't wait for up to five minutes before Ben hastily opened the door to the hospital room and rushed inside.
"How are you feeling? Did you get hurt? Does your back ache?" Those were the questions Ben threw to me the moment he saw me on the hospital bed.
I looked at him and I thought of all the other friends that I had and they betrayed me. "Drew" for example- he stopped talking to me the moment I told him that I wasn't a biological son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Smith.
"I'm fine!" I said. "Where's that guy? The black jacket man."
Bob intertwined his fingers with each other like he always did anytime he was thinking of saying something serious. "He left after you fainted and all the important people in the bar couldn't hold him responsible because…" Ben stopped.
"Because of what?" I asked; a little scared because of the tone he used.
"He said you were a monster and a supernatural being that was why you had fangs and that was why you attacked him first."
"He did what!" I exclaimed; clenching my teeth in anger.
"We're really fortunate that your mom didn't'' or maybe "hadn't" heard a thing about it." Ben said.
His last sentence calmed me down a little when I heard it, but he immediately said another thing that made me flinch,
"But some people are outside this hospital waiting to start a fight with you and ask different questions about the kind of monster you are!"
"....."
